    A new sensorless method for switched reluctance motor drives

    This paper describes a new method for indirect sensing of the rotor position in switched reluctance motors (SRMs) using pulse width modulation voltage control. The detection method uses the change of the derivative of the phase current to detect the position where a rotor pole and stator pole start to overlap, giving one position update per energy conversion. As no a priori knowledge of motor parameters is required (except for the numbers of stator and rotor poles), the method is applicable to most SRM topologies in a wide power and speed range and for several inverter topologies. The method allows modest closed-loop dynamic performance. To start up the motor, a feedforward stepping method is used which assures robust startup (even under load) from standstill to a predefined speed at which closed-loop sensorless operation can be applied. Experimental results demonstrate the robust functionality of the method with just one current sensor in the inverter, even with excitation overlap, and the sensorless operation improves with speed. The method is comparable to the back-EMF position estimation for brushless DC motors in principle, performance and cost. A detailed operation and implementation of this scheme is shown, together with steady-state and dynamic transient test results

Seramai 35 orang pelajar diploma kejuruteraan Awam Politeknik Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah , Jitra Kedah terlibat sebagai responden. Statistik deskriptif digunakan dalam mengumpul dan menganalisis data. Secara keseluruhannya dari hasil kajian, menunjukkan para pelajar memberikan maklum balas yang positif terhadap modul pembelajaran kendiri Bahan dan Binaan berasaskan web ini. Dari hasil kajian ini juga didapati bahawa kebanyakan pelajar lebih berminat terhadap menggunakan media yang pelbagai seperti teks, audio dan visual. Walau bagaimana pun masih terdapat beberapa aspek yang perlu diperbaiki untuk memantapkan modul pembelajaran kendiri ini. Bagi menyokong perkembangan dan penggunaan teknologi maklumat dalam pendidikan keijasama daripada pelbagai pihak seperti Kementerian dan Politeknik sendiri diperlukan terutama dari segi kemudahan komputer, kursus penggunaan perisian dan sebagainya.ini adalah penting bagi melahirkan graduan yang berkualiti dan mempunyai pengetahuan yang meluas dalam bidang teknologi pada masa akan datang

    A mixed-signal fuzzy controller and its application to soft start of DC motors

    Presents a mixed-signal fuzzy controller chip and its application to control of DC motors. The controller is based on a multiplexed architecture presented by the authors (1998), where building blocks are also described. We focus here on showing experimental results from an example implementation of this architecture as well as on illustrating its performance in an application that has been proposed and developed. The presented chip implements 64 rules, much more than the reported pure analog monolithic fuzzy controllers, while preserving most of their advantages. Specifically, the measured input-output delay is around 500 ns for a power consumption of 16 mW and the chip area (without pads) is 2.65 mm/sup 2/. In the presented application, sensed motor speed and current are the controller input, while it determines the proper duty cycle to a PWM control circuit for the DC-DC converter that powers the motor drive.     Speed control with low armature loss for very small sensorless brushed DC motors

    A method for speed control of brushed dc motors is presented. It is particularly applicable to motors with armatures of less than 1 cm3. Motors with very small armatures are difficult to control using the usual pulsewidth-modulation (PWM) approach and are apt to overheat if so driven. The technique regulates speed via the back electromotive force but does not require current-discontinuous drives. Armature heating in small motors under PWM drive is explained and quantified. The method is verified through simulation and measurement. Control is improved, and armature losses are minimized. The method can expect to find application in miniature mechatronic equipment

    A motor speed control system for an electronically commutated brushless dc motor is provided which includes a phaselock loop with bidirectional torque control for locking the frequency output of a high density encoder, responsive to actual speed conditions, to a reference frequency signal, corresponding to the desired speed. The system includes a phase comparator, which produces an output in accordance with the difference in phase between the reference and encoder frequency signals, and an integrator-digital-to-analog converter unit, which converts the comparator output into an analog error signal voltage. Compensation circuitry, including a biasing means, is provided to convert the analog error signal voltage to a bidirectional error signal voltage which is utilized by an absolute value amplifier, rotational decoder, power amplifier-commutators, and an arrangement of commutation circuitry
