Análisis de los actuales servicios de información para los centros de investigación

Se exponen los criterios de los autores acerca de la masificación de los servicios personalizados y de valor añadidos en los centros de información al servicio de los centros de investigación, así como las posibilidades inmediatas de la implementación de estos servicios y la consecuente elevación de las prestaciones en los centros de información. Se analizan los criterios que fundamentan la propuesta, la forma de implementación y las posibilidades de aplicación teniendo en cuenta realidades como la cubana. Una vez planteada la filosofía de trabajo a utilizar, se realiza un análisis pormenorizado de los tipos de servicios a implementar. Se señalan las potencialidades de la informetría a la hora de implementar estas modalidades de trabajo que hemos denominado servicio por la obligación que impone la convención

La comunicación ha marcado la evolución de la humanidad a través del tiempo. El ser humano siempre ha sentido la necesidad de buscar, saber, obtener la información creada, expresada y transmitida por otros. La creación, búsqueda y obtención de información son pues acciones esenciales a la naturaleza humana. Tal vez por eso los grandes saltos evolutivos de la humanidad tienen como hito la instauración de algún nuevo instrumento de comunicación. Este proceso ha estado marcado en los últimos cien años por las grandes y profundas transformaciones producidas en el campo de la tecnología, lo cual abre posibilidades infinitas de comunicación y ahonda la influencia en la vida social de una manera decisiva. Los comportamientos de los grupos sociales y las actitudes de los mismos no se comprenden actualmente sin la existencia de los más modernos medios de comunicación, cuyo primer resultado ha sido una aproximación de los hombres del mundo. Es comprensivo entonces que la revolución tecnológica introducida en las comunicaciones influya en el comportamiento de los hombres. A partir de la premisa de que las tecnologías han introducido cambios en los modos de comunicación entre los seres humanos y por ende en su vida social, este trabajo tiene como objetivo realizar un análisis sobre el proceso de comunicación mediado por las tecnologías, en diferentes esferas de la vida social

Characterization of the Scientific Output of Health Professionals from Cienfuegos Visible in the Scopus Database

Background: the publication of the results from scientific research and projects ensures dissemination of science, exchange, feedback and update of its trends.Objective: to characterize the scientific output of health professionals from Cienfuegos visible in the Scopus database. Methods: a descriptive study was conducted in the Provincial Medical Sciences Information Center including the publications by health professionals from Cienfuegos visible in the Scopus database from January 2007 to September 2013. The variables analyzed were: publications per year, topics discussed in the publications, most prolific authors, collaboration among institutions and countries as well as institutions according to the authors' affiliation. Results: 102 papers were retrieved, mostly by authors working in secondary care, specifically at the Gustavo Aldereguía Lima Provincial Hospital. A total of 141 authors are represented, 82 times as first authors and 230 as co-authors. Only 9.2 % appears five or more times. Most common topics are: cardiovascular diseases and public health. Collaboration with 13 institutions (nine papers with four national institutes and 30 with foreign institutions) was observed. Conclusions: scientific output of health professionals from Cienfuegos visible in the Scopus database is still scant.</p

AIDS and discrimination: Points of view of a group of adolescents and persons that live with the human immune-deficiency virus.

Background: Since the beginnings of the Infection with HIV, mankind has been greatly concerned. This disease emerged with a series of stigmata, injuring personal integrity of those who suffer from it. Methods: A descriptive study made in Cienfuegos, in which 120 adolescents and 29 PVHIV were inquired and also conferences about this illness were given. Results and Conclusions: The 120 inquired affirmed they knew about the disease and was receiving information regarding it. The majority identifies blood, vaginal secretions, semen, sharing contaminated needles and syringes as main ways of transmission, they also consider that keeping a stable mate friend is the best way to protect themselves. The 50,8% think the names of the infected should be informed to population, and the 15,% is worried about sharing their working or scholar life with them. The 26% think the infected people should live isolated in a sanatorium. On the other hand, 16 PVHIV said they have felt sometimes discriminated, and 11 stated that at the time of asking for medical help, the personnel have attended them in a despicable manner. 3 of them felt the familiar rejection, and 7 stated that the community and his very friends were getting away from them.</strong
