Kernel Method Based Human Model for Enhancing Interactive Evolutionary Optimization
A fitness landscape presents the relationship
between individual and its reproductive success in evolutionary
computation (EC). However, discrete and approximate
landscape in an original search space may
not support enough and accurate information for EC
search, especially in interactive EC (IEC). The fitness
landscape of human subjective evaluation in IEC is very
difficult and impossible to model, even with a hypothesis
of what its definition might be. In this paper, we
propose a method to establish a human model in projected
high dimensional search space by kernel classification
for enhancing IEC search. Because bivalent logic
is a simplest perceptual paradigm, the human model
is established by considering this paradigm principle.
In feature space, we design a linear classifier as a human
model to obtain user preference knowledge, which
cannot be supported linearly in original discrete search
space. The human model is established by this method
for predicting potential perceptual knowledge of human.
With the human model, we design an evolution
control method to enhance IEC search. From experimental
evaluation results with a pseudo-IEC user, our proposed model and method can enhance IEC search
significantly
Evolutionary Computation
This book presents several recent advances on Evolutionary Computation, specially evolution-based optimization methods and hybrid algorithms for several applications, from optimization and learning to pattern recognition and bioinformatics. This book also presents new algorithms based on several analogies and metafores, where one of them is based on philosophy, specifically on the philosophy of praxis and dialectics. In this book it is also presented interesting applications on bioinformatics, specially the use of particle swarms to discover gene expression patterns in DNA microarrays. Therefore, this book features representative work on the field of evolutionary computation and applied sciences. The intended audience is graduate, undergraduate, researchers, and anyone who wishes to become familiar with the latest research work on this field
Proceedings of the First PhD Symposium on Sustainable Ultrascale Computing Systems (NESUS PhD 2016)
Proceedings of the First PhD Symposium on Sustainable Ultrascale Computing Systems (NESUS PhD 2016) Timisoara, Romania. February 8-11, 2016.The PhD Symposium was a very good opportunity for the young researchers to share information and knowledge, to
present their current research, and to discuss topics with other students in order to look for synergies and common research
topics. The idea was very successful and the assessment made by the PhD Student was very good. It also helped to
achieve one of the major goals of the NESUS Action: to establish an open European research network targeting sustainable
solutions for ultrascale computing aiming at cross fertilization among HPC, large scale distributed systems, and big
data management, training, contributing to glue disparate researchers working across different areas and provide a meeting
ground for researchers in these separate areas to exchange ideas, to identify synergies, and to pursue common activities in
research topics such as sustainable software solutions (applications and system software stack), data management, energy
efficiency, and resilience.European Cooperation in Science and Technology. COS

Trends and achievements
Similar to the previous edition, this event continued to be very competitive in its selection process and very well perceived by the international software engineering community. As such, it is attracting excellent contributions and active participation from all over the world. We were very pleased to receive a large amount of top quality contributions.
We take here the opportunity to warmly thank all the members of the ICSEA 2021 technical program committee as well as the numerous reviewers. The creation of such a broad and high quality conference program would not have been possible without their involvement. We also kindly thank all the authors that dedicated much of their time and efforts to contribute to the ICSEA 2021. We truly believe that thanks to all these efforts, the final conference program consists of top quality contributions.
This event could also not have been a reality without the support of many individuals, organizations and sponsors. We also gratefully thank the members of the ICSEA 2021 organizing committee for their help in handling the logistics and for their work that is making this professional meeting a success.
We hope the ICSEA 2021 was a successful international forum for the exchange of ideas and results between academia and industry and to promote further progress in software engineering research
Advances in Evolutionary Algorithms
With the recent trends towards massive data sets and significant computational power, combined with evolutionary algorithmic advances evolutionary computation is becoming much more relevant to practice. Aim of the book is to present recent improvements, innovative ideas and concepts in a part of a huge EA field
Semantic discovery and reuse of business process patterns
Patterns currently play an important role in modern information systems (IS) development and their use has mainly been restricted to the design and implementation phases of the development lifecycle. Given the increasing significance of business modelling in IS development, patterns have the potential of providing a viable solution for promoting reusability of recurrent generalized models in the very early stages of development. As a statement of research-in-progress this paper focuses on business process patterns and proposes an initial methodological framework for the discovery and reuse of business process patterns within the IS development lifecycle. The framework borrows ideas from the domain engineering literature and proposes the use of semantics to drive both the discovery of patterns as well as their reuse
Applications
Volume 3 describes how resource-aware machine learning methods and techniques are used to successfully solve real-world problems. The book provides numerous specific application examples: in health and medicine for risk modelling, diagnosis, and treatment selection for diseases in electronics, steel production and milling for quality control during manufacturing processes in traffic, logistics for smart cities and for mobile communications
