    Get PDF
This research investigates challenges and prospects of the dynamic, bilingual education in the light of Pakistan’s language policy. It guides language policymakers to adopt the dynamic, bilingual policy in Pakistan’s education system. However, the researcher revealed that most of the participants willingly favored and practiced the dynamic model of bilingual instruction, but there is no formal policy guide for them. The employment of this education model is valid and feasible in both theory and practice. Besides, readers and policymakers through this research paper would come to know that the dynamic, bilingual education improves students’ socio-cognitive, linguistic performance and functional biliteracy through translanguaging and multimodalities. The issue of monoglossic separation of languages in Pakistan is yet to be solved. Furthermore, the researcher used qualitative, empirical methodology to do analysis and employed open-ended questionnaires to collect data. The researcher used purposive sampling to collect data from sixteen respondents.  Additionally, findings show that the subtractive language policy, linguistic politics, the power elite’s monolingualism, parents’ obsession with English, and students’ negative attitudes are challenges to the dynamic, bilingual education. In contrast, Pakistan’s multi-lingual reality along with translingual practices, the use of multimodalities, students’ multi-lingual repertoire, functional biliteracy, and transcultural interaction are some of the prospects of the dynamic, bilingual education policy in Pakistan. Thus, there are both challenges and prospects of the dynamic, bilingual education policy in Pakistan

    Get PDF
In this study El Nino effects on rainfall in Iran is evaluated. Annual rainfall data of the selected rain gauging stations for the years when El Nino phenomenon has taken place (1973-2012), have been picked up. Next, annual rainfall of the years with and without El Nino phenomenon were compared and then analyzed (correlation is significant at the 0.01 level). Finally, percentage-frequency of the rainfalls influenced by warm Enso condition was obtained. Regarding that El Nino has different affect on rainfall under different regions of the world, the results approved that El Nino, increases rainfall across Iran plateau as annual rainfall is increased from south to north. While less increasing of rainfall is seen for coastal area. Results showed that El Nino causes increasing of annual rainfall in Iran

Hardcore capability of drug repurposing has allowed rising population of diversified diseased patients to approach various medications with known safety profiles. In an ongoing scenario considering current pharmaceutical market, we have numerous drugs that are approved and repurposed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Developing and bringing a novel drug molecule from the laboratory to a market requires a lot of investment in terms of money, efforts, and time. On the other hand, repurposing a drug holds the capability of bringing out best cures with harmless, ease availability and inexpensive quality. Sildenafil, Chloroquine, Metformin are some examples of repurposed drug used in multiple disease models. Despite numerous challenges, drug repurposing stood to be a core component to any comprehensive drug re-discovering strategies which has been planned to bring benefit to the patients suffering from a wide variety of dreadful ailments. In this review, we have discussed the various repurposed drugs in numerous types of cancer, deadly novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and some orphan diseases. This paper holds various examples of drugs which are still under clinical trial and have high chances of being approved as repurposed drugs benefitting humankind

VLSI Implementation of Reconfigurable FFT Processor Using Vedic Mathematics

    Get PDF
Fast Fourier transform has been used in wide range of applications such as digital signal processing and wireless communications. In this we present a implementation of reconfigurable FFT processor using single path delay feedback architecture. To eliminate the use of read only memory’s (ROM’S). These are used to store the twiddle factors. To achieve the ROM-less FFT processor the proposed architecture applies the bit parallel multipliers and reconfigurable complex multipliers, thus consuming less power. The proposed architecture, Reconfigurable FFT processor based on Vedic mathematics is designed, simulated and implemented using VIRTEX-5 FPGA. Urdhva Triyakbhyam algorithm is an ancient Vedic mathematic sutra, which is used to achieve the high performance. This reconfigurable DIF-FFT is having the high speed and small area as compared with other conventional DIF-FF

Integrating Soft Skills into Courses in Malaysian Public Universities: (Undergraduates’ Perception)

    Get PDF
Malaysian employers demand a high proficiency in soft skills. They are looking beyond academic results when interviewing new staff, hence undergraduates acquiring soft skills is an important issue from different perspectives: the employers, the education system and the students themselves. Despite this emphasis, potential employees, according to employers; lack soft skills. Considering the importance of this issue, this paper’s objective is to comprehend and highlight the perception of undergraduates of the soft skills programs in five research universities in Malaysia. The information presented in this paper is obtained from a survey conducted by distributing 600 questionnaires to undergraduates in Malaysia’s five research universities to determine their understanding of soft skills and how these skills are taught and evaluated in these universities. The initial findings show that there is a strong awareness of the importance of soft skills among undergraduates but the students are not clear about the methods of teaching and evaluating these skills in different courses in different universities. The results illustrate a need for universities in general to develop strategies to enhance soft skills teaching and learning and make undergraduates aware of how these skills are evaluated. The results also suggest that integrating soft skills into university courses does not follow a standard procedure and each university may value and emphasis a different skill. It appears therefore that if universities collaborate their knowledge and experience, they may be able to offer a more practical and beneficial soft skill-training program for undergraduates

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed social mechanisms of our world causing many countries to impose either partial or complete lockdowns. Consequently, many people have resorted to online platforms for undertaking their daily business activities and jobs. Similarly, there is also an increasing trend of online education followed by both teachers and students around the world. Therefore, the aim of this research paper is to explore how a mentee learnt research techniques from a mentor through online platforms. Although researchers have studied the challenges and opportunities of online education during the pandemic, this research will explore how the mentee learnt research techniques from the mentor through emails, WhatsApp interaction, and Microsoft Word track changes feature. In this paper, we have used experiential research methodology for carrying out research. Employing qualitative method of data analysis, we have found out that the feedback and suggestions provided by a mentor to a mentee’s research work through the online platforms have been very safe and effective in improving the mentee’s research skills. Moreover, purposively selected chunks from the mentee’s six revised drafts have been discussed to demonstrate how online education facilitates practical learning during the pandemic. Finally, we are of the view that online platforms may be used as effective pedagogical tools because these facilitate learners to read their mentor’s feedback and suggestions as many times as they desire to improve their performance

The Healthcare sector is growing leaps and bound, so is its data and information. Security and privacy of this Information has become a crucial issue for this proliferating healthcare industry. In this fast moving global scenario, patients need not carry their medical records in a big bag on move, as in this digital world ,all that patients have to do is to get admitted in a hospital for the treatment , rest all is in hands of Information Assets Infrastructure of these mushrooming hospitals. But due to the increased use of patient’s information sharing among doctors, vis hospitals ;patients and their families raise an issue for security of their medical data and records. Hence improving the Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) has become the necessity to keep secure digital patient records for success of hospitals and their brands or at large name and fame of Healthcare Industry. Patients are required to share information with doctors for correct diagnosis and treatment. Security concerns arise, in transmitting and processing electronic medical records, personal healthcare records, patients’ billing records as well as public health alerts across many parties with varying security, privacy and trust levels. Not all hospitals adopt all the essential security measures. In the present paper, we are studying eight International Hospitals to review their Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) standards , concluding their stands on the basis of proposed five principles and also proposing the future scope of implementation of IS in the hospital. We contemplate an Information Security model based on the proposed five principles of Information Security
