Today, mobile technology is rapidly changing our life with increasing numbers of services supported by mobile phones, including mobile Internet access and Web-based mobile learning. The growth of the wireless Internet technology opens new path for people to study in anytime and any location. Using Web-based mobile application to present learning resources for mobile learners is a challenge for developers, because the mobile Internet access performance over GPRS networks is often unacceptably slow. A new Web development model, Ajax, may help to address this problem. Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), is a new desktop approach to Web application development that uses client-side scripting to provide a seamless user application experience and reduce traffic between client and server. In this paper, we address the question of whether mobile Ajax provides measurable performance advantages over non-Ajax mobile learning applications. A real-life Web-based mobile learning application performance over a GPRS network study was done based on comparing an Ajax application and an Active Server Pages (ASP) application with identical functionality. Our results suggest that mobile Ajax can reduce the bandwidth requirement by 71%, and cut the server's response time in half. In addition, these performance improvements were noticed by users in our small group usability test

Total Recall for AJAX applications – Firefox extension

Ajax, or AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), is a group of interrelated web development techniques used to create interactive web applications or rich Internet applications[9]. Web applications can retrieve data from the server asynchronously in the background without interfering with the display and behavior of an existing web page. [9] One of the biggest problems with Ajax applications is saving state and accommodating the succession of the history controls, (Back/forward buttons). Ajax allows documents to become stateful, but when the user intuitively goes for the history controls in the browser window, things go wrong. The user expects to see the previous state of the document and is surprised to see a webpage they were on 20 minutes ago, before they arrived at the Ajax application. Our project aims to solve this problem. We have implemented an extension to the Firefox Mozilla browser that caches different states of web pages at regular intervals and displays all the different states of the page as the user navigates through the history

    Ajax Mistakes

Ajax, shorthand for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, is a web development technique for creating interactive web applications. The intent is to make web pages feel more responsive by exchanging small amounts of data with the server behind the scenes, so that the entire web page does not have to be reloaded each time the user requests a change. This is meant to increase the web page's interactivity, speed, and usability. However, there are several common mistakes using it, like: using Axaj just for the sake of Ajax, moreover the back button of the browser become unuseful, there might be a delay displaying enhanced GUI widgets, offline content is not supported, concurrent page loading is dramatically slowed down, sensitive information might be sent encrypted, cross-browser implementation is not one of developers primary concerns, concurrent access is not well supported, running the entire application on the client side makes it slower, there is no support for user without a JavaScript enable browser, GUI might change unexpectedly, there are no URLs which may be referred and indexed by users and search engines, pop-up blockers might kill opening windows, there are a lot of asynchronous operations happening in the background which might be difficult to be controlled, inventing new controls which are less intuitive than the classic ones, style and internationalization issues due to partial page rendering, the lack of data posted back from the user, Web traffic cannot be reported for each section of a given site.Web Technologies, Web Frameworks, AJAX, Asynchronous HTTP Request, User-friendly Interfaces

Retailers find themselves up against fierce competition. They must fight for every sale, and work hard to build customer loyalty and protect already slim margins. Today, an increasing number of smaller retailers understand the urgent need to catch up to larger players to remain competitive. They also recognize the important role that IT investments play in organizations strategic decision-making and operational efficiency in all areas of the business, including point of sale, supply chain management, and inventory. The savvy retailer knows that POS (Point Of Sale) data and functionality has quickly become critical to business rather than a mere convenience. In recent time Ajax based applications have become very popular. Ajax is a new model for web applications to provide more responsive and faster user interfaces resembling more closely to dekstop applications. Typical usage areas are user input validation without page submission, integrating small elements from several servers on a single page, and simulating push-services. Especially the latter are promising for enhancing web applications and for realizing them directly in browsers without plug-ins or additional software. Many frameworks and libraries (open source or comercial) are available which support Ajax development. In this final project, we will integrate some open-source Ajax framework to build low-cost, interactive and integrate POS (Point Of Sale) systems which is accessible to a wide retailer through the Internet. This is we call as iPOS. We hope its will become a solution for retailers to run their business more efective and effisien

The essential feature of Internet GIS is the interactivity between the users and the spatial data. Interactive GIS can offer interactive maps rather than static map images on the Web. Users can work with the maps interactively by performing conventionalGIS functions such as zoom, pan, search, etc. However, the interactivity of many InternetGIS is quite limited so far. In this paper, we propose to use AJAX to improve the interactivity of Internet GIS. AJAX design patterns that can be used to this aim are described in the paper. We present the architecture of the Internet GIS with AJAX-based user interface and integration with GIS web services.Darbe apžvelgtos technologijos, skirtos interaktyvių internete veikiančių GIS kūrimui. Išnagrinėta AJAX internetinių programų kūrimo paradigma, leidžianti pasiekti aukštesnį internetinių programų interaktyvumo lygį. Apžvelgti tipiniai AJAX projektavimo šablonai, kuriuos galima panaudoti, kuriant internete veikiančias GIS. Pateikta AJAX grindžiama internetinės GIS architektūra

AbstractIn the age of Web2.0, lots of online social networks (OSNs) like Facebook, Twitter, WeiBo become the most popular information transform platform, which catch more and more attention from Information Retrieval (IR). However, traditional web crawling System get into trouble because of the complicated OSN web pages, the rapid message exploding and the heavy using of Asynchronous JavaScript and XML(AJAX). We design and implement a distributed system based on Message Oriented Middleware (MOM) and Ajax simulation, which crawls 70 millions of Twitter detail items in one month. The data Acquisition shows that the crawling with Ajax simulation is able to get items loaded by Ajax without limitations, the distributed system based on MOM and Ajax simulation is able to crawl massive OSN data completely, quickly, frequently and unrestrictedly
