Violence detection behavior is a particular problem regarding the great problem action recognition. In recent years, the detection and recognition of violence has been studied for several applications, namely in surveillance. In this paper, we conducted a recent systematic review of the literature on this subject, covering a selection of various researched papers. The selected works were classified into three main approaches for violence detection: video, audio, and multimodal audio and video. Our analysis provides a roadmap to guide future research to design automatic violence detection systems. Techniques related to the extraction and description of resources to represent behavior are also reviewed. Classification methods and structures for behavior modelling are also provided.European Structural and Investment Funds in the FEDER component, through the Operational Competitiveness and Internationalization Programme (COMPETE 2020) [Project n ∘ 039334; Funding Reference: POCI-01-0247-FEDER-039334]. Spatio-temporal action localization with Deep Learning

Dissertação de mestrado em Engenharia InformáticaThe system that detects and identifies human activities are named human action recognition. On the video approach, human activity is classified into four different categories, depending on the complexity of the steps and the number of body parts involved in the action, namely gestures, actions, interactions, and activities, which is challenging for video Human action recognition to capture valuable and discriminative features because of the human body’s variations. So, deep learning techniques have provided practical applications in multiple fields of signal processing, usually surpassing traditional signal processing on a large scale. Recently, several applications, namely surveillance, human-computer interaction, and video recovery based on its content, have studied violence’s detection and recognition. In recent years there has been a rapid growth in the production and consumption of a wide variety of video data due to the popularization of high quality and relatively low-price video devices. Smartphones and digital cameras contributed a lot to this factor. At the same time, there are about 300 hours of video data updates every minute on YouTube. Along with the growing production of video data, new technologies such as video captioning, answering video surveys, and video-based activity/event detection are emerging every day. From the video input data, the detection of human activity indicates which activity is contained in the video and locates the regions in the video where the activity occurs. This dissertation has conducted an experiment to identify and detect violence with spatial action localization, adapting a public dataset for effect. The idea was used an annotated dataset of general action recognition and adapted only for violence detection.O sistema que deteta e identifica as atividades humanas é denominado reconhecimento da ação humana.

Given the tremendous growth of ubiquitous services in our daily lives, during the last few decades we have witnessed a definitive change in the way users' experience their surroundings. At the current state of art, devices are able to sense the environment and users’ location, enabling them to experience improved digital services, creating synergistic loop between the use of the technology, and the use of the space itself. We coined the term Senseable Space, to define the kinds of spaces able to provide users with contextual services, to measure and analyse their dynamics and to react accordingly, in a seamless exchange of information. Following the paradigm of Senseable Spaces as the main thread, we selected a set of experiences carried out in different fields; central to this investigation there is of course the user, placed in the dual roles of end-user and manager. The main contribution of this thesis lies in the definition of this new paradigm, realized in the following domains: Cultural Heritage, Public Open Spaces, Geosciences and Retail. For the Cultural Heritage panorama, different pilot projects have been constructed from creating museum based installations to developing mobile applications for archaeological settings. Dealing with urban areas, app-based services are designed to facilitate the route finding in a urban park and to provide contextual information in a city festival. We also outlined a novel application to facilitate the on-site inspection by risk managers thanks to the use of Augmented Reality services. Finally, a robust indoor localization system has been developed, designed to ease customer profiling in the retail sector. The thesis also demonstrates how Space Sensing and Geomatics are complementary to one another, given the assumption that the branches of Geomatics cover all the different scales of data collection, whilst Space Sensing gives one the possibility to provide the services at the correct location, at the correct time
