In the past decade, global competition are forcing firms to increase their level of outsourcing for raw or semi-finished products and building long term relationship with their supply chain partners. The objective is to present a wide-ranging decision making technique for ranking supplier alternatives in view of the effect of selected criteria. A proposed method is developed aiming the usage of Fuzzy-Rasch model applying five point Likert scale for criteria weight and Grey based COmplex PRoportional ASsessment (COPRAS-G) method for evaluating and ranking the potential alternatives, as per criteria. The applicability of the induced methodology for supplier selection problem in all environments is shown through a case study in telecommunication sector. A sensitivity analysis is performed based on changing weight patterns of criteria to show the stability in ranking result of the proposed approach. Further, a comparative analysis between the ranking results of proposed method done with existing grey multi-attribute decision-making methods viz. VIKOR-G, ARAS-G and TOPSIS-G using spearman’s correlation coefficient for checking the reliability of the ranking result

Designing organisational strategies in various businesses is a commonly employed practice; nevertheless, nowadays the strategy portfolio optimisation is one of the major controversial issues. This research proposes an inclusive model to evaluate and select organisational strategies based on the boundaries of its resources. In order to achieve such a model, first of all, a grey COPRAS model is applied to evaluate organisational strategies under uncertain circumstances. Subsequently, on the basis of the aforementioned method, a mixed integer multi-objective linear programming model is depicted to optimise the strategy selection process according to COPRAS-G strategy significance results and with regard to time, cost and other structural constraints as well as organisational policies. Ultimately, a mixed COPRAS G-MODM is transformed to a binary goal programming model and the suggested approach is employed in Iran Mercantile Exchange for strategy portfolio optimisation

Fuzzy COPRAS method for performance measurement in total productive maintenance: a comparative analysis

    Get PDF
Modern manufacturing firms should be supported by effective maintenance to become successful in their operations. One of the approaches for improving the performance of maintenance activities is to implement a total productive maintenance (TPM) strategy. Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is the key measure of TPM. According to the results of the literature review, the performance elements measured by the OEE tool are not sufficient to describe the effectiveness of TPM implementation. Hence, we aim at developing and evaluating new performance measures oriented towards the quantification of TPM implementation effectiveness under fuzzy environment. For the evaluation of each performance measure, at first, the nominal group technique has been used. Then to determine whether these performance measures are statistically significant, conjoint analysis based experimental design has been applied. In the second step, COmplex PRo-portional ASsessment of alternatives with Grey relations (COPRAS-G) and the fuzzy COPRAS method has been developed to evaluate these performance measures in TPM. Proposed fuzzy COPRAS method gives the reassuring results of ranking newly developed performance measures in TPM

Facilitation of suitable accommodation for different travellers is the prime concern of travel agencies. Travel agencies must keep themselves competitive and sustain a good pace of growth to continue raising profits by attracting and retaining as many tourists as possible through meeting their various prospective needs. To achieve this, the agencies must prepare well-organised data for hotels and destinations from a quality control perspective. Initially, the hotels are ranked and evaluated according to performance across several criteria from the tourists’viewpoint. The relative importance of each criterion is mainly subjective and depends on the assessor’s judgement. Additionally, hotels’ rankings vary across different websites, resulting in inconsistencies. To handle such inconsistencies and subjectivity, this paper presents a collective decision-making evaluation framework by integrating a weighted interval rough number (WIRN) method and a WIRN- based complex proportional assessment (COPRAS) model to evaluate and rank hotels. An empirical example and a real-world case study from the Indian tourism industry are presented to validate the applicability of the proposed framework. Finally, a comparison and sensitivity analysis are performed to examine the validity and robustness of the proposed model

Selecting a location for a liquefied natural gas terminal in the Eastern Baltic Sea

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industry is among the fastest growing energy market sectors. The gas terminal in Klaipėda allows Lithuania to import natural gas from various countries around the world. One of the most debatable subjects is the location of the future terminal. The problem pertaining to selection of construction sites for the LNG terminal should be investigated and solved using the set of multiple conflicting criteria. Many researchers argue that similar problems should be solved by applying several different Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods. The research presents the model for application of three different MCDM methods and aggregation of solution results for the problem, which is based both on different objective data and on investigation of expert opinions for determining subjective criteria weights for the problem

Multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques have been widely adopted to evaluate the effectiveness of e-learning. However, the literature review has not kept pace with the rapid accumulation of knowledge in this field. This study systematically reviews the MCDM techniques applied in e-learning issues. In total, we reviewed 77 published studies selected from the Web of Science and Scopus databases. We classified the selected studies by the publication year, the authors’ nationality, and the type of MCDM techniques examined. We further discovered that the majority of previous studies adopted Information System Success Model (D&M model) which was proposed by Delone and McLean in 1992. Due to limited features that were provided by the e-learning system back in the mid-2000, the original D&M model might not consider some significant factors such as students’ characteristics, instructors’ characteristics, user interface and learning community. The goals of this systematic literature review are to understand if the original D&M model is addressed in modern e-learning and to determine if new factors have emerged to evaluate e-learning’s effectiveness but not captured by the original D&M model. This review contributes three new theoretical perspectives. First, reclassification of the D&M model is conducted to include learners’ characteristics, instructors’ characteristics, user interface, and learning community. Second, this study discovers that there is a need to perform reclassification of overlapping subfactors. Third, this review also identifies that the dependencies among the factors in the D&M model are inadequately examined in previous studies. Researchers can utilize the findings of this study as a foundation to formulate their research frameworks, and practitioners can integrate the significant factors identified in this study into their decision-making processes when developing e-learning at their institutions

Social media are widely and mostly utilized in many areas to increase advertising, client relations, tourism, journey and many others by means of members or organizations. Social Media Platforms (SMPs) are becoming increasingly popular in the world. The selection of SMPs, which might be widely and mostly utilized by members or organizations, becomes a critical and complex problem. Moreover, some problems that need to be investigated which consist of the reason for the use of different SMPs, purpose, and frequency of use. In this study, we have investigated to explain these problems via questionnaire which evaluates by undergraduate pupils (N = 173). Therefore, we have created twelve different scenarios that are different weights and thresholds and handled the selection and ranking of SMPs by fuzzy Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE) I and II. Consequently, we able to conclude that "Which SMPs were more preferred?", "What are the reasons for selection of SMPs? and "Which criteria are more important for this selection?". In addition, this study can be guiding an infrastructure for the content of new SPMs in the future
