Transistor bonding pad configuration for uniform injection and low inductance

    Get PDF
Modification of process for fabricating transistors, which comprises a metallization-pattern design for emitter and base areas together with a double bonding configuration for each emitter and base-bonding lead, improves uniformity of carrier injection in transistors and of reducing lead inductances at base-emitter terminals

High-voltage pulse generator developed for wide-gap spark chambers

    Get PDF
Low-inductance, high-capacitance Marx pulse generator provides for minimization of internal inductance and suppression of external electromagnetic radiation. The spark gaps of the generator are enclosed in a pressurized nitrogen atmosphere which allows the charging voltage to be varied by changing the nitrogen pressure

Transmission line design for a power distribution system at 20 kHz for aircraft

    Get PDF
A low inductance, low characteristic impedance transmission line was designed for a 20 kHz power distribution system. Several different conductor configurations were considered: strip lines, interdigitated metal ribbons, and standard insulated wires in multiwire configurations (circular and rectangular cylindrical arrangements). The final design was a rectangular arrangement of multiple wires of the same gauge with alternating polarities from wire to wire. This offered the lowest inductance per unit length (on the order of several nanohenries/meter) and the lowest characteristic impedance (on the order of one Ohm). Standard multipin connectors with gold-plated elements were recommended with this transmission line, the junction boxes to be internally connected with flat metal ribbons for low inductance, and the line to be constructed in sections of suitable length. Computer programs for the calculation of inductance of multiwire lines and of capacitances of strip lines were developed

A back to back multilevel converter for driving low inductance brushless AC machines

    Get PDF
Traditionally, multilevel converters are utilised in medium voltage applications, allowing the DC-link voltage to exceed the switch maximum blocking voltage. Here, their application to control high- efficiency brushless permanent magnet synchronous machines exhibiting low phase inductance is explored, the relative advantages being shown to include reduced current ripple and improved harmonic spectrum. A cost benefit analysis is included along with experimental results from a prototype 5-level back-to-back converter

Josephson charge-phase qubit with radio frequency readout: coupling and decoherence

The charge-phase Josephson qubit based on a superconducting single charge transistor inserted in a low-inductance superconducting loop is considered. The loop is inductively coupled to a radio-frequency driven tank circuit enabling the readout of the qubit states by measuring the effective Josephson inductance of the transistor. The effect of qubit dephasing and relaxation due to electric and magnetic control lines as well as the measuring system is evaluated. Recommendations for operation of the qubit in magic points producing minimum decoherence are given.Comment: 11 pages incl. 6 fig
