Protection of intellectual property rights an Indian perspective
The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of the Indian Innovation System, IPR system and other related activities such as Judicial System, Enforcement System, and Academic Institutions etc. The paper is based on the existing data and relates those data and results to the Indiaâs Intellectual Property Rights System, Innovation, Research and Development. This paper focus on the recent reforms in IPR laws to achieve a legal framework for protecting IPR that is comparable to that of most developed nations. As a part Information Technology, three major IT organizations focus on innovation and research discussed in addition to an overview about major multinational companiesâ research initiatives in India
Application of Web 2.0 Technologies for Integration of Land-use and Transportation System
Transportation networks are the life line of any city but only when the decision of land-use system and
transportation system are integrated in smart and intelligent ways. The present paper examines the
complexities of development and planning decision that are embedded in the process for finding an effective
solution for integration of land-use and transportation system. The present paper also answers the question
that how society democratically and effectively access to Web 2.0 technologies for spatial information and
translate the virtually tested, analyzed design in the real world. In overall, the paper tries to frame a concept
to use Web 2.0 technologies as a tool for establishing Intelligent Transportation System within the existing
land-use system. No doubt Web 2.0 technologies in the cybernetic age is the fastest way to access, collect,
analyze and transfer spatial information and providing innovative, sustainable, participatory solutions for
effective government and community empowerment. However, the use of Web 2.0 technologies in
transportation system is not the part of smart city model in India. Hence, the paper will act as a guiding
principle and methodology for Smart City Mission in India. The paper also suggests the possible ways to
establish Web 2.0 technologies applications for intelligent transport system through community base local
Neighbourhood Digital Technology Center (NDTC). The establishment of NDTC will give local urban
community free hand to tailored or customized Web 2.0 software as per their need and requirement and
generate or manipulate their own information or spatial data rather than given answer or raised query to the
predefined proposed land-use map
Governance with sustainable development: Overcoming the barriers
Indian organisations often face allegations or charges of red-tapism whereby
collected evidences for future planning with sustainable development become
inaccessible due to a number of reasons. Whereas it is pertinent to note that,
governance of a state/nation depends upon the trust of the people to receive
tangible/intangible opportunities for development in the socio-economic, legal
environment. When there is deficit of trust due to corrupt practices, tracing
the source for decision becomes a herculean task. The authors hypothesize that
the evidences collected through investigations end up being discarded or
locked up and stacked in files and never is considered for relevant for future
decisions. We propose to find the actionable forces who try to use âpowerâ to
strategically attain their desired goals. The paper intends to discuss the
role of interested groups or state actors (top bureaucratic, politicians, and
business houses) who have access to such information where scientific probe
could be set up and evidence gets collected for larger good of the society.
The authors hypothesize that stakeholders would incrementally destroy the core
evidences such that relevant information gets disjointed for future decision
making and sustainable development to give themselves a raised platform to
continue their power wielding. The authors intend to compare UK model of
evidence generation with that of Indian model. We propose to highlight the
necessary changes to formulate relevant laws and procedures with respect to
evidence collection and the accessibility of information of the policy making
decisions of the governments

India: Domestic Issues, Strategic Dynamics, and U.S. Relations
[Excerpt] President Barack Obamaâs Administration has sought to build upon the deepened U.S. engagement with India begun by President Bill Clinton in 2000 and expanded upon during much of the past decade under President G.W. Bush. This âU.S.-India 3.0â diplomacy was most recently on display in July 2011, when the second U.S.-India Strategic Dialogue session saw a large delegation of senior U.S. officials visit New Delhi to discuss a broad range of global and bilateral issues. Many analysts view the U.S.-India relationship as being among the worldâs most important in coming decades and see potentially large benefits to be accrued through engagement on many convergent interests. Bilateral initiatives are underway in all areas, although independent analysts in both countries worry that the partnership has lost momentum in recent years. Outstanding areas of bilateral friction include obstacles to bilateral trade and investment, including in the high-technology sector; outsourcing; the status of conflict in Afghanistan; climate change; and stalled efforts to initiate civil nuclear cooperation.
India is the worldâs most populous democracy and remains firmly committed to representative government and rule of law. Its left-leaning Congress Party-led ruling national coalition has been in power for more than seven years under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, an Oxford-trained economist. New Delhiâs engagement with regional and other states is extensive and reflects its rising geopolitical status. The national economy has been growing rapidlyâIndiaâs is projected to be the worldâs third-largest economy in the foreseeable futureâyet poor infrastructure, booming energy demand, and restrictive trade and investment practices are seen to hamper full economic potential. Despite the growth of a large urban middle-class, Indiaâs remains a largely rural and agriculture-based society, and is home to some 500-600 million people living in poverty.
