A yield trial comparing 30 cultivars of potatoes (Solatium tuberosum L.) was conducted during the 1999 growing season at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station’s (AFES) Palmer Research Center, Matanuska Farm, located six miles west of Palmer, Alaska. Similar to 1998, this trial included irrigated but not irrigated treatments. Data from previous studies has documented the consistent need for irrigation as well as the magnitude of increases in yield that can be realized through irrigation

PENGGUNAAN MODEL DISCOVERY LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN RASA PERCAYA DIRI DAN HASIL BELAJAR SISWA PADA SUBTEMA WUJUD BENDA DAN CIRINYA (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas di Kelas V Semester Ganjil SDN Halimun Bandung Kecamatan Lingkar Kota Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017)

Psychosocial Studies and Psychology: Is a Critical Approach Emerging?

    Get PDF
This article describes a brand of 'psychosocial studies' that adopts a critical attitude towards psychology as a whole, yet remains rooted in an attempt to theorize the 'psychological subject'. Principles for psychosocial studies work of this kind are discussed, arising out of the actual work of one academic centre within a university department of psychology. These principles are: concern with the human subject as a social entity; interest in the emergence of subjectivity in the social domain; interest in critique, defined as a concern with ideological issues in psychology; methodological pluralism, including an active assertion of the value of qualitative and theoretical research, as well as more traditional quantitative research; theoretical pluralism, including interest in discourses traditionally marginalized in academic psychology (e.g. psychoanalysis, systems theory, feminist theory, phenomenology); interest in inter- and transdisciplinary approaches to psychological theory and research; and interest in personal and social change, including psychotherapy. Some complicating issues relating to the process and content of this kind of work are also outlined

The re-dating of some Scottish specimens by the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit (ORAU)

    Get PDF
The purpose of this note is to alert readers to the fact that some AMS dates determined by ORAU on Scottish material between 2000 and 2002 have had to be deleted and re-determined, because of a problem in the ultrafiltration system used to pretreat bone samples during that period (see C Bronk Ramsey, T Higham, A Bales and R Hedges 2004, Improvements in the pretreatment of bone at Oxford, Radiocarbon 46(1), 155–63, for details). In many cases it has been possible to undertake the re-dating using left over material from the original (unprocessed) samples; in other cases, re-sampling will be necessary. Lists of both sets of material are appended here, and readers are requested to use only the new dates, and to delete the old versions

Cross Section Limits for the 208^{208}Pb(86^{86}Kr,n)293^{293}118 Reaction

In April-May, 2001, the previously reported experiment to synthesize element 118 using the 208^{208}Pb(86^{86}Kr,n)293^{293}118 reaction was repeated. No events corresponding to the synthesis of element 118 were observed with a total beam dose of 2.6 x 1018^{18} ions. The simple upper limit cross sections (1 event) were 0.9 and 0.6 pb for evaporation residue magnetic rigidities of 2.00 TmT m and 2.12 TmT m, respectively. A more detailed cross section calculation, accounting for an assumed narrow excitation function, the energy loss of the beam in traversing the target and the uncertainty in the magnetic rigidity of the Z=118 recoils is also presented. Re-analysis of the primary data files from the 1999 experiment showed the reported element 118 events are not in the original data. The current results put constraints on the production cross section for synthesis of very heavy nuclei in cold fusion reactions.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures. Submitted to EPJ

A Comparative Study On Application Of Regulation Of Hygiene Education Dated 5 July 2013 Between Göynük And Güdül Counties

    Get PDF
Regulation of Hygiene Education has been published in compliance with the EU acquis on July 5, 2013 and has become valid on July 5, 2014. This study was conducted to determine the effect of local governments on increasing awareness and to increase the level of awareness as a result of the application of the trainings in Goynuk and Gudul in accordance with the regulations. During this study; questions have been asked by survey techniques and the responses have been analyzed by Student's t-test. In the study, it was observed that awareness of employees and employers was increased when the training was completed; whereas the level of awareness of the employees and employers not receiving training were quite low. It was understood that awareness is developed according to the importance given by the local authorities having audit liability
