    A Graph Rewriting Approach for Transformational Design of Digital Systems

    Transformational design integrates design and verification. It combines “correctness by construction” and design creativity by the use of pre-proven behaviour preserving transformations as design steps. The formal aspects of this methodology are hidden in the transformations. A constraint is the availability of a design representation with a compositional formal semantics. Graph representations are useful design representations because of their visualisation of design information. In this paper graph rewriting theory, as developed in the last twenty years in mathematics, is shown to be a useful basis for a formal framework for transformational design. The semantic aspects of graphs which are no part of graph rewriting theory are included by the use of attributed graphs.     Virtual Team Collaboration: A Review of Literature and Perspectives

    Along with the widespread use of information technologies (IT) and the increasing geographical span of tasks held by various organizations, Virtual Teams (VTs) rose as an alternative organizational form which has the potential to deeply change the workplace. This article provides a review of previously published work on collaboration in VTs. The review is organized around two perspectives adopted by scholars, namely technological and managerial. This analysis underlines two major constructs that leads to an efficient VT collaboration, i.e. the context in which the collaboration is held and the collaboration style. While the former is illustrated by knowledge and team characteristics, the latter is identified by technological media and leadership. Building on this classification, we suggest a model and explore future research directions with a particular attention to the implications for collaboration in organizations.Collaboration, Virtual Team, Knowledge Sharing, Literature Review

    On-Campus, Virtual, Blended, and Triple Systems of Teaching-Learning: Fitness and Relevance for Private Universities in Bangladesh

    In the transition to the post-pandemic phase, the blended teaching-learning modality seems to be a good solution for universities. But the post-pandemic paradigm seemingly calls for a triple-system of classes, i.e., on-campus classes, blended teaching-learning, and virtual classes separately under separate plans and schedules. The paper explored a clear-cut conceptual understanding of the concepts of “virtual classes,” “blended teaching-learning,” and “triple-system of classes.” The study contributed a comprehensive framework with teaching-learning modalities, especially for private universities in Bangladesh, in the pandemic period, the transition to the post-pandemic period, and the post-pandemic paradigm.     An evolutionary approach to the use of petri net based models : from parallel controllers to Hw/Sw codesign

    The main purpose of this article is to present how Petri Nets (PNs) have been used for hardware design at our research laboratory. We describe the use of PN models to specify synchronous parallel controllers and how PN specifications can be extended to include the behavioural description of the data path, by using object-oriented concepts. Some hierarchical mechanisms which deal with the specification of complex digital systems are highlighted. It is described a design flow that includes, among others, the automatic generation of VHDL code to synthesize the control unit of the system. The use of PNs as part of a multiple-view model within an object-oriented methodology for hardware/software codesign is debated. The EDgAR-2 platform is considered as the reconfigurable target architecture for implementing the systems and its main characteristics are shown

    The HERO in you: The impact of psychological capital training and perceived leadership on follower psychological capital development and burnout

    Psychological capital has become a popular construct in the workplace, relating to important organizational outcomes such as job performance and organizational commitment. It is a higher-order construct comprised of hope, efficacy, resilience, and optimism. A key characteristic of PsyCap is “state-like” and open to development. Studies show that interventions and leadership play a key role in individuals\u27 ability to develop their PsyCap. In the study, I examined whether an online, self-study training could help increase individual PsyCap and decrease burnout. Results indicated that the 40 minute training led to increases in psychological capital (N = 128; t[127] = 4.78, p \u3c .001, d = 21), and perceptions of transformational leadership have no impact on individual psychological capital scores. Additionally, the study found that burnout scores decreased as a function psychological capital training ( t[127)]= 5.77, p \u3c .001, d = .17), and changes in psychological capital scores predict changes in burnout (b = -.44, p = .021). Findings suggested that: (a) psychological capital scores increased due to participation training, (b) follower perceptions of transformational leadership style do not predict changes in PsyCap scores, and (c) psychological capital may be an effective resource against burnout. This research provides practical implications for using psychological capital training to increase individual psychological capital scores. It also lays the groundwork for further studies on psychological capital interventions on more distal outcomes such as job performance
