Brokering SLAs for end-to-end QoS in cloud computing
In this paper, we present a brokering logic for providing precise end-to-end QoS levels to cloud applications distributed across a number of different business actors, such as network service providers (NSP) and cloud providers (CSP). The broker composes a number of available offerings from each provider, in a way that respects the QoS application constraints while minimizing costs incurred by cloud consumers. An interoperable and self-adaptive approach for SLA-based service virtualization in heterogeneous Cloud environments
Cloud computing is a newly emerged computing infrastructure that builds on the latest achievements of diverse research areas, such as Grid computing, Service-oriented computing, business process management and virtualization. An important characteristic of Cloud-based services is the provision of non-functional guarantees in the form of Service Level Agreements (SLAs), such as guarantees on execution time or price. However, due to system malfunctions, changing workload conditions, hard- and software failures, established SLAs can be violated. In order to avoid costly SLA violations, flexible and adaptive SLA attainment strategies are needed. In this paper we present a self-manageable architecture for SLA-based service virtualization that provides a way to ease interoperable service executions in a diverse, heterogeneous, distributed and virtualized world of services. We demonstrate in this paper that the combination of negotiation, brokering and deployment using SLA-aware extensions and autonomic computing principles are required for achieving reliable and efficient service operation in distributed environments. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. CYCLONE Unified Deployment and Management of Federated, Multi-Cloud Applications
Various Cloud layers have to work in concert in order to manage and deploy
complex multi-cloud applications, executing sophisticated workflows for Cloud
resource deployment, activation, adjustment, interaction, and monitoring. While
there are ample solutions for managing individual Cloud aspects (e.g. network
controllers, deployment tools, and application security software), there are no
well-integrated suites for managing an entire multi cloud environment with
multiple providers and deployment models. This paper presents the CYCLONE
architecture that integrates a number of existing solutions to create an open,
unified, holistic Cloud management platform for multi-cloud applications,
tailored to the needs of research organizations and SMEs. It discusses major
challenges in providing a network and security infrastructure for the
Intercloud and concludes with the demonstration how the architecture is
implemented in a real life bioinformatics use case
Cloudbus Toolkit for Market-Oriented Cloud Computing
This keynote paper: (1) presents the 21st century vision of computing and
identifies various IT paradigms promising to deliver computing as a utility;
(2) defines the architecture for creating market-oriented Clouds and computing
atmosphere by leveraging technologies such as virtual machines; (3) provides
thoughts on market-based resource management strategies that encompass both
customer-driven service management and computational risk management to sustain
SLA-oriented resource allocation; (4) presents the work carried out as part of
our new Cloud Computing initiative, called Cloudbus: (i) Aneka, a Platform as a
Service software system containing SDK (Software Development Kit) for
construction of Cloud applications and deployment on private or public Clouds,
in addition to supporting market-oriented resource management; (ii)
internetworking of Clouds for dynamic creation of federated computing
environments for scaling of elastic applications; (iii) creation of 3rd party
Cloud brokering services for building content delivery networks and e-Science
applications and their deployment on capabilities of IaaS providers such as
Amazon along with Grid mashups; (iv) CloudSim supporting modelling and
simulation of Clouds for performance studies; (v) Energy Efficient Resource
Allocation Mechanisms and Techniques for creation and management of Green
