English language teaching in vocational education is more challenging than in academic education. Variations of learners’ English backgrounds (low intake) and high demands of ESP for learners of vocational colleges aggravate the situations. Conventional teaching strategies such as lecturing and tutoring might not be sufficient to cope with these problems. Educators should utilize more effective way to improve teaching and learning in order to maximize students’ achievements. Various strategies have been used by previous researchers to solve these obstacles. Yet, Cooperative learning strategy is a promising solution to promote better English learning in vocational educations. Thus, this article tries to describe the use of a Cooperative Learning strategy in teaching English for vocational education students. The application of the strategy proved that the students could achieve better achievements in English through the strategy than conventional ones. The results revealed that the strategy is effective to use in vocational educations

In Bangladesh, 80 % of the country’s total export revenue comes from the garment industries. There are 3.5 million workers in 4825 garment factories. This garment production chain held in Bangladesh then export to the global market, mostly Europe and North America. This industrial sector generates the wealth of Bangladhesis and helps improve their lives whom 85% of them are women. Besides, most of the garment workers in Bangladesh earn a small amount of money. Bangladesh garment workers also got no decent working condition. They used to work for 14-16 hours per day seven in a week. As well as, worker’s working condition is relatively unsafe, cramped, and hazardous. That condition potentially leads to work injuries and factory fires. Also, many of the woman workers reportedly got engaged in sexual harassment and discrimination. This such phenomena done by major fashion industry have been called as sweatshop industry. This paper is focused on what have done by the fashion industries, more specifically in relation to labor rights. The result of this research is the customers are having a huge control of fashion industry sustainability, if customers are wise enough to avoid sweatshop fashion brand, the brand itself will collapse

Synthesis of EDTA-crosslinked Chitosancarboxymethyl Cellulose Film as Cu(II) Adsorbent

    Get PDF
EDTA-crosslinked chitosan-carboxymethyl cellulose (C-CMC) film as Cu(II) adsorbent was synthesized. The study aimed to investigate the optimum value of EDTA, Chitosan and CMC to form a polyelectrolyte complex and their effect to the adsorption properties. The film stability in acid and base medium, swelling behaviour, surface morphology by SEM and functional groups by FTIR was investigated. The FTIR spectra showed -NH2 from chitosan and –COO– from CMC and EDTA were present and found to act as the active sites in bond formation to form a crosslinked PEC structure and chelating sites for adsorption process. The formation of interpenetration network was observed by SEM. Swelling capacity was enhanced with CMC addition. EDTA addition decreased swelling capacity yet increased film stability in acidic medium. The optimum condition for Cu(II) adsorption was at pH 5 for 90 mins with initial metal concentration of 100 mg/L resulted in adsorption capacity of 73.95 mg/g. The adsorption process well-fitted to pseudo-second order and Freundlich model. The interaction of Cu(II) onto the active sites of the film was dominated by covalent coordination and exhibit the best desorption capacity with the aid of Na2EDTA
