A collection of the professional and personal papers of a historian and educator from Indiana who taught at the elementary, secondary, and college levels before his retirement from the Kansas State Teacher College (now Pittsburg State University) in Pittsburg, Kansas. The collection is arranged in six series: Biographical; Correspondence; Kansas State Teachers College; Writings; Miscellaneous; and Family. Profile: Dr Adewumi Damilola Adebayo

Damilola Adebayo is a historian on the rise. With a recent PhD from Cambridge, he began his scholarly journey at the University of Ibadan, followed by an MA in Geneva. And with an interest in histories of infrastructure, he stakes his place on the frontiers not only of African history but other historiographies too. Coming out of the directions championed by the African Economic History Network (AEHN), his doctoral thesis was titled “A socioeconomic History of Electricity in Southern Nigeria, 1898-1972”

Revision der europäischen Arten (Puppen und Imagines) der Gattung Eukiefferiella Thienemann (Diptera: Chironomidae).

In vorliegender Arbeit wird eine Revision der europäischen Arten (Puppen-Männchen und Imagines-Männchen) der Gattung Eukiefferiella Thienemann vorgenommen. 26 gültige Spezies wurden für Europa festgestellt. Für die Puppen und Imagines wird jeweils eine Gattungsdiagnose und eine Bestimmungstabelle gegeben. Danach werden die Arten in taxonomischer und ökologischer Hinsicht kurz abgehandelt. Die interspezifischen Verwandschaftsverhältnisse der Gattung werden diskutiert. Die Arbeit enthält Figuren zu sämtlichen Arten. Qual foi a emenda de 1972?

This work explains that it was the constitutional amendment of 1972, established by a civil military regime, which would modify the constitutional text of 1853 with its reforms of 1860, 1866, 1898 and 1957, in a society that could not find its political direction, as a consequence of the different civic-military interventions, its analysis attempts to show their characteristics. The author concludes stating that the 1972 amendment was a bad experience, thought from a “laboratory” where the best version of a constitution was supposed to come out, time would show that it was far from the sustenance and legitimacy that only the people voting can grant.El presente trabajo explica que fue la enmienda constitucional de 1972, instaurada por un régimen cívico militar, que modificaría el texto constitucional de 1853 con sus reformas de 1860, 1866, 1898 y 1957, en una sociedad que no encontraba su rumbo político, como consecuencia de las diferentes intervenciones cívico militares, el análisis de la misma intenta mostrar sus características. Mayoralty in Northern Ireland: Symbolism or Substance?

This chapter attempts three tasks. First, it explores the context of the debate about the constitutional position and role of the chair/mayor in Northern Ireland local government since 1898, while emphasising the most recent period from 1972 onwards. Second, it considers how, despite local government’s functional unimportance, the election of one high-profile republican Mayor (Alex Maskey) to Belfast City Council, a bastion of unionist power and supremacy, offered wider potential for power-sharing arrangements. Finally, in the light of an ongoing major review of local government, it discusses what the future offers for mayors/chairs in Northern Ireland

Florida’s Shad and River Herrings (Alosa species): a review of Population and Fishery Characteristics

Of the six shad and river herring species (Clupeidae: Alosa species) found in North America, five occur in Florida (Figure 1), more than in any other state in the U.S. These species, with one possible exception, are anadromous (i.e., they move from salt water to fresh water to spawn). On Florida’s Atlantic coast, there are three species: American shad (Alosa sapidissima), hickory shad (A. mediocris), and blueback herring (A. aestivalis). Two species are present on Florida’s gulf coast: Alabama shad (A. alabamae) and skipjack herring (A. chrysochloris).The Atlantic species range northward from Florida to as far as Canada, and the gulf species range westward to Louisiana. This document summarizes information about Florida’s populations of Alosa species and discusses the status and trends of those populations. (26pp.
