Few-Shot Bayesian Imitation Learning with Logical Program Policies
Humans can learn many novel tasks from a very small number (1--5) of
demonstrations, in stark contrast to the data requirements of nearly tabula
rasa deep learning methods. We propose an expressive class of policies, a
strong but general prior, and a learning algorithm that, together, can learn
interesting policies from very few examples. We represent policies as logical
combinations of programs drawn from a domain-specific language (DSL), define a
prior over policies with a probabilistic grammar, and derive an approximate
Bayesian inference algorithm to learn policies from demonstrations. In
experiments, we study five strategy games played on a 2D grid with one shared
DSL. After a few demonstrations of each game, the inferred policies generalize
to new game instances that differ substantially from the demonstrations. Our
policy learning is 20--1,000x more data efficient than convolutional and fully
convolutional policy learning and many orders of magnitude more computationally
efficient than vanilla program induction. We argue that the proposed method is
an apt choice for tasks that have scarce training data and feature significant,
structured variation between task instances.Comment: AAAI 202
CHR as grammar formalism. A first report
Grammars written as Constraint Handling Rules (CHR) can be executed as
efficient and robust bottom-up parsers that provide a straightforward,
non-backtracking treatment of ambiguity. Abduction with integrity constraints
as well as other dynamic hypothesis generation techniques fit naturally into
such grammars and are exemplified for anaphora resolution, coordination and

Towards a more natural and intelligent interface with embodied conversation agent
Conversational agent also known as chatterbots are computer programs which are designed to converse like a human as much as their intelligent allows. In many ways, they are the embodiment of Turing's vision. The ability for computers to converse with human users using natural language would arguably increase their usefulness. Recent advances in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in general have advances this field in realizing the vision of a more humanoid interactive system. This paper presents and discusses the use of embodied conversation agent (ECA) for the imitation games. This paper also presents the technical design of our ECA and its performance. DNA ANALYSIS USING GRAMMATICAL INFERENCE
An accurate language definition capable of distinguishing between coding and non-coding DNA has important applications and analytical significance to the field of computational biology. The method proposed here uses positive sample grammatical inference and statistical information to infer languages for coding DNA.
An algorithm is proposed for the searching of an optimal subset of input sequences for the inference of regular grammars by optimizing a relevant accuracy metric. The algorithm does not guarantee the finding of the optimal subset; however, testing shows improvement in accuracy and performance over the basis algorithm.
Testing shows that the accuracy of inferred languages for components of DNA are consistently accurate. By using the proposed algorithm languages are inferred for coding DNA with average conditional probability over 80%. This reveals that languages for components of DNA can be inferred and are useful independent of the process that created them. These languages can then be analyzed or used for other tasks in computational biology.
To illustrate potential applications of regular grammars for DNA components, an inferred language for exon sequences is applied as post processing to Hidden Markov exon prediction to reduce the number of wrong exons detected and improve the specificity of the model significantly
