The new boundaries of academic integrity
Originally published in French:Les nouvelles frontières de l’intégrité académique, Editions EMS, Caen, 2023 (collection "Questions de société").This book extends and completes the construction of the sciences of integrity begun in 2021, and continued at the 2nd IRAFPA International Colloquium in Coimbra, Portugal, 16-18 June 2022. Eleven most accomplished contributions attempt to answer the question of what these new frontiers of integrity are in a changing academic world.
If we were to define a unity of tone between them, it would be that of frankness; a unity of analysis, that of rigour; a unity of vision, that of academic rigour; and a unity of character, that of lucid optimism. It is this optimism that allows us to believe that the integrity sciences movement, capable of addressing the personal, relational and systemic levels, is well and truly underway.
The ground assumption of the editors is that multidisciplinarity is central and necessary. It is mainly through multidisciplinarity that intellectual propositions can be fully validated, through the subtle variations of disciplinary perspectives and levels of analysis. In order to ethically remain in our own zone of discomfort, we all need this cross-validation, which ensures that everyone, author and reader alike come to a same ground of understanding
Justicia territorial y bioética : transformar diálogos de saberes en diálogos de haceres
The objectives of this theoretical review, which simultaneously articulates applied
research, are the following: a-communicate a theoretical and practical
synthesis of Territorial Justice in Latin America, b-introduce the knowledge
of some perspectives of Bioethics related to Territorial Justice, and c-analyze
and recognize some aspects in common between Territorial Justice and
Bioethics with the purpose of transforming dialogues of knowledge into dialogues
of doing. With contributions from teachers in transformation theories
and in Participatory-Action-Research, as well as territorial and environmental
theories, the pollination of this group of more than 1500 people for almostfour decades emphasizes methods, techniques and concrete useful devices;
so that we can make our utopias come true and thus walk through new ones,
always from a rigorous, popular, emerging and transforming science. This
publication has the goal of inviting to solidify the bridges between these two
disciplines–one in development, the other more developed–so that together
they can accompany in the coming decades the concrete work of a number
of other sciences that produce invaluable contributions to knowledge, and a
more respectful human evolution of the Planet and its beings. The receptivity
in the work from other disciplines will be more than favorable if from the
Territorial Justice and Bioethics we manage to land theoretical, axiological
and epistemological principles, with specific scientific devices, methods and
techniques to achieve it. In this short text we communicate and propose clues
for it
Ethical leadership and investment for a sustainable future : a reference manual
Exists also in French under the title:
Leadership et investissement éthique vers un avenir durable : un manuel de référence, Globethics Publications, 2024 (ISBN 9782889316236).This Reference Manual has been prepared as a result of the African Church Assets Programme (ACAP) journey, initiated by the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) General Assembly in Kampala, Uganda in 2013. The learning made available in the Manual through case studies, actionable steps and the self-assessment questionnaire are provided with the aim to promote ethical leadership and practices within churches and church-related organizations. It is designed as a guide and reference for leaders within these organizations, offering insights, strategies, and practical tools to promote integrity and accountability in all facets of their roles. At its core, ethical leadership in faith- based organizations is rooted in the principles of transparency, honesty, integrity, inclusivity, accountability and righteousness. Leaders are entrusted with the sacred responsibility of stewarding not only the resources and missions of their organizations but also the spiritual well-being and trust of
their communities. By applying the strategies and principles contained in this Manual, it is possible to engage in transformative change, which is all about restoring a culture of improved ethical leadership and investment in our institutions. Welcome, and feel encouraged to use and to share this Reference Manual with others
Territorio y bien común : una propuesta de diálogo fraterno
We want to present some principles derived from the encyclicals Laudato Sí
and Fratelli Tutti, of Franciscan inspiration, which could be used from bioethics,
and would allow decision makers and technicians who accompany them
some guidelines for the planning of the territory that they have these three
elements: the space as a natural element, the community that in habits it and
the power relations that contribute to its ordering. For this, it is necessary to
understand that the territory is made up of different visions of the same space
in which the natural and the anthropic are mixed, generating a varied and
complex network of relationships. When analysing a territory, it must be considered
its physical-spatial components and the different relationships woven
with the communities that inhabit it, shaping their identities, loaded with cultural,
social, economic, and political experiences, among others, that give theplace particular characteristics that help to differentiate it from other spaces.
Therefore, the territory is the base and sustenance of the different communities
that inhabit it, where it is determined by them, generating different scales
of understanding, boundaries and collective experiences, that print their quality
of complex socio-ecological space and in constant change, which is why
it is necessary to establish a fraternal dialogue between decision makers and
communities that allow the common good and justice between generations
and achieve the protection of their biological and cultural diversity

Inteligencia territorial y protocolos comunitarios bioculturales como mecanismos que permiten la deliberación ética y bioética en las intervenciones territoriales
We reflect on the need for territorial intervention methodologies that allow
for community participation and include criteria for the protection of life,
autonomy and traditional knowledge, among others. Without these mechanisms,
practices such as: exploitation of resources and knowledge without communityconsent, homicide of social leaders, forced displacement of communities and
contamination, among others, which are common in Colombia and other
countries when interventions are carried out in the territories, will continue to
be perpetuated. Two methodologies that allow community empowerment and
direct participation in projects are given as examples: biocultural community
protocols and territorial intelligence, whose strengths are centered on a territorial
reading from the complexity and processes of dialogue and deliberation
between actors and agents that allow the adoption of ethical and bioethical
criteria applied to territorial management. Their weaknesses are: the scarce
knowledge of agents and actors in some countries that do not allow a better
adoption and the pace of intervention that may not coincide with the time and
costs required by the agents, which would lead to inadequate practices that blur
these mechanisms
