New result on the measurement of the direct photon emission in K+ --> pi^+ pi^0 gamma decay

We present a new result on the K^+ --> pi^+ pi^0 gamma decay measurement using stopped kaons. The best fit to the decay spectrum comprised of 10k events gives a branching ratio for the direct photon emission of [3.8+-0.8(stat)+-0.7(syst)] times 10^{-6} in the pi^+ kinetic energy region of 55 to 90 MeV. This result has been obtained with the assumption that there is no component due to interference with the inner bremsstrahlung.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures, 3 tables (Fig.1 which had problems with uploading first time is replaced. Do we understand the single-spin asymmetry for pi0pi^0 inclusive production in pp collisions?

The cross section data for π0\pi^0 inclusive production in pppp collisions is considered in a rather broad kinematic region in energy s\sqrt{s}, Feynman variable xFx_F and transverse momentum pTp_T. The analysis of these data is done in the perturbative QCD framework at the next-to-leading order. We find that they cannot be correctly described in the entire kinematic domain and this leads us to conclude that the single-spin asymmetry, ANA_N for this process, observed several years ago at FNAL by the experiment E704 and the recent result obtained at BNL-RHIC by STAR, are two different phenomena. This suggests that STAR data probes a genuine leading-twist QCD single-spin asymmetry for the first time and finds a large effect.Comment: text modified, version to be published in Eur. Phys. J. ANALISIS PESAN PADA FILM “DUA GARIS BIRU”

    Get PDF
"Dua Garis Biru" is a romantic drama film directed by Ginatri S. Noer, which was released in Indonesian cinemas in 2019. It tells the story of a high school couple who engage in premarital sex and face an unintended pregnancy, highlighting the importance of parental involvement and the surrounding environment in the development of their child. The film portrays a common phenomenon in Indonesia, namely early marriage and teenage pregnancy. "Dua Garis Biru" received 11 awards in 2019 and 2020, including the Piala Maya for Best Feature Film or Selected Cinema Film. This research aims to analyze the moral messages regarding early marriage present in "Dua Garis Biru." The study will observe the explicit and implicit moral messages conveyed by the film, focusing on the concepts of moral messages by Nurgiyantoro and utilizing Gillian Rose's visual analysis from three research areas: the site of self, the site of audience, and the site of production. The research methodology employed is qualitative. The findings of the study indicate that "Dua Garis Biru" contains moral messages regarding the relationship between humans and God, the relationship between humans and themselves, and the relationship between humans and others

Modeling the Pion and Kaon Form Factors in the Timelike Region

New, accurate measurements of the pion and kaon electromagnetic form factors are expected in the near future from experiments at electron-positron colliders, using the radiative return method. We construct a model for the timelike pion electromagnetic form factor, that is valid also at momentum transfers far above the ρ\rho resonance. The ansatz is based on vector dominance and includes a pattern of radial excitations expected from dual resonance models. The form factor is fitted to the existing data in the timelike region, continued to the spacelike region and compared with the measurements there and with the QCD predictions. Furthermore, the model is extended to the kaon electromagnetic form factor. Using isospin and SU(3)-flavour symmetry relations we extract the isospin-one contribution and predict the kaon weak form factor accessible in semileptonic τ\tau decays.Comment: 31 pages, 7 figures, latex, one reference changed, version to appear in Eur.Phys.J

    Auto-Oscillation of Cavitating Inducers

This paper presents details of measurements on the instability know as auto-oscillation which occurs in systems with cavitating pumps. Specific measurements are made of onset cavitation number and auto-osciallation frequency for a range of inducers. It has been shown that auto-oscillation is a system instability caused by the active dynamic characteristics of the cavitating pump. A system anslysis is presented which utilized previously measured dynamic transfer functions for the inducers; the resulting predictions of instability are consistent with the observations. Though the onset cavitation number is a function of the entire system it is also show that, given the onset cavitation number, the auto-oscillation frequency is only weakly dependent on the system and primarily a function of the pump dynamics. Detailed measurements of the amplitude and phase of fluctuating pressures and flow rates during auto-oscillation are also presented. These strongly suggest that the pump dynamics are primarily determined by the complicated flow at inlet to the inducer which involves pre-swirl generated by a strong backflow. Some data on the non-linear effect of auto-osciallation on overall mean performance are also presented

A commentary on standardization in the Semantic Web, Common Logic and MultiAgent Systems

    Get PDF
Given the ubiquity of the Web, the Semantic Web (SW) offers MultiAgent Systems (MAS) a most wide-ranging platform by which they could intercommunicate. It can be argued however that MAS require levels of logic that the current Semantic Web has yet to provide. As ISO Common Logic (CL) ISO/IEC IS 24707:2007 provides a firstorder logic capability for MAS in an interoperable way, it seems natural to investigate how CL may itself integrate with the SW thus providing a more expressive means by which MAS can interoperate effectively across the SW. A commentary is accordingly presented on how this may be achieved. Whilst it notes that certain limitations remain to be addressed, the commentary proposes that standardising the SW with CL provides the vehicle by which MAS can achieve their potential.</p

Two-photon laser scanning fluorescence microscopy using photonic crystal fibre

    Get PDF
We report the application of a simple yet powerful modular pulse compression system, based on photonic crystal fibres which improves upon incumbent twophoton laser scanning fluorescence microscopy techniques. This system provided more than a 7-fold increase in fluorescence yield when compared with a commercial two-photon microscopy system. From this, we infer pulses of infrared radiaton of less than 35 fs duration reaching the sample

Credibly Committing to Property Rights: The Roles of Precedent and the Constitution.

    Get PDF
In cross-national studies, scholars typically ignore the moderating effect of credibility on the relationship between property rights protection and economic growth. However, both theory and case evidence suggest that credibility is necessary for this relationship to exist. Using panel data spanning more than 100 countries from 1985-2005, this paper investigates if two credibility mechanisms - precedent and the constitution - moderate the relationship between property rights protection and economic growth. The findings suggest that a credible commitment to property rights protection is a necessary condition for such protection to enhance economic performance. The implications of these findings are twofold: 1) property rights reforms are unlikely to be successful in countries that cannot credibly commit to those reforms, and 2) unsuccessful property rights reforms at present may reduce the likelihood that future reforms will be successful
