Handwritten church record book from Zion Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. Records span from 1817 through 1894. Records include church conferences and membership rolls. Loose pages added to the volume include three called church conferences (1866, 1882, 1892) and three transfer of letters (1822, 1870, 1882). Thesis (Ph.D.)--Boston UniversityThe purpose of this study is to explain the British reaction to the principal events of the French Third Republic from 1870 to 1882, a significant period in Anglo-French relations. Previous historical investigation of these years has placed a disproportionate emphasis on diplomatic records, whereas the sentiments and views of the British nation have not previously been made the subject of a systematic study. The material for this research consists primarily of diaries, letters, biographies, autobiographies, monthly reviews, and newspapers. Each chapter traces the general trend and the variations of public opinion during a particular phase of the Republic's history. Despite the shift of European power from Paris to Berlin as a result of the Franco-Prussian War, the British nation continued its close interest in French affairs. New Computational Algorithms for Analyzing the Stability of the Differential Equations System

In this paper we show how to improve the approximate solution of the large Lyapunov equation obtained by an arbitrary method. Moreover, we propose a new method based on refinement process and Weighted Arnoldi algorithm for solving large Lyapunov matrix equation. Finally, some numerical results will be reported to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method

Духовна освіта на Чернігівщині у 1870 – 1882 рр.

Метою дослідження є аналіз роботи духовних навчальних закладів Чернігівської єпархії 1870–1882 рр. Методологічно робота побудована на засадах історичного підходу. Наукова новизна. На підставі матеріалів, які були опубліковані у часописах «Черниговские епархиальные известия» та інших джерелах, уперше здійснено цілісний аналіз діяльності й функціонування духовних навчальних закладів Чернігівської єпархії, а також церковно-парафіяльних шкіл у загальному контексті розвитку Православ'я на Лівобережній Україні. Висновки. Проаналізувавши роботу духовних навчальних закладів, можна констатувати, що рівень духовної освіти на Чернігівщині за цей період історичного часу був цілком на задовільному рівні. У 1870–1882 рр. в єпархії існували семінарія та три духовні школи. Рівень семінарії був досить високим. При семінарії була недільна школа і з 1885 року початкова зразкова школа. У цій школі учні семінарії брали участь у практичних заняттях, дітям давались основні поняття та основи православного віровчення, що сприяло їхньому церковному вихованню та зміцненню у вірі. Рівень підготовки учнів духовних шкіл був середнього або навіть нижче середнього рівнів. І якщо чернігівська школа, яка за своєю матеріально-технічною базою була близькою до семінарії, давала високий рівень освіти, то навчання в новгород-сіверській та стародубській школах було на низькому рівні. В єпархії функціонували парафіяльні школи, які поділялися на два класи: церковно-парафіяльні та школи грамотності. У всіх школах навчалися діти обох статей. Майже в кожній школі була своя бібліотека. Ставлення викладачів до учнів було досить гуманним. Шкільні приміщення зазвичай розташовувалися в селянських будинках. Головним завданням цих шкіл було надати початкову освіту сільським жителям Чернігівщини.The purpose of the study is to analyze the work of the spiritual educational institutions of the Chernihiv Diocese in 1870 - 1882. Methodologically, the work is based on the historical approach. Scientific novelty.On the basis of materials published in the magazines «Chernihiv Diocesan News» and other sources, for the first time a comprehensive analysis of the activities and functioning of the spiritual educational institutions of the Chernihiv diocese, as well as parish schools in the general context of the development of Orthodoxy in the Left Bank of Ukraine. Conclusions. Analyzing the work of spiritual educational institutions, we can conclude that the level of spiritual education in Chernihiv region during this period of historical time was quite satisfactory. In the 1870s and 1882s there were a seminary and three spiritual schools in the diocese. The seminary level was quite high. At the seminary was a Sunday school and, since 1885, an elementary school. At this school, seminary students participated in practical classes, giving the children basic concepts and basics of Orthodox doctrine, which promoted their church upbringing and strengthening in the faith. The level of training of spiritual school students was average or even below average. And if the Chernihiv school, which in its material and technical base was close to the seminary, gave a high level of education, then the studies in Novhorod- Siverskyi and Starodub schools were on the low level. In the diocese there were parochial schools, which were divided into two classes, church-parish schools and literacy schools. In all schools children of both sexes studied. Almost every school had its own library. The teachers’behavior with students was quite humane. School premises were usually located in peasant homes. The primary task of these schools was to provide primary education to the villagers of Chernihiv

The Dynamic Interaction between Equity Prices and Supply Shocks.

This paper develops a theory of medium term share price movements under slow adjustment in the labour market relative to the share market and perfect foresight in the share market. The model seeks to explain the slow movements in real share prices that have been observed in the OECD countries over the past 130 years. Using 130 years of data for the OECD countries, the empirical evidence indicates that movements in factor shares are crucial determinants of medium-term movements in share prices.share prices; supply shocks; rational expectations
