THE USE OF SONGS TO INCREASE ENGLISH VOCABULARY TO THE FIRST GRADE STUDENTS OF SDN TUGU JEBRES NO.120 SURAKARTA
This report is written based on the job training activities done by the writer
as an English Teacher in SDN Tugu Jebres No.120 Surakarta. The purpose of this
report is to describe the use of songs to improve English vocabulary to the first
grade student.
Using songs can be good alternation to teach English to young learners
because children like songs. In many cultures, songs are used to introduce or
practice mother tongue to young children. By implementing the songs, the
students are easier in understanding the meaning of the words and memorizing the
vocabulary. It happened because first, songs are consisted of special rhythm that
stimulates the brain to catch the lyrics. Second, there are many word repetitions in
songs that is very helpful for young learners to memorize the new vocabulary.
Third, singing is a happy and stress-free activity that brings different atmosphere
in theclassroom so that the students feel more interested in learning English
vocabulary.
Songs are a motivating and enjoyable aid to learn language. Singing many
English songs could add the students’ vocabularies. As the result, the scores of
English is increasing well. Songs increase English vocabulary students
Impact of California's Transitional Kindergarten Program, 2013-14
Transitional kindergarten (TK)—the first year of a two-year kindergarten program for California children who turn 5 between September 2 and December 2—is intended to better prepare young five-year-olds for kindergarten and ensure a strong start to their educational career. To determine whether this goal is being achieved, American Institutes for Research (AIR) is conducting an evaluation of the impact of TK in California. The goal of this study is to measure the success of the program by determining the impact of TK on students' readiness for kindergarten in several areas. Using a rigorous regression discontinuity (RD) research design,1 we compared language, literacy, mathematics, executive function, and social-emotional skills at kindergarten entry for students who attended TK and for students who did not attend TK. Overall, we found that TK had a positive impact on students' kindergarten readiness in several domains, controlling for students' age differences. These effects are over and above the experiences children in the comparison group had the year before kindergarten, which for more than 80 percent was some type of preschool program

PROCESS OF TEACHING VOCABULARY TO THE FIRST GRADE STUDENTS IN SD NEGERI KARTASURA 02
This final project was written based on the job training in SD Negeri
Kartasura 02. The aims of this final project are to describe the process of teaching
vocabulary to the first grade students in SD Negeri Kartasura 02, to show the
problems faced by the students and the writer and also to give the solutions for the
problems.
The writer wrote this final project based on the data collected by observing
the class and teaching the first grade students in SD Negeri Kartasura 02. The
observation was done in the class to know how the class condition and how the
teachers teaches. The process of teaching consists of motivating strategies,
presentation strategies, skill practice, assessment and ending the lessons. The
material of teaching English vocabulary is taken from Active English 1 for Grade
I of Elementary School.
Based on the discussion, the writer found the problems during the process
of teaching vocabulary to the first grade students in SD Negeri Kartasura 02. The
problem were the condition of the students and students’ problem in writing
English. The writer also gave the solution to solve the problems namely trying to
make the class more relax and enjoyable, trying to explain not in rush, teaching
the vocabulary by reading in order to introduce the words and the letters to the
students, asking the students to make notes in their notebook, using some pictures
to make the students more easier to remember the letters of the words
Evaluation of exercises designed to increase the children's use of descriptive words in written expression

A Convolutional Encoder Model for Neural Machine Translation
The prevalent approach to neural machine translation relies on bi-directional
LSTMs to encode the source sentence. In this paper we present a faster and
simpler architecture based on a succession of convolutional layers. This allows
to encode the entire source sentence simultaneously compared to recurrent
networks for which computation is constrained by temporal dependencies. On
WMT'16 English-Romanian translation we achieve competitive accuracy to the
state-of-the-art and we outperform several recently published results on the
WMT'15 English-German task. Our models obtain almost the same accuracy as a
very deep LSTM setup on WMT'14 English-French translation. Our convolutional
encoder speeds up CPU decoding by more than two times at the same or higher
accuracy as a strong bi-directional LSTM baseline.Comment: 13 page
