This is a small album composed by Langstroth containing cut covers and pages from the 1843 Freeman’s Almanac that support Langstroth’s written theory that Solomon Thrifty’s true identity (the Almanac’s author) is Joseph Ray. 1883 Industrial Expo Token : Preservation Lab Treatment Report
Received in a polyester lined coin holder. The coin holder has inscription in black ink “1883” on top left corner. “11th Cincinnati expo” on top right corner and “NI” on bottom right corner. The coin holder has inscription in blue ink “Rvlav OH‐Ci 64” on bottom left corner and “very rare” on bottom right corner. The coin holder has staples holding the package closed on all four sides. Measures 3 cm in diameter
Traite d’anatomie chururgicale et de chirurgie experimentale [vol. 2] : Preservation Lab Treatment Report
This item is the second of a 3-volume series received by the lab requiring storage. It is a dark blueish-green leather half binding with a dark blue, grey, tan, and brown marbled paper covering the boards. The textblock features a trimmed edge. The text is in French and is printed in ink on smooth wove paper that is sewn through the fold onto three recessed cords. The leather spine features four false raised bands, with the title of the volume appearing in gold tooling. Part of the leather spine is torn off completely, with the remaining part partially detached along the joints, exposing a strip of tattle tape on top of a green wastepaper spine lining featuring printed English text. The section of the leather spine that is completely torn off is inside the front cover inside a small polyethylene baggie. The inside of the front cover features a Cincinnati Hospital Library bookplate. This item arrived without housing
Nauicula siue speculũ fatuorum, Ship of Fools no. 49 : Preservation Lab Treatment Report
This is a new acquisition for the John Miller Burnam Classics Library. This is a single folio from the Ship of Fools book no.49 from Sebastian Brant. This is a print by Albrecht Durer. The folio has a printed woodcut on the verso illustrating a Demon approaching a vain Woman admiring herself in the mirror, as described in the dealer’s catalogue.
