Moreover, there an architectural gap between the provision of network-level Quality of Service (QoS) and user requirements of e-health applications. In this paper, we address the problem bridging this gap from a multi-attribute decision-making perspective in the context of a remote collaborative environment for back pain treatment. We propose intelligent mechanism that integrates user- related requirements with the more technical characterisation Quality of Service. We show how our framework is capable of suggesting appropriately tailored transmission protocols, by incorporating user requirements in the remote delivery e-health solutions

    An Intelligent QoS Identification for Untrustworthy Web Services Via Two-phase Neural Networks

    QoS identification for untrustworthy Web services is critical in QoS management in the service computing since the performance of untrustworthy Web services may result in QoS downgrade. The key issue is to intelligently learn the characteristics of trustworthy Web services from different QoS levels, then to identify the untrustworthy ones according to the characteristics of QoS metrics. As one of the intelligent identification approaches, deep neural network has emerged as a powerful technique in recent years. In this paper, we propose a novel two-phase neural network model to identify the untrustworthy Web services. In the first phase, Web services are collected from the published QoS dataset. Then, we design a feedforward neural network model to build the classifier for Web services with different QoS levels. In the second phase, we employ a probabilistic neural network (PNN) model to identify the untrustworthy Web services from each classification. The experimental results show the proposed approach has 90.5% identification ratio far higher than other competing approaches.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure

    QoS based Web Service Selection and Multi-Criteria Decision Making Methods

    With the continuing proliferation of web services offering similar efficacies, around the globe, it has become a challenge for a user to select the best web service. In literature, this challenge is exhibited as a 0-1 knapsack problem of multiple dimensions and multiple choices, known as an NP-hard problem. Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method is one of the ways which suits this problem and helps the users to select the best service based on his/her preferences. In this regard, this paper assists the researchers in two conducts: Firstly, to witness the performance of different MCDM methods for large number of alternatives and attributes. Secondly, to perceive the possible deviation in the ranking obtained from these methods. For carrying out the experimental evaluation, in this paper, five different well-known MCDM methods have been implemented and compared over two different scenarios of 50 as well as 100 web services, where their ranking is defined on an account of several Quality of Service (QoS) parameters. Additionally, a Spearman’s Rank Correlation Coefficient has been calculated for different pairs of MCDM methods in order to provide a clear depiction of MCDM methods showing the least deviation in their ranking.     Cloud Service Provider Evaluation System using Fuzzy Rough Set Technique

    Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) offer a wide variety of scalable, flexible, and cost-efficient services to cloud users on demand and pay-per-utilization basis. However, vast diversity in available cloud service providers leads to numerous challenges for users to determine and select the best suitable service. Also, sometimes users need to hire the required services from multiple CSPs which introduce difficulties in managing interfaces, accounts, security, supports, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). To circumvent such problems having a Cloud Service Broker (CSB) be aware of service offerings and users Quality of Service (QoS) requirements will benefit both the CSPs as well as users. In this work, we proposed a Fuzzy Rough Set based Cloud Service Brokerage Architecture, which is responsible for ranking and selecting services based on users QoS requirements, and finally monitor the service execution. We have used the fuzzy rough set technique for dimension reduction. Used weighted Euclidean distance to rank the CSPs. To prioritize user QoS request, we intended to use user assign weights, also incorporated system assigned weights to give the relative importance to QoS attributes. We compared the proposed ranking technique with an existing method based on the system response time. The case study experiment results show that the proposed approach is scalable, resilience, and produce better results with less searching time.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures, and 8 table

    Fuzzy Reasoning Approach for Predicting Web Services QoS/QoE with ANFIS

    Nowadays, the web service (WS) usage in information systems (IS) includes determining a feasible WS that fulfils a set of non-functional requirements of Quality of Services (QoS) and user’s needs of Quality of Experience (QoE). While most existing studies evaluate WS from one perspective, i.e., users, and are based on data-driven approach, which employs a numerical dataset to learn a reasoning model, they overlook that users express their needs in a non-numerical form. To address these issues, we propose a new fuzzy reasoning approach for predicting WS QoS/QoE with the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) that encompasses multiple viewpoints and perspectives, and is also suitable for linguistic terms. To verify the efficiency, we implemented the proposed approach, conducted two experiments and compared them. The results show a good performance of the proposed approach for predicting WS QoS/QoE, and, consequently, it can be considered a suitable tool for predicting
