Cross-layer Balanced and Reliable Opportunistic Routing Algorithm for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
For improving the efficiency and the reliability of the opportunistic routing
algorithm, in this paper, we propose the cross-layer and reliable opportunistic
routing algorithm (CBRT) for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, which introduces the
improved efficiency fuzzy logic and humoral regulation inspired topology
control into the opportunistic routing algorithm. In CBRT, the inputs of the
fuzzy logic system are the relative variance (rv) of the metrics rather than
the values of the metrics, which reduces the number of fuzzy rules
dramatically. Moreover, the number of fuzzy rules does not increase when the
number of inputs increases. For reducing the control cost, in CBRT, the node
degree in the candidate relays set is a range rather than a constant number.
The nodes are divided into different categories based on their node degree in
the candidate relays set. The nodes adjust their transmission range based on
which categories that they belong to. Additionally, for investigating the
effection of the node mobility on routing performance, we propose a link
lifetime prediction algorithm which takes both the moving speed and moving
direction into account. In CBRT, the source node determines the relaying
priorities of the relaying nodes based on their utilities. The relaying node
which the utility is large will have high priority to relay the data packet. By
these innovations, the network performance in CBRT is much better than that in

Real scenario and simulations on GLOSA traffic light system for reduced CO2 emissions, waiting time and travel time
Cooperative ITS is enabling vehicles to communicate with the infrastructure
to provide improvements in traffic control. A promising approach consists in
anticipating the road profile and the upcoming dynamic events like traffic
lights. This topic has been addressed in the French public project Co-Drive
through functions developed by Valeo named Green Light Optimal Speed Advisor
(GLOSA). The system advises the optimal speed to pass the next traffic light
without stopping. This paper presents results of its performance in different
scenarios through simulations and real driving measurements. A scaling is done
in an urban area, with different penetration rates in vehicle and
infrastructure equipment for vehicular communication. Our simulation results
indicate that GLOSA can reduce CO2 emissions, waiting time and travel time,

Dynamic distributed clustering in wireless sensor networks via Voronoi tessellation control
This paper presents two dynamic and distributed clustering algorithms for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Clustering approaches are used in WSNs to improve the network lifetime and scalability by balancing the workload among the clusters. Each cluster is managed by a cluster head (CH) node. The first algorithm requires the CH nodes to be mobile: by dynamically varying the CH node positions, the algorithm is proved to converge to a specific partition of the mission area, the generalised Voronoi tessellation, in which the loads of the CH nodes are balanced. Conversely, if the CH nodes are fixed, a weighted Voronoi clustering approach is proposed with the same load-balancing objective: a reinforcement learning approach is used to dynamically vary the mission space partition by controlling the weights of the Voronoi regions. Fuzzy Depth Based Routing Protocol for Underwater Acoustic Wireless Sensor Networks
Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks consist of a variable number of sensors and vehicles that are implemented to perform collaborative monitoring tasks over a given area. However, designing energy-efficient routing protocols for this type of networks is essential and challenging because the sensor nodes is powered by batteries, underwater environment is harsh and propagation delay is long. Most of the existing routing protocols used for underwater wireless sensor networks, such as depth based routing (DBR) protocol use a greedy approach to deliver data packets to the destination sink nodes at the water surface. Further, DBR does not require full-dimensional location information of sensor nodes. Instead, it needs only local depth information, which can be easily obtained with an inexpensive depth sensor that can be equipped in every underwater sensor node. DBR uses smaller depth as the only metric for choosing a route. This decision might lead to high energy consumption and long end to end delay which will degrade network performance. This paper proposes an improvement of DBR protocol by making routing decisions depend on fuzzy cost based on the residual energy of receiver node in conjunction with the depth difference of receiver node and previous forwarder node and the number of hops traveled by the received packet. Our simulation was carried out in Aquasim an NS2 based underwater simulator and the evaluation results show that the proposed fuzzy multi metric DBR protocol (FDBR) performs better than the original DBR in terms of average end to end delay, packet delivery ratio and energy savin
Adaptive probability scheme for behaviour monitoring of the elderly using a specialised ambient device
A Hidden Markov Model (HMM) modified to work in combination with a Fuzzy System is utilised to determine the current behavioural state of the user from information obtained with specialised hardware. Due to the high dimensionality and not-linearly-separable nature of the Fuzzy System and the sensor data obtained with the hardware which informs the state decision, a new method is devised to update the HMM and replace the initial Fuzzy System such that subsequent state decisions are based on the most recent information. The resultant system first reduces the dimensionality of the original information by using a manifold representation in the high dimension which is unfolded in the lower dimension. The data is then linearly separable in the lower dimension where a simple linear classifier, such as the perceptron used here, is applied to determine the probability of the observations belonging to a state. Experiments using the new system verify its applicability in a real scenario
PRIORITY BASED TRAFFIC LIGHTS CONTROLLER USING WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS
Vehicular traffic is continuously increasing around the world, especially in large urban areas. The resulting congestion has become a major concern to transportation specialists and decision makers. The existing methods for traffic management, surveillance and control are not adequately efficient in terms of performance, cost, maintenance, and support. In this paper, the design of a system that utilizes and efficiently manages traffic light controllers is presented. In particular, we present an adaptive traffic control system based on a new traffic infrastructure using Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). These techniques are dynamically adaptive to traffic conditions on both single and multiple intersections. An intelligent traffic light controller system with a new method of vehicle detection and dynamic traffic signal time manipulation is used in the project. The project is also designed to control traffic over multiple intersections and follows international standards for traffic light operations. A central monitoring station is designed to monitor all access nodes.
Effect of fuzzy PID controller on feedback control systems based on wireless sensor network
Wireless Networked control system (WNCS) has an important in all aspects of the life and in the research fields of Engineering. In this article, a real-time implementation of the wireless feedback control system (WFCS) is performed. The stability issue in the closed-loop control system still suffer from noise, disturbances, and need careful considerations to handle it. Three cases to discover the ability of a Fuzzy PID controller to maintain better angular position control system (PCS) is addressed and controlled by a personal computer through a wireless sensor network(WSN) constructed by ZigBee platforms. The practical issues related with the design and implementation of the wireless computerized control system (WCCS) is discussed and analyzed. The simulation results carried out with Matlab/Simulink 2018b. Different parameters effect such as maximum overshoot, sampling frequency, distance and delay time have been studied. These effects on overall system performance would be discussed. Improving the efficient use of ZigBee platform for WFCS.
