Highly cited Articles in plant Sciences from Science citation index-Expanded: a scientometric analysis
This paper analyses the 239 publications with more than 1000 citations indexed in SCI-Expanded of Web of Science under research area plant sciences. These publications have been written by 600 authors and from 224 institutes and universities across the world. There are 52 periodicals with impact factor ranging from 0.687-18.918 which published these articles. The most number of highly cited articles were published in Annual Review of Plant Physiology And Plant Molecular Biology (34). Authorship pattern indicates that 25 % of highly cited publications (61) have been written by single author. Two author publications is most prevalent with 90 publications. It is also evident that one paper was written by as many as 42 authors. There are 148 papers in international collaboration and 61 papers without collaboration. Photosynthesis is the most frequent keyword used by authors
Utilising content marketing metrics and social networks for academic visibility
There are numerous assumptions on research evaluation in terms of quality and relevance of academic contributions. Researchers are becoming increasingly acquainted with bibliometric indicators, including; citation analysis, impact factor, h-index, webometrics and academic social networking sites. In this light, this chapter presents a review of these concepts as it considers relevant theoretical underpinnings that are related to the content marketing of scholars. Therefore, this contribution critically evaluates previous papers that revolve on the subject of academic reputation as it deliberates on the individual researchers’ personal branding. It also explains how metrics are currently being used to rank the academic standing of journals as well as higher educational institutions. In a nutshell, this chapter implies that the scholarly impact depends on a number of factors including accessibility of publications, peer review of academic work as well as social networking among scholars.peer-reviewe
Career development tips for today's nursing academic: bibliometrics, altmetrics and social media
© 2016 John Wiley & Sons Ltd Aims: A discussion of bibliometrics, altmetrics and social media for the contemporary nursing scholar and academic researcher. Background: Today's nursing academic faces myriad challenges in balancing their daily life and, in recent years, academic survival has been increasingly challenged by the various research assessment exercises that evaluate the performance of knowledge institutions. As such, it is essential that today's nursing academic keep up to date with the core competencies needed for survival in a modern research career, particularly the intersecting triad of bibliometrics, altmetrics and social media. Design: Discussion paper. Data sources: Published literature and relevant websites. Implications for nursing: The rise of social media and altmetrics has important implications for contemporary nursing scholars who publish their research. Some fundamental questions when choosing a journal might be ‘does it have a Twitter and/or Facebook site, or a blog (or all three)’; and ‘does it have any other presence on social media, such as LinkedIn, Wikipedia, YouTube, ResearchGate and so on?’ Another consequence of embracing social media is that individual academics should also develop their own strategies for promoting and disseminating their work as widely as possible. Conclusion: The rising importance of social media and altmetrics can no longer be ignored, and today's nursing academic now has another facet to consider in their scholarly activities. Despite the changing nature of research dissemination, however, it is still important to recognize the undoubted value of established knowledge dissemination routes (that being the peer-reviewed publication)
Bibliometric analysis of Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine from 2008 to 2019
The purpose of the study is to assess the scientific research productions in Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine (APJTM) from its first issue up to Dec 2019. We used the Web of Science Core Collection (SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI) to extract the relevant documents. Additionally, the data analysis using ORIGIN PRO 2018, HistCite, bibliometrix R-package, and VOSviewer. Var1.6.6. A total of 2,137 publications of APJTM. A total of 2,136 documents were retrieved, with received 13956 citations, with an average mean 6.63 citations per article, an h-index of 38. The most frequently occurring keywords in this analysis were Malaria, dengue, apoptosis, antioxidant, rate, invasion and anopheles stephesi and inflammation. The study provided the comprehensive and general overview for APJTM journal over its history from the first issue up-to-date. Moreover, the findings provide an insight into the frequency of citations for top-cited articles published in APJTM as well as the quality of the works, journals, trends of publications steering in APJTM
Mathematical modelling: A retrospective overview
This study aims to comprehensively view the scientific articles
published on mathematical modelling (MM) before 2023. In this
context, analyzed articles published on MM with bibliometric
analysis under four main headings; scientific productivity, network
analysis, conceptual structure, and thematic map. The Web of
Science database was used to analyze 906 articles published by 2039
authors representing 68 countries from 1981 to 2023. According to
the study's findings, the articles published on MM differ yearly, but
the number of citations is constantly increasing. Erbas, A. K.,
Schukajlow, S., and Kaiser, G. are the most productive authors. The
most productive institutions are Purdue, Australian Catholic, and
Hamburg Universities. According to the network analysis, the
journals ZDM Mathematics Education and Educational Studies in
Mathematics come to the fore. It was determined that the best size
reduction obtained in the conceptual analysis constituted
approximately 44% of the total variability. According to the findings
obtained at the end of the research, made some suggestion
Pigment coloration research published in the Science Citation Index Expanded from 1990 to 2020: A systematic review and bibliometric analysis
A systematic review and bibliometric study were undertaken utilizing the Science Citation Index Expanded database from 1990 to 2020 to obtain insights into the trajectory of pigment coloration research. The study focused on the publication performance in terms of the yearly production and citations, as well as mainstream journals, categories of the Web of Sciences, leading nations, well-known institutions, and research trends. The survey found that the yearly output of scholarly publications on pigment coloration research climbed gradually throughout the first quarter of the study period and then increased substantially in the latter five years. The present research emphasis and future trends were examined after summarizing the paper title and abstract analyses, author keyword analysis, and the most regularly used keywords derived from words in KeyWords Plus. To expand its reach in numerous application areas, pigment coloration research will continue to focus on improving pigment qualities
