Specification of high-level application programming interfaces (SemSorGrid4Env)

    No full text
This document defines an Application Tier for the SemsorGrid4Env project. Within the Application Tier we distinguish between Web Applications - which provide a User Interface atop a more traditional Service Oriented Architecture - and Mashups which are driven by a REST API and a Resource Oriented Architecture. A pragmatic boundary is set to enable initial development of Web Applications and Mashups; as the project progresses an evaluation and comparison of the two paradigms may lead to a reassessment of where each can be applied within the project, with the experience gained providing a basis for general guidelines and best practice. Both Web Applications and Mashups are designed and delivered through an iterative user-centric process; requirements generated by the project case studies are a key element of this approach

Reflexive Governance and European Company Law

The use of reflexive forms of regulation is growing within the EU, in particular as the open method of coordination ('OMC') is applied to a growing number of contexts including employment policy, social inclusion, enterprise promotion, environmental protection, energy policy, and fundamental human rights. Company law, however, seems to be an exception to this: recent activity has taken the form of 'hard law' harmonization through directives, coupled with the stimulation of regulatory competition through judgments of the European Court of Justice in relation to freedom of movement, stemming from the Centros case. There is a very limited 'company law OMC' in the form of the deliberations of the European Corporate Governance Forum, but there is little evidence here of what proponents of the OMC call 'learning from diversity'; instead, the Forum appears to envisage the elimination of country-specific practices which it refers to as 'distortions of competition'. This paper argues that the lack of a meaningful company law OMC is likely to prove a more serious long-term obstacle to capital market integration than the persistence of inter-country variations in corporate governance practices. The example of labour law shows how functional convergence and a coordinated raising of standards can be achieved by the dovetailing of the OMC with social policy directives. By contrast, the recent failure of the Takeover Directive to impose a uniform model of takeover regulation indicates the limits of top-down modes of harmonization. At the same time, the case of labour law highlights the importance of placing the OMC within a wider framework of legal support for fundamental rights, of the kind which is capable of providing a countervailing force against court-led deregulation.reflexive governance, company law, labour law, European Union

Learning quality can be improved by utilizing technology and digital media in teaching and learning. Based on a survey conducted in 2021 at 33 elementary schools in Madiun City, most teachers still use WhatsApp Group media in delivering material. However, schools with good technological facilities can better understand technology for teachers and students. This research is downstream from previous research that recommended the development of LMS-based e-learning in elementary schools in Madiun City. The importance of good management in documenting the teaching and learning process can be used as monitoring and evaluation material to improve the quality of learning. Data collection in this study was carried out by direct observation at SDN 01 and SDN 03 Manisrejo Madiun City, as well as surveys conducted at 33 elementary schools in the Madiun City Education Office. The results of this research are internal and external condition analysis, business process analysis, Data, and Information architecture design, application architecture design, technology architecture design, and people architecture design which can be used as Pecel-AE application development framework documents.Learning quality can be improved by utilizing technology and digital media in teaching and learning. Illinois Digital Scholarship: Preserving and Accessing the Digital Past, Present, and Future

Since the University's establishment in 1867, its scholarly output has been issued primarily in print, and the University Library and Archives have been readily able to collect, preserve, and to provide access to that output. Today, technological, economic, political and social forces are buffeting all means of scholarly communication. Scholars, academic institutions and publishers are engaged in debate about the impact of digital scholarship and open access publishing on the promotion and tenure process. The upsurge in digital scholarship affects many aspects of the academic enterprise, including how we record, evaluate, preserve, organize and disseminate scholarly work. The result has left the Library with no ready means by which to archive digitally produced publications, reports, presentations, and learning objects, much of which cannot be adequately represented in print form. In this incredibly fluid environment of digital scholarship, the critical question of how we will collect, preserve, and manage access to this important part of the University scholarly record demands a rational and forward-looking plan - one that includes perspectives from diverse scholarly disciplines, incorporates significant research breakthroughs in information science and computer science, and makes effective projections for future integration within the Library and computing services as a part of the campus infrastructure.Prepared jointly by the University of Illinois Library and CITES at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaig

From e-learning to integrated learning architectures. A novel approach to learning management in corporate and higher education contexts

    Get PDF
E-learning has taken an important role in the work of human resources departments, thus increasing both the importance of, and the demands placed upon, learning management processes and technologies. High-performance learning platforms enable a wide range of functionalities and process choice. In addition, they need interfaces for integration into other corporate IT systems. And finally, corporate learning solutions also need to reach all relevant partners who might participate in learning and information exchange processes. Providing examples from the architecture of the leading European learning management system CLIXďż˝, the article outlines the conceptual, technical, process-related and organizational framework for a successful implementation of viable and sustainable learning solutions in companies, higher education and public organizations.corporate learning, E-learning, learning management, management education, performance management.
