    EXPLOITING N-GRAM IMPORTANCE AND ADDITIONAL KNOWEDGE BASED ON WIKIPEDIA FOR IMPROVEMENTS IN GAAC BASED DOCUMENT CLUSTERING

    This paper provides a solution to the issue: “How can we use Wikipedia based concepts in document\ud clustering with lesser human involvement, accompanied by effective improvements in result?” In the\ud devised system, we propose a method to exploit the importance of N-grams in a document and use\ud Wikipedia based additional knowledge for GAAC based document clustering. The importance of N-grams\ud in a document depends on several features including, but not limited to: frequency, position of their\ud occurrence in a sentence and the position of the sentence in which they occur, in the document. First, we\ud introduce a new similarity measure, which takes the weighted N-gram importance into account, in the\ud calculation of similarity measure while performing document clustering. As a result, the chances of topical similarity in clustering are improved. Second, we use Wikipedia as an additional knowledge base both, to remove noisy entries from the extracted N-grams and to reduce the information gap between N-grams that are conceptually-related, which do not have a match owing to differences in writing scheme or strategies. Our experimental results on the publicly available text dataset clearly show that our devised system has a significant improvement in performance over bag-of-words based state-of-the-art systems in this area

    Self-Healing Protocols for Connectivity Maintenance in Unstructured Overlays

    In this paper, we discuss on the use of self-organizing protocols to improve the reliability of dynamic Peer-to-Peer (P2P) overlay networks. Two similar approaches are studied, which are based on local knowledge of the nodes' 2nd neighborhood. The first scheme is a simple protocol requiring interactions among nodes and their direct neighbors. The second scheme adds a check on the Edge Clustering Coefficient (ECC), a local measure that allows determining edges connecting different clusters in the network. The performed simulation assessment evaluates these protocols over uniform networks, clustered networks and scale-free networks. Different failure modes are considered.     NASARI: a novel approach to a Semantically-Aware Representation of items

    The semantic representation of individual word senses and concepts is of fundamental importance to several applications in Natural Language Processing. To date, concept modeling techniques have in the main based their representation either on lexicographic resources, such as WordNet, or on encyclopedic resources, such as Wikipedia. We propose a vector representation technique that combines the complementary knowledge of both these types of resource. Thanks to its use of explicit semantics combined with a novel cluster-based dimensionality reduction and an effective weighting scheme, our representation attains state-of-the-art performance on multiple datasets in two standard benchmarks: word similarity and sense clustering.     Clustering of Web Users Using Session-based Similarity Measures

    One important research topic in web usage mining is the clustering of web users based on their common properties. Informative knowledge obtained from web user clusters were used for many applications, such as the prefetching of pages between web clients and proxies. This paper presents an approach for measuring similarity of interests among web users from their past access behaviors. The similarity measures are based on the user sessions extracted from the user\u27s access logs. A multi-level scheme for clustering a large number of web users is proposed, as an extension to the method proposed in our previous work (2001). Experiments were conducted and the results obtained show that our clustering method is capable of clustering web users with similar interest

    Introduction: This article is the product of the research “Learning-based Spectrum Analysis and Prediction in Cognitive Radio Sensor Networks”, developed at Sejong University in the year 2019. Problem: Most of the clustering schemes for distributed cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensor networks consider homogeneous cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensors. Many clustering schemes for such homogeneouscognitive radio-enabled wireless sensor networks waste resources and suffer from energy inefficiency because of the unnecessary overheads. Objective: The objective of the research is to propose a node clustering scheme that conserves energy and prolongs network lifetime. Methodology: A heterogeneous cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensor network in which only a few nodes have a cognitive radio module and the other nodes are normal sensor nodes. Along with the hardware cost, theproposed scheme is efficient in energy consumption. Results: We simulated the proposed scheme and compared it with the homogeneous cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensor networks. The results show that the proposed scheme is efficient in terms of energyconsumption. Conclusion: The proposed node clustering scheme performs better in terms of network energy conservation and network partition. Originality: There are heterogeneous node clustering schemes in the literature for cooperative spectrum sensing and energy efficiency, but to the best of our knowledge, there is no study that proposes a non-cognitiveradio-enabled sensor clustering for energy conservation along with cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensors. Limitations: The deployment of the proposed special device for cognitive radio-enabled wireless sensors is complicated and requires special hardware with better battery powered cognitive sensor nodes

    WikiSearch: An Information Retrieval System

    WikiSearch is an information retrieval system (based on the vector space model) that can be used for searching Wikipedia, one of the largest knowledge bases in the world. Clustering techniques are utilized to group semantically related documents and improve the efficiency of the search system. Clustering allows relevant documents that do not match a query’s explicit form to be retrieved. Cluster labels are automatically generated using document features to provide a faceted browsing service for exploration and discovery. We also propose a storage scheme for creating and managing inverted index and clustering information using a NoSQL database. Finally, performance results are provided for the search system
