This research established a framework to optimally control and manage an appropriate selection of network slices for incoming requests from diverse applications and services in Beyond 5G networks. The developed DeepSlice model is used to optimize the network and individual slice load efficiency across isolated slices and manage slice lifecycle in case of failure. The DeepSlice framework can predict the unknown connections by utilizing the learning from a developed deep-learning neural network model.
The research also addresses threats to the performance, availability, and robustness of B5G networks by proactively preventing and resolving threats. The study proposed a Secure5G framework for authentication, authorization, trust, and control for a network slicing architecture in 5G systems. The developed model prevents the 5G infrastructure from Distributed Denial of Service by analyzing incoming connections and learning from the developed model. The research demonstrates the preventive measure against volume attacks, flooding attacks, and masking (spoofing) attacks. This research builds the framework towards the zero trust objective (never trust, always verify, and verify continuously) that improves resilience.
Another fundamental difficulty for wireless network systems is providing a desirable user experience in various network conditions, such as those with varying network loads and bandwidth fluctuations. Mobile Network Operators have long battled unforeseen network traffic events. This research proposed ADAPTIVE6G to tackle the network load estimation problem using knowledge-inspired Transfer Learning by utilizing radio network Key Performance Indicators from network slices to understand and learn network load estimation problems. These algorithms enable Mobile Network Operators to optimally coordinate their computational tasks in stochastic and time-varying network states.
Energy efficiency is another significant KPI in tracking the sustainability of network slicing. Increasing traffic demands in 5G dramatically increase the energy consumption of mobile networks. This increase is unsustainable in terms of dollar cost and environmental impact. This research proposed an innovative ECO6G model to attain sustainability and energy efficiency. Research findings suggested that the developed model can reduce network energy costs without negatively impacting performance or end customer experience against the classical Machine Learning and Statistical driven models. The proposed model is validated against the industry-standardized energy efficiency definition, and operational expenditure savings are derived, showing significant cost savings to MNOs.Introduction -- A deep neural network framework towards a resilient, efficient, and secure network slicing in Beyond 5G Networks -- Adaptive resource management techniques for network slicing in Beyond 5G networks using transfer learning -- Energy and cost analysis for network slicing deployment in Beyond 5G networks -- Conclusion and future scop

Contextually and identity aware 5G services
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University LondonThe fifth generation (5G) mobile networks aim to be ten times faster than the existing 4G connection, whilst providing low latency, and flexibility. Hence, various alterations are planned to the existing network infrastructure to be able to reach the 5G expected performance levels. The main technologies that were used, to ensure high performance, flexible network, and efficient resource allocation, are Software Defined Network and Network Function Virtualization. As these technologies are replacing the device-based architecture with, a service-based architecture.
This thesis provides a design of location database interactive web interface and interactive mobile application. The implementation of real time video streaming location server, the streaming system's performance parameters demonstrated a high level of QoS (0.07ms jitter and 9.53ms delay). In regard to experimental examination, it measured the localisation coverage, accuracy measurements and a highly scalable security solution. The localisation coverage and accuracy measurements were achieved through the mmWave and VLC link transmitters. The proposed simulated annealing algorithm aimed at data optimisation for location measurements accuracy showed results of the average location error of x and y which showed significant improvement from x= 22.5 and y=21.6 to x=11.09 and y= 11.63.
The proposed indoor location security solution showed significant results, as it provides a high scalability solution using the VNF. The solution showed that it was not 100% effective, as some of the fake discover packets still reached the DHCP server. This was due to the high load of traffic passing through the network. Nonetheless, 90% of the fake DHCP discover packets never reached the DHCP server because the scripts began blocking all fake discover packets after realising it was an attack. This conveys that the proposed system was able to run successfully without crashing or overloading the controller.
Overall, the main challenges facing 5G have been addressed with their proposed solutions, which showed promising results. Conclusively showing that there is a lot more space for technological advancements to support the future of mobile networks.European Union’s Horizon 2020 research program - the Internet of Radio-Light (IoRL) project H2020-ICT 761992
LATEST ADVANCES ON SECURITY ARCHITECTURE FOR 5G TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICES
The roll out of the deployment of the 5G technology has been ongoing globally. The
deployment of the technologies associated with 5G has seen mixed reaction as regards its
prospects to improve communication services in all spares of life amid its security concerns. The
security concerns of 5G network lies in its architecture and other technologies that optimize the
performance of its architecture. There are many fractions of 5G security architecture in the
literature, a holistic security architectural structure will go a long way in tackling the security
challenges. In this paper, the review of the security challenges of the 5G technology based on its
architecture is presented along with their proposed solutions. This review was carried out with
some keywords relating to 5G securities and architecture; this was used to retrieve appropriate
literature for fitness of purpose. The 5G security architectures are mojorly centered around the
seven network security layers; thereby making each of the layers a source of security concern on
the 5G network. Many of the 5G security challenges are related to authentication and authorization
such as denial-of-service attacks, man in the middle attack and eavesdropping. Different methods
both hardware (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, field programmable logic arrays) and software (Artificial
intelligence, Machine learning, Blockchain, Statistical Process Control) has been proposed for
mitigating the threats. Other technologies applicable to 5G security concerns includes: Multi-radio
access technology, smart-grid network and light fidelity. The implementation of these solutions
should be reviewed on a timely basis because of the dynamic nature of threats which will greatly
reduce the occurrence of security attacks on the 5G network
A Comprehensive Review on Adaptability of Network Forensics Frameworks for Mobile Cloud Computing
Network forensics enables investigation and identification of network attacks through the retrieved digital content. The proliferation of smartphones and the cost-effective universal data access through cloud has made Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) a congenital target for network attacks. However, confines in carrying out forensics in MCC is interrelated with the autonomous cloud hosting companies and their policies for restricted access to the digital content in the back-end cloud platforms. It implies that existing Network Forensic Frameworks (NFFs) have limited impact in the MCC paradigm. To this end, we qualitatively analyze the adaptability of existing NFFs when applied to the MCC. Explicitly, the fundamental mechanisms of NFFs are highlighted and then analyzed using the most relevant parameters. A classification is proposed to help understand the anatomy of existing NFFs. Subsequently, a comparison is given that explores the functional similarities and deviations among NFFs. The paper concludes by discussing research challenges for progressive network forensics in MCC
A Survey of Protocol-Level Challenges and Solutions for Distributed Energy Resource Cyber-Physical Security
The increasing proliferation of distributed energy resources (DERs) on the smart grid has made distributed solar and wind two key contributors to the expanding attack surface of the network; however, there is a lack of proper understanding and enforcement of DER communications security requirements. With vendors employing proprietary methods to mitigate hosts of attacks, the literature currently lacks a clear organization of the protocol-level vulnerabilities, attacks, and solutions mapped to each layer of the logical model such as the OSI stack. To bridge this gap and pave the way for future research by the authors in determining key DER security requirements, this paper conducts a comprehensive review of the key vulnerabilities, attacks, and potential solutions for solar and wind DERs at the protocol level. In doing so, this paper serves as a starting point for utilities, vendors, aggregators, and other industry stakeholders to develop a clear understanding of the DER security challenges and solutions, which are key precursors to comprehending security requirements
