G 207-9 and LP 133-144: light curve analysis and asteroseismology of two ZZ Ceti stars
G 207-9 and LP 133-144 are two rarely observed ZZ Ceti stars located in the
middle and close to the blue edge of the ZZ Ceti instability domain,
respectively. We aimed to observe them at least during one observing season at
Konkoly Observatory with the purpose of extending the list of known pulsation
modes for asteroseismic investigations and detect any significant changes in
their pulsational behaviour. We determined five and three new normal modes of G
207-9 and LP 133-144, respectively. In LP 133-144, our frequency analysis also
revealed that at least at three modes there are actually triplets with
frequency separations of ~4 microHz. The rotational period of LP 133-144 based
on the triplets is ~42 h. The preliminary asteroseismic fits of G 207-9 predict
Teff=12 000 or 12 400 K and M*=0.855-0.870 MSun values for the effective
temperature and mass of the star, depending on the assumptions on the spherical
degree (l) values of the modes. These results are in agreement with the
spectroscopic determinations. In the case of LP 133-144, the best-fitting
models prefer Teff=11 800 K in effective temperature and M*>=0.71 MSun stellar
masses, which are more than 0.1 MSun larger than the spectroscopic value.Comment: 12 pages, 11 figures, accepted for publication in Monthly Notices of

Influence of gaseous laser in continuous-wave and pulse regimes on biomaterial characteristics
Aromatic plants and laser beam wavelength in the red range of visible spectra (623.8 nm), most commonly used for treating plant species, were selected. As there is not much information in the references, it is necessary to set a scale with qualitative and partially quantitative evaluations of the results. Specimens of thyme seed (Thymus vulgaris) were selected as aromatic plants for studying the effect of low-power lasers on plant development, and continuous He-Ne laser, with irradiation times in the range of minutes
Entropies and Heat Capacities of Gaseous Selenium Molecules Sen (n = 5 ... 12)
Thermodynamic functions are calculated for gaseous Se8 molecules from spectroscopic and structural data and listed for temperatures up to 3000 K. Entropy (S°) and heat capacity (Cp0) data for Sen molecules (n = 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12) are obtained from linear relationships between both S0 and Cp0 and ring size n which are derived from the corresponding values of Se2 and Se8
The cost of inflammatory bowel disease management matches with clinical course: A single outpatient centre analysis
Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) have a large economic burden on health systems. Our single-centre observational retrospective study aimed to assess an economic evaluation in two IBD outpatient cohorts (biological and conventional therapy) in relation to disease activity within a three-year follow-up. Four hundred and seventeen consecutive IBD patients referred to our tertiary gastroenterology unit (Bari-Puglia-Southern Italy) on January 2014–December 2016 were included. For each group (conventional/biological), we assessed direct/indirect costs and clinical/endoscopic activity within the first year and along the three-year follow-up. Statistical analyses: Wilcoxon signed-rank test (continuous variables), chi-square and Fisher’s test (categorical variables), Spearman ranks (single outcome) and ANOVA (detection time, clinical/endoscopic scores) were used. Continuous variables were expressed as mean ± standard deviation and range and/or median, interquartile range and range; categorical variables were expressed as proportions with 95% confidence interval. Direct and indirect cost items of 2014 and 2014–2016 were higher in patients treated with biological than conventional therapy. Subjects on biological therapy were younger and showed clinical and endoscopic moderate-to-severe disease activity. After three years, they reached a significant improvement from baseline. Conversely, disease activity was mild when conventional treatment had a beneficial effect. In conclusion, overall IBD management cost matches with clinical course and needs long-term evaluation in critical patients
Анализ напряженно-деформированного состояния проблемных мест шахтного ствола рудника на основе компьютерного моделирования
The article presents the computer simulation results for the stress-strain state of the lining sections of the shaft No. 1 of mine 3 of JSC Belaruskali that were obtained using visual and instrumental investigation of the mine lining state. The loading parameters of the shaft take into account the specific feature of the lateral pressure calculation in the considered location. This means that the shaft intersects vertically rocks different in their physical and mechanical properties. Computer simulation of loading of the most problematic vertical mine shaft sections observed by the lining examination results was performed using the Static Structural component of the ANSYS Workbench engineering software package. Distribution diagrams of longitudinal normal, shear and von Mises equivalent stresses in the vertical mine shaft lining are obtained for the design and residual values of the cast-iron tubing thickness. A comparative analysis of the mine shaft residual bearing capacity for various parameters of the lining elements was carried out. Based on the computer simulation results, the conclusions were made on the bearing capacity of the shaft No. 1 of mine 3 of JSC Belaruskali and the recommendations for a further safe operation of the mine shaft were suggested.
Development of My Footprint Calculator
The Environmental footprint is a very powerful tool that helps an individual to understand how their everyday activities are impacting environmental surroundings. Data shows that global climate change, which is a growing concern for nations all over the world, is already affecting humankind, plants and animals through raising ocean levels, droughts & desertification and changing weather patterns. In addition to a wide range of policy measures implemented by national and state governments, it is necessary for individuals to understand the impact that their lifestyle may have on their personal environmental footprint, and thus over the global climate change. “My Footprint Calculator” (myfootprintcalculator.com) has been designed to be one the simplest, yet comprehensive, web tools to help individuals calculate and understand their personal environmental impact.
“My Footprint Calculator” is a website that queries users about their everyday habits and activities and calculates their personal impact on the environment. This website was re-designed to help users determine their environmental impact in various aspects of their lives ranging from transportation and recycling habits to water and energy usage with the addition of new features that will allow users to share their experiences and their best practices with other users interested in reducing their personal Environmental footprint. The collected data is stored in the database and a future goal of this work plans to analyze the collected data from all users (anonymously) for developing relevant trends and statistics
