    An API-based search system for one click access to information

    This paper proposes a prototype One Click access system, based on previous work in the field and the related 1CLICK-2@NTCIR10 task. The proposed solution integrates methods from into a three tier algorithm: query categorization, information extraction and output generation and offers suggestions on how each of these can be implemented. Finally, a thorough user-based evaluation concludes that such an information retrieval system outperforms the textual preview collected from Google search results, based on a paired sign test. Based on validation results suggestions for future improvements are proposed

    Multiplierz: An Extensible API Based Desktop Environment for Proteomics Data Analysis

    BACKGROUND. Efficient analysis of results from mass spectrometry-based proteomics experiments requires access to disparate data types, including native mass spectrometry files, output from algorithms that assign peptide sequence to MS/MS spectra, and annotation for proteins and pathways from various database sources. Moreover, proteomics technologies and experimental methods are not yet standardized; hence a high degree of flexibility is necessary for efficient support of high- and low-throughput data analytic tasks. Development of a desktop environment that is sufficiently robust for deployment in data analytic pipelines, and simultaneously supports customization for programmers and non-programmers alike, has proven to be a significant challenge. RESULTS. We describe multiplierz, a flexible and open-source desktop environment for comprehensive proteomics data analysis. We use this framework to expose a prototype version of our recently proposed common API (mzAPI) designed for direct access to proprietary mass spectrometry files. In addition to routine data analytic tasks, multiplierz supports generation of information rich, portable spreadsheet-based reports. Moreover, multiplierz is designed around a "zero infrastructure" philosophy, meaning that it can be deployed by end users with little or no system administration support. Finally, access to multiplierz functionality is provided via high-level Python scripts, resulting in a fully extensible data analytic environment for rapid development of custom algorithms and deployment of high-throughput data pipelines. CONCLUSION.     Classifying document types to enhance search and recommendations in digital libraries

    In this paper, we address the problem of classifying documents available from the global network of (open access) repositories according to their type. We show that the metadata provided by repositories enabling us to distinguish research papers, thesis and slides are missing in over 60% of cases. While these metadata describing document types are useful in a variety of scenarios ranging from research analytics to improving search and recommender (SR) systems, this problem has not yet been sufficiently addressed in the context of the repositories infrastructure. We have developed a new approach for classifying document types using supervised machine learning based exclusively on text specific features. We achieve 0.96 F1-score using the random forest and Adaboost classifiers, which are the best performing models on our data. By analysing the SR system logs of the CORE [1] digital library aggregator, we show that users are an order of magnitude more likely to click on research papers and thesis than on slides. The main reason for this project is to research ideas on encourage senior people to make use of the web to locate helps they want, such as finding volunteers and professional helps. The scope of this project is to develop a new way of web access and content presentation methodologies that let senior people getting help from volunteers and various service providers more easily that incorporates social networking technology e.g. Facebook. By incorporating the social network web site like Facebook into the web application, senior people will be able to find volunteering help or other related service providers through social networking. Volunteers will show up in Google map in search results for senior to easily locate helps. Senior people can also search for self help videos tutorials through the web application search engine. A mobile version of the senior user application will also be developed for easy access on the road. Other features that benefit senior users includes voice input, control / content posting and collaborative social networking where a sponsors would sponsor a help task volunteer undertake

In this project, we designed and implemented a chatbot Framework for Yioop. The goal of the Chatbot Framework for Yioop project is to provide a platform for developers in Yioop to build and deploy chatbot applications. A chatbot is a web service that can converse with users using artificial intelligence in messaging platforms. Chatbots feel more like a human and it changes the interaction between people and computers. The Chatbot Framework enables developers to create chatbots and allows users to connect with them in the user chosen Yioop discussion channel. A developer can incorporate language skills within a chatbot by creating a knowledge base so that the chatbot understands user messages and reacts to them like a human. A knowledge base is created by using a language understanding web interface in Yioop

Video-sharing is becoming more and more popular in e-learing, but the current famous websites like youtube are not structured when it come to serving the purpose of providing educational videos for preschool and high school students. There is a need to fill building more educationally focused video site, where the content is more structured, easy to use, support both direct search and browsing, and follow a particular curriculum for preschool and high school students. This report discuss the issues like categorization and search interface of these sites and propose alternatives to existing ones out there. In this project, I have built an educational website for preschool, high school, and college level students concentrating on improved categorization and search interface of the site.
