    Although online communities make it possible for a far greater number of participants to interact on the Web, there are challenges in creating mechanisms that reveal reputations for participants. Reputation Systems provide a proxy that establishes trust in e-commerce communities, social communities, and social news communities. There remain questions as to how reputation systems can be more widely used in online communities without damaging user confidence because participants have strong privacy expectations. This paper will review reputation systems in online communities, examine types, properties, and issues of reputation systems, survey the use of social networks and reputation systems in popular online communities, and present a research agenda to address issues of reputation systems

    Management Emotion and Firm’s Propensity of Strategic IT Investment

    Firm’s propensity of strategic IT investment describes the tendency of firms to engage in different strategic roles of IT when IT investment decisions are made. Different from prior IS business value literature that has largely taken rational decision making for granted, this paper considers the irrational characteristics of firms’ decision making and investigated the impacts of management emotion on firms’ propensity of strategic IT investment. Based on 191 annual reports data of 32 companies from three industries in a 6-year period (i.e., 2010-2015 fiscal year), we applied sentiment analysis to retrieve emotion tunes embedded in each report and analyzed the relationship with both the volume and the composition of three types of strategic IT signals (automate, informate and transform). Our results show that positive management emotion promotes firm’s propensity of all types of strategic IT investments, however, informate and/or transform IT gain more weights.     Assessment of genetic relationships among Spring Dendrobium cultivars and varietal materials using amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) analysis

    Spring Dendrobiums have been largely produced as one of the top grade ornamental pot plants due to their various flower colors, multitudinous flowers and graceful flower shape as well as their long period of florescence. Genetic relationships among Spring Dendrobium cultivars, however, have not been documented. This study analyzed the genetic relatedness of 30 commonly grown cultivars or varietal materials using amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers with near-infrared fluorescence-labeled primers. Eight EcoRI + 3 bases/MseI + 3 bases primer set combinations were used in this investigation. Each selected primer set generated 113 to 158 scorable fragments. A total of 1102 AFLP fragments were detected, of which 778 were polymorphic (70.6%). An unweighted pair-group method of the arithmetic averages (UPGMA), principal coordinate analysis (PCOA), and bootstrap analysis were used to analyze the genetic relationships. The 30 cultivars were separated into five clusters. Cluster I contains 6 cultivars that are either from Senlan No.1 or Senlan No. 6 with Jaccardfs similarity coefficients ranging from 0.70 to 0.80. All of these 6 cultivars came from Taiwan, and were derived from somaclonal variants or sports. Just 3 cultivars were positioned in cluster II ranging from 0.71 to 0.76, and also originated from Taiwan. Cluster III included 13 cultivars, Jaccardfs similarity coefficients varied from 0.69 to 0.84. Seven cultivars from Senlan No. 15 or eSnowboy Romancef were situated in cluster IV with Jaccardfs similarity coefficients ranging from 0.69 to 0.82. Only eSantana Canaryf was positioned in cluster ‡X with Jaccardfs similarity coefficient at 0.62. This study established the genetic relationships of these commonly cultivated Spring Dendrobiums, and raised a concern over genetic vulnerability of cultivars in this study because of their close genetic similarities.Key words: Spring Dendrobium, amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP), genetic relationship, cultivars and varietal materials

    Cosmic-ray-mediated Formation of Benzene on the Surface of Saturn's Moon Titan

    The aromatic benzene molecule (C_6H_6)—a central building block of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon molecules—is of crucial importance for the understanding of the organic chemistry of Saturn's largest moon, Titan. Here, we show via laboratory experiments and electronic structure calculations that the benzene molecule can be formed on Titan's surface in situ via non-equilibrium chemistry by cosmic-ray processing of low-temperature acetylene (C_2H_2) ices. The actual yield of benzene depends strongly on the surface coverage. We suggest that the cosmic-ray-mediated chemistry on Titan's surface could be the dominant source of benzene, i.e., a factor of at least two orders of magnitude higher compared to previously modeled precipitation rates, in those regions of the surface which have a high surface coverage of acetylene

    Systematic Differences in Firm’s Information Technology Signaling: Implications for Research Design

    Because research programs investigating IT-related phenomena are hindered by limitations in the availability of archival data, researchers have used a variety of data collection strategies including the gathering of firms’ IT signaling via press releases to the media. Little is known, however, about firms’ IT signaling propensities. Here, contents of firms’ press releases and annual reports are coded to test a model explaining a firm’s propensity to signal stakeholders about its IT-related activities. Results demonstrate that firms transmitting greater numbers of IT signals tend to be low performers in their industries, tend to reside in industries characterized by a transform industry IT strategic role and tend to be larger. Implications of these findings for research design are provided

Using the supply function and demand function to analyze the behavior rule during the course of the price change, in the paper we established and proved a series of intersecting chord theorems about concave supply function and demand function, thus we got a transaction mechanism of negotiating prices that manufacturers and distributors submitted the supply and demand according to node gradually recursion algorithm after the first offer made by the e-commerce platform, And proved the negotiated price converged to the equilibrium price of supply and marketing
