This study investigated the contextual and organizational challenges in public housing provision in Nigeria in the post independence era. It was motivated by dearth of empirical studies on organizational challenges in public housing in this country. Using data derived from a survey of fifteen public housing agencies in southern Nigeria, the study found that scarcity of housing finance, lack of consistency and continuity in housing policy formulation and poor implementation strategies, unfavorable political environment and declining population of tradesmen in the construction industry were key contextual challenges militating against public housing provision. In addition, low level of inter-agencies collaborations, poor staff motivation and rewarding system as well as inadequate operational equipment and vehicles were responsible for the inability of public housing agencies to deliver on their housing mandate in the study area. The paper suggests that stable polity, consistency in housing policies and programs and capacity building in public housing agencies through public-private partnerships are needed to improve on the quantity and quality of public housing in Nigeri

Abstract This research aimed at exploring reading habits, opinions and attitudes about reading of the candidate teachers who studied at School of Physical Education and Sports of Adnan Menderes University. A questionnaire form -the first part of which addressed demographic questions and the second part targeted at candidate teachers’ opinions and attitudes about reading- was administered to 102 candidate teachers who participated in the research voluntarily (female candidate teachers= 39 and male candidate teachers=63). Attitude Scale towards Reading Habit is a Likert type scale consisted of six subscales and contains 30 questions. Its validity and reliability tests have been performed. Percentages, Mann-Whitney Test and Kruskal-Wallis Test were conducted for the data analysis. As results of the research, values obtained for female candidate teachers’ reading habits and desire to read were higher than male teachers in all six subscales and also there was a significant difference in love, habit, desire and benefit subscales and general total scores (p<0.05). Female and male candidate teachers emphasized the importance of reading whereas effects and benefits of reading were adopted by female candidate teachers more.

In the analysis of the data, the arithmetical average and standard deviation values were calculated. Independent sampling t-test, one way analysis of variance and regression analysis were also carried out. It was concluded from the study that the variable of the period of service posed a significant difference for the behaviors of the conscientiousness dimension, which is one of the sub-dimensions of organizational citizenship. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of a computer-aided method called ELVES and video-aided instruction on the development of young students’ ability to comprehend what they listen to and watch. Using the video-aided instructions and computer-aided ELVES method, it also analyses the likelihood of the video-aided instruction method being used with different techniques, and compares the instructional methods involved with levels of student success of three different experimental groups. An analysis of the students’ post-test results shows a considerable difference in favour of the computer-aided ELVES method for achieving the target behaviours. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of a computer-aided method called ELVES and video-aided instruction on the development of young students’ ability to comprehend what they listen to and watch. This study aims to analyse, the general power structure of Turkish society, and specifically the Turkish power elite. Also, the relationships within and between the elite groups, and the distribution of power will be examined. This paper will also try to understand and explain the distribution of power in Turkish society: How far is power (effective power) diffused in society or how far it is centralised and concentrated in the hands of elite groups?    In accordance with the pluralists views one could argue that, power has been diffused and fragmented among many people or elite groups which together participate in the decision-making process in contemporary Turkish society. Nevertheless, decisive and effective power (parallel with the main thesis of the elitist view) has been concentrated and centralised in the hands of the small number of elite groups which are the most powerful in the national power structure. They are predominant over other groups and these dominant groups know what others do not know and can do what others cannot do.This study aims to analyse, the general power structure of Turkish society, and specifically the Turkish power elite. Effects of input representation on self-organizing and bottom-up model of chord schema were investigated. A single layer self-organizing map was trained with 12 major and 12 minor chords. Training was repeated five times, each time with a different input representation. In this model, activation of chords is determined by the representation and activation of pitches that compose the chords. Important findings of chord perception were simulated with this model. Simulation results showed that input representation was critical to simulate all of the findings.

The Reduced Aggression and Victimization Scales (RAVS) developed by Orpinas and Horne (2006) were administered to 148 sixth-graders with the aim of knowing the differences in the incidence of peer aggression and peer victimization between boys and girls. RAVS measures the frequency of reporting aggressive behaviors or of being victimized during the previous week prior to the survey. The scales are composed of six items each. Each point represents one instance of aggression or victimization. To be able to determine the differences, independent samples t-test was used. Statistical analyses showed that there were differences in the incidence of peer aggression and peer victimization and were significant at the 0.01 level. With reference to the mean scores, the incidence of both peer aggression and peer victimization were higher among boys compared to girls
