Resource allocation for transmit hybrid beamforming in decoupled millimeter wave multiuser-MIMO downlink
This paper presents a study on joint radio resource allocation and hybrid precoding in multicarrier massive multiple-input multiple-output communications for 5G cellular networks. In this paper, we present the resource allocation algorithm to maximize the proportional fairness (PF) spectral efficiency under the per subchannel power and the beamforming rank constraints. Two heuristic algorithms are designed. The proportional fairness hybrid beamforming algorithm provides the transmit precoder with a proportional fair spectral efficiency among users for the desired number of radio-frequency (RF) chains. Then, we transform the number of RF chains or rank constrained optimization problem into convex semidefinite programming (SDP) problem, which can be solved by standard techniques. Inspired by the formulated convex SDP problem, a low-complexity, two-step, PF-relaxed optimization algorithm has been provided for the formulated convex optimization problem. Simulation results show that the proposed suboptimal solution to the relaxed optimization problem is near-optimal for the signal-to-noise ratio SNR <= 10 dB and has a performance gap not greater than 2.33 b/s/Hz within the SNR range 0-25 dB. It also outperforms the maximum throughput and PF-based hybrid beamforming schemes for sum spectral efficiency, individual spectral efficiency, and fairness index
Reconsidering Linear Transmit Signal Processing in 1-Bit Quantized Multi-User MISO Systems
In this contribution, we investigate a coarsely quantized Multi-User
(MU)-Multiple Input Single Output (MISO) downlink communication system, where
we assume 1-Bit Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) at the Base Station (BS)
antennas. First, we analyze the achievable sum rate lower-bound using the
Bussgang decomposition. In the presence of the non-linear quanization, our
analysis indicates the potential merit of reconsidering traditional signal
processing techniques in coarsely quantized systems, i.e., reconsidering
transmit covariance matrices whose rank is equal to the rank of the channel.
Furthermore, in the second part of this paper, we propose a linear precoder
design which achieves the predicted increase in performance compared with a
state of the art linear precoder design. Moreover, our linear signal processing
algorithm allows for higher-order modulation schemes to be employed

Surround by Sound: A Review of Spatial Audio Recording and Reproduction
In this article, a systematic overview of various recording and reproduction techniques for spatial audio is presented. While binaural recording and rendering is designed to resemble the human two-ear auditory system and reproduce sounds specifically for a listener’s two ears, soundfield recording and reproduction using a large number of microphones and loudspeakers replicate an acoustic scene within a region. These two fundamentally different types of techniques are discussed in the paper. A recent popular area, multi-zone reproduction, is also briefly reviewed in the paper. The paper is concluded with a discussion of the current state of the field and open problemsThe authors acknowledge National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) No.
