This article revisits the traditionally jittery Latvianā€“Russian relations during the COVID-19 pandemic through the lens of securitization. Though the pandemic might have offered less space for confrontation and possible prospects for differentiation of (de)securitization vectors, the mutual securitization processes have continued in the vein of previous years. Furthermore, they have showed no signs of easing as not only have the traditional issues remained securitized but new thematic areas both related and unrelated to the pandemic have taken center stage. All in all, the pandemic has opened new avenues for securitization, though it had no fundamental impact on the established securitization trends.publishersversionPeer reviewe

On the one hand, intensive application of information technology innovations in the societyā€™s everyday life and appearance of the sphere of virtual communication create wide space for realisation of possibilities, but on the other hand, it often leads to social atomisation of a personality. Urgency of the given research is caused by dynamics of the information flow as a global factor of contemporaneity that gave rise to the problem of social atomisation of the personality expressed in mediated communication, characterised by isolation of the individual, when the virtual environment becomes the main channel of communication excluding traditional ways of relations.

Due to today's complex and changing geopolitical situation in the State Border Guard College as one of the militarized educational institutions it is important to promote the student's understanding of values and virtues, enrich their historical and cultural experience, strengthen their patriotism, belonging and loyalty to the constitution and to the Republic of Latvia. Patriotism canā€™t be defined because it varies according to the subject's position. It is not a specific ideology, but this is a love of native land and defending it in words and in works. Patriotism means to love own country not just idolize the state symbols. Aim of the study is to clarify and scientifically substantiate the necessity of introducing the study subject ā€œState Fosterageā€ into studies of border guards at the State Border Guard College as one of the militarized educational institutions and to determine the development of students' statehood consciousness, loyalty and patriotism as one of the study programs objectives at the State Border Guard College. For this purpose analysis and evaluation of documents, scientific, pedagogical and psychological literature were performed and conclusions about the necessity of introduction of the State Fosterage subject and possibilities of patriotism development were summarized

Izmantojot tÄ«klveida struktÅ«ru analÄ«zes modeļus un citas statistiskās analÄ«zes metodes, novērots, ka indivÄ«du vidÅ« novērota bÅ«tiska depresijas simptomu un kognitÄ«vo funkciju mijsakarÄ«bu heterogenitāte. Tas lika secināt, ka lÄ«dzÅ”inējie pieņēmumi par depresijas simptomu un kognitÄ«vo funkciju homgenitāti ir pārskatāmi un papildināmi, uzlabojot gan pētniecisko praksi depresijas pētniecÄ«bā, gan klÄ«niskajā praksē.The aim of the thesis was to explore the relationship between depression symptoms and several cognitive functions - motor speed, working memory, executive functions, short-term and long-term memory functions, controlling for age, education and co-occurring disorders symptoms - stress and anxiety. A total of 3,761 participants participated in the study in several stages and sub-studies.
