Multilevel Clustering Fault Model for IC Manufacture
A hierarchical approach to the construction of compound distributions for
process-induced faults in IC manufacture is proposed. Within this framework,
the negative binomial distribution is treated as level-1 models. The
hierarchical approach to fault distribution offers an integrated picture of how
fault density varies from region to region within a wafer, from wafer to wafer
within a batch, and so on. A theory of compound-distribution hierarchies is
developed by means of generating functions. A study of correlations, which
naturally appears in microelectronics due to the batch character of IC
manufacture, is proposed. Taking these correlations into account is of
significant importance for developing procedures for statistical quality
control in IC manufacture. With respect to applications, hierarchies of yield
means and yield probability-density functions are considered.Comment: 10 pages, the International Conference "Micro- and Nanoelectronics-

Coordination, Cooperation, and Collaboration: Defining the C3 Framework
The term C3 refers to the framework of coordinative, cooperative and collaborative relationships within the realm of external supply chain partnerships. Each unique partnership offers both benefits and challenges within a supply chain and must be aligned with company and supply chain strategy in order to achieve maximum effectiveness. This paper aims to fill the current void in supply chain literature concerning C3 by defining each term based upon current supply chain research as well as give the most prevalent characteristics and differences between each “C” in this phase model. This research is then compared to the industry through a case study of a major international retailer. Finally, we propose a set of propositions that organizations can use to assess at what level their external relationships reside within the phase model as well as how companies move and evolve their relationships between the levels and what the trigger mechanisms are in this evolution
Multi-fidelity Design of Porous Microstructures for Thermofluidic Applications
As modern electronic devices are increasingly miniaturized and integrated,
their performance relies more heavily on effective thermal management.
Two-phase cooling methods enhanced by porous surfaces, which capitalize on
thin-film evaporation atop structured porous surfaces, are emerging as
potential solutions. In such porous structures, the optimum heat dissipation
capacity relies on two competing objectives that depend on mass and heat
transfer. The computational costs of evaluating these objectives, the high
dimensionality of the design space which a voxelated microstructure
representation, and the manufacturability constraints hinder the optimization
process for thermal management. We address these challenges by developing a
data-driven framework for designing optimal porous microstructures for cooling
applications. In our framework we leverage spectral density functions (SDFs) to
encode the design space via a handful of interpretable variables and, in turn,
efficiently search it. We develop physics-based formulas to quantify the
thermofluidic properties and feasibility of candidate designs via offline
simulations. To decrease the reliance on expensive simulations, we generate
multi-fidelity data and build emulators to find Pareto-optimal designs. We
apply our approach to a canonical problem on evaporator wick design and obtain
fin-like topologies in the optimal microstructures which are also
characteristics often observed in industrial applications.Comment: 24 pages, 10 figure
Perspectives of Integrated “Next Industrial Revolution” Clusters in Poland and Siberia
Rozdział z: Functioning of the Local Production Systems in Central and Eastern European Countries and Siberia. Case Studies and Comparative Studies, ed. Mariusz E. Sokołowicz. The paper presents the mapping of potential next industrial revolution clusters in Poland and Siberia. Deindustrialization of the cities and struggles with its consequences are one of the fundamental economic problems in current global economy. Some hope to find an answer to that problem is associated with the idea of next industrial revolution and reindustrialization initiatives. In the paper, projects aimed at developing next industrial revolution clusters are analyzed. The objective of the research was to examine new industrial revolution paradigm as a platform for establishing university-based trans-border industry clusters in Poland and Siberia47 and to raise awareness of next industry revolution initiatives.Monograph financed under a contract of execution of the international scientific project within 7th Framework Programme of the European Union, co-financed by Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (title: “Functioning of the Local Production Systems in the Conditions of Economic Crisis (Comparative Analysis and Benchmarking for the EU and Beyond”)). A Unified Wireless Sensor Network Framework
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have been a significant area of research over the past decade. WSN systems are used in a wide range of applications such as surveillance, environmental monitoring, target tracking, wildlife tracking, personal health monitoring, machinery monitoring, and many others. With such wide ranging applications, there is active research in nearly every facet of the field including network topologies, communication protocols, node localization, time synchronization, and sensor data processing. This movement has largely been the result of the advances in microelectronics and low-power radio systems. These advancements have enabled the design and implementation of small, powerful, low-power, wireless sensor network systems. Like any emerging technology, a standard needs to be established to allow the advances in the field to be directly leveraged rather than requiring reinvention. This paper outlines the traditional approaches to WSN system design, and in contrast, proposes the necessary components of a unified WSN framework that would support the majority of present applications as well as providing the foundation for further advancements in the field
Storage Solutions for Big Data Systems: A Qualitative Study and Comparison
Big data systems development is full of challenges in view of the variety of
application areas and domains that this technology promises to serve.
Typically, fundamental design decisions involved in big data systems design
include choosing appropriate storage and computing infrastructures. In this age
of heterogeneous systems that integrate different technologies for optimized
solution to a specific real world problem, big data system are not an exception
to any such rule. As far as the storage aspect of any big data system is
concerned, the primary facet in this regard is a storage infrastructure and
NoSQL seems to be the right technology that fulfills its requirements. However,
every big data application has variable data characteristics and thus, the
corresponding data fits into a different data model. This paper presents
feature and use case analysis and comparison of the four main data models
namely document oriented, key value, graph and wide column. Moreover, a feature
analysis of 80 NoSQL solutions has been provided, elaborating on the criteria
and points that a developer must consider while making a possible choice.
Typically, big data storage needs to communicate with the execution engine and
other processing and visualization technologies to create a comprehensive
solution. This brings forth second facet of big data storage, big data file
formats, into picture. The second half of the research paper compares the
advantages, shortcomings and possible use cases of available big data file
formats for Hadoop, which is the foundation for most big data computing
technologies. Decentralized storage and blockchain are seen as the next
generation of big data storage and its challenges and future prospects have
also been discussed
