International audienceOur contribution is devoted to a constructive overview over the implicit system approach in modern control of switched dynamic models. We study a class of non-stationary autonomous switched systems and formally establish the existence of solution. We next incorporate the implicit systems approach into our consideration. At the beginning of the contribution we also develop a specific system example that is used for illustrations of various system aspects that we consider. Our research involves among others a deep examination of the reachability property in the framework of the implicit system framework that we propose. Based on this methodology we finally propose a resulting robust control design for the switched systems under consideration and the proposed control strategy is implemented in the context of the illustrative example

Chronicling the Complexification of Negotiation Theory and Practice

The essay reviews the content of twenty-five years of the Harvard Program on Negotiation\u27s Negotiation Journal, identifying themes and issues explored on its pages in the past, the current issues challenging the field’s scholars and practitioners, and the issues likely to confront us in the future. It argues that while we in the field hoped for simple, elegant, and universal theories of negotiation and conflict resolution, the last twenty-five years have demonstrated the increasing complexification of negotiation theory and practice, from increased numbers of parties and issues, and dilemmas of intertemporal commitments, ethics, accountability, and relationships of private action to public responsibility

Measurement and Dimensionality of Compensation Satisfaction in Law Enforcement

This research examined the dimensionality of carpensation satisfaction for the occupational area of law enforcanent by analyzing the factor structure of Henanan and SChwab\u27s (1985) Pay Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ) . The PSQ is intended to measure four facets of compensation satisfaction: 1) pay level, 2) benefits, 3) pay raises, and 4) pay structure-administration. Previous research showed support for the PSQ level and benefits scales, but yielded equivocal results for the raises and structure-administration scales. Previous research also showed that the factor structure of the PSQ varied by job classification group. The present study, using data fran 1189 unifomed law enforcanent officers anployed by eight different state police or highway patrol organizations, found that a three-factor solution (level, benefits, and structure-administration) represents the appropriate dimensional structure for compensation satisfaction in the occupational area of law enforcanent, at least within the danain of the 18 itans of the PSQ. These findings are integrated with those of previous research, and implications for research and practice are discussed

Testing Models of Counselor Development With a Measure of Counseling Self-Efficacy

Models of counselor development have become very popular, but empirical research has found differences primarily between beginning graduate students and doctoral interns, in the research described here, a counseling self-efficacy instrument was developed and was used to test hypotheses based on self-efficacy theory and models of counselor development, both of which would make similar predictions about increases in counseling self-efficacy resulting from clinical training and experience. The findings include strong reliability and validity evidence for the instrument and several significantly different groups of participants that correspond roughly to the groups hypothesized in stage models of counselor development

Assessing the status of widely distributed marine species can prove difficult because virtually every sampling technique has assumptions, limitations, and biases that affect the results of the study.
