Pour une nouvelle politique des études littéraires francophones

Depuis quelques années, les “études littéraires francophones” se sont implantées dans le paysage académique international. Le présent article se propose de revenir sur quelques aspects de ces développements, en soutenant l’hypothèse qu’ils ont d’abord participé à l’élaboration d’une représentation de la “littérature francophone” conforme au projet d’une “Francophonie” diplomatique, pour ensuite ambitionner une performance inséparablement théorique et politique, notamment par le biais du “modèle gravitationnel” et du paradigme postcolonial. Le reflux de la position de surplomb qui caractérisait ces approches nous conduit enfin à interroger les nouvelles formes de politisation des études littéraires (chez Stanley Fish et Yves Citton), en mettant l’accent sur le fonctionnement rhétorique et idéologique des discours sur la littérature.During the past decades, francophone literary studies emerged on the international academic field. This paper aims to look back at a few aspects of these developments. Our hypothesis is that these studies first contributed to build a representation of “francophone literature” very close to the diplomatic “Francophonie” project, then tried to perform both theoretically and politically (our examples will be the “gravitational model” and the postcolonial paradigm). The reflux of the “overlooking position” which defines these approaches brings us to question the new ways to commit literary studies with politics (in Stanley Fish and Yves Citton), by focusing on the rhetorical and ideological operations in the discourses about literature

La législation syndicale de Thatcher à Brown : menaces et opportunités pour les syndicats

La limitation de l’activité syndicale par la mise en place d’une nouvelle législation comptait parmi les priorités des gouvernements de Margaret Thatcher et de John Major à partir de1979. Les quatre Employment Act de 1980, 1982, 1988 et 1990, ainsi que les Trade Union Act de 1984 et de 1993 témoignent de la centralité de cette préoccupation, mais aussi de la méthode gradualiste choisie. Les gouvernements de Blair et de Brown ont abrogé certaines dispositions de ces lois, tout en laissant intacte la plus grande partie des mesures. Par ailleurs, ils ont voté d’autres lois (notamment les Employment Relations Act 1999 et Employment Act 2002) perçues comme étant plus favorables à l’activité syndicale. Cette contribution retrace l’histoire de ces lois, en soulignant les visions politiques qui les inspiraient, le décalage parfois important entre l’objectif annoncé et les résultats atteints, et leurs effets très divers sur la combativité des syndicats anglais.Placing limits on trade union activity by new legislation was among the priorities of the Thatcher-Major governments from 1979 on. The four Employment Acts of 1980, 1982, 1988 and 1990, as well as the Trade Union Acts of 1984 and 1993 show the importance of this aim, as well as the fact that a gradual approach was chosen. The Blair and Brown governments have left intact the most important of these laws, but they have passed new laws seen as more favourable to union activity. This paper looks at the history of these laws, the political vision which inspired them and the practical results. We hope particularly to demonstrate that the gap between theory and practical effect was sometimes large, and to draw conclusions about the various impacts of the laws on trade union combativity

O avanço da direita na Europa

The article discusses the advance of the European Right during the last 15 years from the view of electoral politics as well as the diffusion of ideologies andsentiments. It analyzes the factors of the weakening Left and the strengthening Right, particularly the dismantling of the Welfare State and the growth of neoliberal policies. A history and the main features of the right-wing parties are also addressed.O artigo discute o avanço da direita na Europa, nos últimos 15 anos, tanto do ponto de vista político-eleitoral como da difusão de ideologias e sentimentos. São analisados os fatores de enfraquecimento da esquerda e crescimento da direita, em particular a desestruturação do Estado do Bem-Estar e as políticas neoliberais.
