DISTANCE MEASURES IN AGGREGATING PREFERENCE DATA
The aim of this paper is to present aggregation methods of individual preferences scores by means of distance measures. Three groups of distance measures are discussed: measures which use preference distributions for all pairs of objects (e.g. Kemeny’s measure, Bogart’s measure), distance measures based on ranking data (e.g. Spearman distance, Podani distance) and distance measures using permissible transformations to ordinal scale (GDM2 distance). Adequate distance formulas are presented and the aggregation of individual preference by using separate distance measures was carried out with the use of the R program
Switch preference analysis by the drift vector method
The matrix of switch preference data (e.g. one’s preference for brand j, given that one has already defined his/her first choice for brand i) is not symmetric. The averaging of appropriate off-diagonal proximity entries for such data leads to the loss of information, hence the necessity to use appropriate methods for asymmetric data. Among the chosen methods of asymmetric multidimensional scaling, particular attention was paid to the drift vectors method. This method enables to present simultaneously on the perceptual map both the configuration of points representing the analyzed objects and the vectors indicating the direction and the strength of changes in the respondents preferences
The Preference Analysis of University of Third Age Members Using Selected Asymmetric Multidimensional Scaling Methods
This paper has a methodological and empirical character. Its aims at analysis the changes that have occurred in the preferences of the University of the Third Age members from 2009 to 2013. The study used two methods of asymmetric multidimensional scaling: the gravity unfolding analysis and the drift vectors method. Gravity unfolding analysis was used for the graphical presentation of the respondents' preference similarities in a definite period, and the drift vectors method was used to indicate the direction and the strength of this changes

Geometrical presentation of preferences by using unfolding models
W artykule zaprezentowano wybrane modele analizy unfolding. Wskazano na różnicę
między wewnętrzną i zewnętrzną analizą unfolding. Omówiono również model wektorowy będący
szczególnym przypadkiem modelu punktu idealnego oraz ważone modele unfolding

Wpływ wyboru triad na wyniki skalowania preferencji
In the method of triads for a set of n objects all three element sets of objects are presented to the respondents. A respondent is asked to pick out the most similar and the least similar pair. The method of triads, despite its numerous advantages, is rarely used in practice. The number of triads is a cubic function of the number of objects and increases very rapidly with the number of objects. The aim of the study is to indicate the possibility of scaling preferences based on the reduced number of triads. It has also been examined whether the change of reduced set of triads influences the results of the scaling. The results of the analysis are illustrated by an empirical example in which preference scaling for different sets of triads was performed with the use of TRISOSCAL program.W metodzie triad dla zbioru n obiektów respondentom przedstawiane są wszystkie możliwe trójelementowe zestawy obiektów.
Pomiar preferencji z wykorzystaniem triad
Wykorzystanie metody triad zilustrowano przykładem empirycznym, w którym obliczenia i prezentację wyników przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem programu TRISOSCAL dostępnym w pakiecie NewMDSX
Triads or tetrads? Comparison of two methods for measuring the similarity in preferences under incomplete block design
The measurement of preferences can be based on historical observations of consumer behaviour or on data describing consumer intentions. In the latter case, the measure-ment of preferences is performed using methods which express consumer attitudes at the time of research. However, most of these methods are very laborious, especially when a large number of objects is tested. In such cases incomplete analyses may prove useful. An incomplete analysis involves the division of objects into subgroups, so that each pair of objects appears at exactly the same frequency and all objects are in each subgroup. The purpose of the work is to compare two incomplete methods for measuring the similarity of preferences, i.e. the triad method and the tetrad method. These methods can be used whenever similarities are measured on an ordinal scale. They have been com-pared in terms of their labour intensity and ability to map the known structure of ob-jects, even when all pairs of objects in subgroups cannot be presented equally frequent-ly
Grawitacyjna analiza unfolding dla niesymetrycznej macierzy podobieństw
The multidimensional unfolding analysis which uses in the structure the gravity function allows
consideration and analysis of additional factors (such as market share or brand loyalty), which affect the
assessments of respondents preference scores. In classical unfolding models these factors are ignored or assumed
to be the same for all objects.
The gravity unfolding analysis can also be used for graphical presentation of the data contained in the
asymmetric similarity matrix expressing information about changes in respondents’ preferences in a definite
period. As a result, instead of the configuration of points representing objects and respondents, the configuration
of points representing objects at different periods is obtained.
temat zmian preferencji respondentów w pewnym okresie.
