After outlining the "pleasure deficit" in public health research on family planning, this article applies feminist theorizations of heterosex to study contraceptive use and sexual pleasure. The author considers the limitations and potentials of theorizing heterosex variously as agential, transgressive, and/or constrained for public health research

AbstractThis article analyses narratives set against the backdrop of collective trauma, such as Bernice Eisenstein’s I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors (2006), Catherine Mavrikakis’ Le Ciel de Bay City (2008), and Marie-Célie Agnant’s The Book of Emma (2004). Building upon the definition of pain as the “physical life of a story” (Ahmed 2004), it offers a reflection on the relationships between the pain experienced by others, the body and a traumatic history. Ultimately, it comes down to considering a politics of feminist pain from the reading of these texts.RésuméLe présent article analyse des récits qui ont pour toile de fond des traumatismes collectifs, soit I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors (2006) de Bernice Eisenstein, Le Ciel de Bay City (2008) de Catherine Mavrikakis, et Le Livre d’Emma (2004) de Marie-Célie Agnant. S’étayant sur la définition de la douleur comme « vie corporelle d’une histoire » (Ahmed 2004), il propose une réflexion sur les rapports entre la douleur vécue par d’autres, le corps et une histoire traumatique. Ultimement, il s’agit de penser une politique féministe de la douleur à partir de la lecture de ces textes

Mary Black was an internationally-known weaver and a key figure in Nova Scotia's craft renaissance during the 1940s and 1950s. The Leadership of Women: A Conversation Among Presidents of Mount Saint Vincent University

Atlantis is pleased to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Mount Saint Vincent by including an edited conversation among past and current Presidents of the Mount. Sister Mary Albertus Haggerty was president from 1974 - 1978; E. Margaret Fulton, from 1978 - 1986; Naomi Hersom, from 1987 - 1991; Elizabeth Parr-Johnston, from 1991 - 1996; and Sheila Brown, 1996 to the present. The original conversation was held in the Fall of 1998, and was chaired by Wayne Ingalls, who had worked with each of the Presidents during her tenure. Elizabeth Parr-Johnston was not able to be present at the original conversation, and was taped separately in conversation with Sheila Brown.Atlantis est Her de celebrer le 125eme anniversaire du Mount Saint Vincent en incluant une conversation revisee entre les anciennes presidentes et la presidente actuelle du Mount. Feminist Organizations and Intersectionality: Contesting Hegemonic Feminism

This paper is a theoretical examination of the foundational ideologies of hegemonic feminism which continue to be contested by feminists engaging with intersectional frameworks and analyses both within the women's movement(s) and feminist organizations in North America. The paper additionally discusses the structures and processes of feminist collectives while drawing on the author's current research on Vancouver Status of Women. Transfixed in Lesbian Paradise

This narrative essay reflects upon experiences at the Toronto Women's Bathhouse to think about asymmetrical conditions of trans inclusion in lesbian erotic and cultural spaces. It queries the affective disjunctures between formal policies of trans-inclusion in women's spaces and "on the ground" interpersonal recognition of trans women as women and of trans men as men. Résumé Cet étude narrative se penche sur les expériences à la Women's Bathhouse de Toronto, pour penser aux conditions asymétriques de l'inclusion trans dans les sites culturels lesbiens érotiques.
