The availability of manufacturing machinery is crucial for having a productive production line. So, for industrialists, being successful in the field of maintenance is crucial if they want to make sure that key equipment is performing as it should and that unscheduled downtime is kept to a minimum. Predictive maintenance skills are viewed as being essential with the rise of complex industrial processes. The assistance that contemporary value chains may provide for a company's maintenance role is another area of focus. The development of sensors and Industry 4.0 technologies has greatly improved access to data from equipment, processes, and products. Electric motor condition monitoring and predictive maintenance help the industry avoid significant financial losses brought on by unforeseen motor breakdowns and significantly increase system dependability. This research offers Enhanced Nave Bayes Artificial Neural Network-based machine learning architecture for Predictive Maintenance. The system was tested in an industrial setting by building a data collection and analysis system using sensors, analyzing the data with a machine learning approach, and comparing the results to those generated by a simulation tool. With the help of the Azure Cloud, the Data Analysis Tool may access information collected by a wide variety of sensors, machine PLCs, and communication protocols. Preliminary results show that the method correctly predicts a wide range of machine states

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of intangible asset on financial performance with competitive advantage as a mediation at Tenun Ikat SMEs Lamongan. The research development is done by by studying and analyzing both the direct effect of intangible asset on financial performance, and indirect effect through competitive advantage. The research sample is 35 business units selected using saturated sampling method, that is all the members of the population sampled. Data is analyzed by Partial Least Square (PLS) with SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results show that intangible asset has significant effect on competitive advantage, but has no significant effect on financial performance. Competitive advantage is related to financial performance. The mediation test indicates that competitive advantage gives the role as a complete mediation on the effect of intangible asset on financial performance. This research implies that in order to enhance SME’s financial performance, the manager should ensure that the firm has a competitive advantage. A well managed intangible asset will lead SMEs to win the completion and at the end it will enhance SME’s financial performance

Industry 4.0 in manufacturing in Brazil: analysis of benefits and barriers to adoption

    No full text
Dentre os principais resultados, a pesquisa identificou na literatura científica os principais benefícios e barreiras provenientes da adoção da Indústria 4.0 e criou um framework que pode ajudar pesquisadores e gerentes e executivos de empresas envolvidas com a implementação das tecnologias de Indústria 4.0.Industry 4.0 is formed by the integration of new information and communication technologies, as well as intelligent technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence and analysis and processing techniques, in real time, of data from the production system that greatly increase the productive capacity and also the operational competences of quality, productivity, costs, flexibility and innovation. In this context, this study aims to identify the benefits and barriers related to the adoption of Industry 4.0 in Brazilian manufacturers and understand how these factors are related and affected in relation to the size of companies, technological intensity and origin of capital. The study makes a systematic review of the literature in two scientific bases and 53 articles were selected in order to map the main benefits and barriers related to the adoption of Industry 4.0 in the manufactures to create a framework. In total, 10 benefits and 9 barriers were identified. The framework created was used to create a structured questionnaire sent to managers and directors of the information technology, innovation and operations areas of 127 companies that implemented Industry 4.0 technologies created by integrators that are part of the Finep Inovacred 4.0 initiative. Data were collected using Google Forms and respondents were invited to participate on Linkedin. A total of 194 completed questionnaires were received and data analysis was performed using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney and Kruskall-Wallis tests. These tests were used to examine possible differences in assessments of benefits and barriers arising from Industry 4.0 in two or more groups of respondents. Overall, the survey results indicate that benefits of a more operational nature were considered more important by small-medium sized companies with national capital origin. On the other hand, benefits of a more strategic and managerial nature were considered more important by large and international companies. In relation to barriers, in general, the results show that large and international companies consider the barriers assessed as more important than small-medium and national companies. Among the main results, the research identified in the scientific literature the main benefits and barriers arising from the adoption of Industry 4.0 and created a framework that can help researchers and managers and executives of companies involved with the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologie
