Systematic study of proton radioactivity of spherical proton emitters within various versions of proximity potential formalisms
In this work we present a systematic study of the proton radioactivity
half-lives of spherical proton emitters within the Coulomb and proximity
potential model. We investigate 28 different versions of the proximity
potential formalisms developed for the description of proton radioactivity,
decay and heavy particle radioactivity. It is found that 21
of them are not suitable to deal with the proton radioactivity, because the
classical turning points cannot be obtained due to the fact
that the depth of the total interaction potential between the emitted proton
and the daughter nucleus is above the proton radioactivity energy. Among the
other 7 versions of the proximity potential formalisms, it is Guo2013 which
gives the lowest rms deviation in the description of the experimental
half-lives of the known spherical proton emitters. We use this proximity
potential formalism to predict the proton radioactivity half-lives of 13
spherical proton emitters, whose proton radioactivity is energetically allowed
or observed but not yet quantified, within a factor of 3.71.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures. This paper has been accepted by The European

The long-range interactions between branes in diverse dimensions
We calculate the long-range interactions between two simple branes placed
parallel at a separation in diverse dimensions via an effective field theory
approach. We also compute for the first time the explicit long-range
interaction between two D-branes with each carrying a world-volume non-abelian
magnetic flux in three special cases, respectively. In particular, we
demonstrate that the half-string creation between a D-brane and a
D-brane continues to hold even in the present context, therefore lending
further support to the previous assertion of this. Our computations re-raise
also the issue in one case on whether so constructed (D, D) bound state
is actually a marginal one.Comment: 28 pages, various discussions expanded and references adde
Neuronal and microglial mechanisms of neuropathic pain
Neuropathic pain is generally defined as a chronic pain state resulting from peripheral and/or central nerve injury. Effective treatment for neuropathic pain is still lacking, due in part to poor understanding of pathological mechanisms at the molecular level. Neuronal mechanisms of neuropathic pain, especially synaptic plasticity, are the major focus of many investigators. N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor dependent synaptic plasticity at the spinal and cortical levels is believed to contribute to enhanced sensory responses after injury. Glial cells, including astrocytes and microglia, have recently been implicated in neuropathic pain. These glial cells form close interactions with neurons and thus may modulate nociceptive transmission under pathological conditions. In this review, we present recent progress in the study of neuronal and microglial mechanisms underlying neuropathic pain. We propose that activity-dependent neuronal plasticity is a key target for treatment in neuropathic pain
Topolgical Charged Black Holes in Generalized Horava-Lifshitz Gravity
As a candidate of quantum gravity in ultrahigh energy, the
-dimensional Ho\v{r}ava-Lifshitz (HL) gravity with critical exponent
, indicates anisotropy between time and space at short distance. In the
paper, we investigate the most general Ho\v{r}ava-Lifshitz gravity in
arbitrary spatial dimension , with a generic dynamical Ricci flow parameter
and a detailed balance violation parameter . In arbitrary
dimensional generalized HL gravity with at long distance, we
study the topological neutral black hole solutions with general in
HL, as well as the topological charged black holes with
in HL. The HL gravity in the Lagrangian formulation
is adopted, while in the Hamiltonian formulation, it reduces to DiracDe
Witt's canonical gravity with . In particular, the topological
charged black holes in HL, HL, HL and
HL with are solved. Their asymptotical behaviors near the
infinite boundary and near the horizon are explored respectively. We also study
the behavior of the topological black holes in the -dimensional HL
gravity with gauge field in the zero temperature limit and finite
temperature limit, respectively. Thermodynamics of the topological charged
black holes with , including temperature, entropy, heat capacity,
and free energy are evaluated.Comment: 51 pages, published version. The theoretical framework of z=d HL
gravity is set up, and higher curvature terms in spatial dimension become
relevant at UV fixed point. Lovelock term, conformal term, new massive term,
and Chern-Simons term with different critical exponent z are studie
Transport properties of dense deuterium-tritium plasmas
Consistent descriptions of the equation of states, and information about
transport coefficients of deuterium-tritium mixture are demonstrated through
quantum molecular dynamic (QMD) simulations (up to a density of 600 g/cm
and a temperature of eV). Diffusion coefficients and viscosity are
compared with one component plasma model in different regimes from the strong
coupled to the kinetic one. Electronic and radiative transport coefficients,
which are compared with models currently used in hydrodynamic simulations of
inertial confinement fusion, are evaluated up to 800 eV. The Lorentz number is
also discussed from the highly degenerate to the intermediate region.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Submillimeter/millimeter observations of the high-mass star forming region IRAS 22506+5944
The mapping observations of CO , CO , CO and
CO lines in the direction of IRAS 22506+5944 have been made. The
results show that the cores in the transition lines have a similar
morphology to those in the transition lines. Bipolar molecular outflows
are verified. The prior IRAS 22506+5944 observations indicated that two IRAS
sources and three HO masers were located close to the peak position of
the core. One of the IRAS sources may be the driving source of the outflows. In
addition, the HO masers may occur in relatively warm environments. The
parameters of the dense core and outflow, obtained by the LTE method, indicate
that IRAS 22506+5944 is a high-mass star formation region.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, published in RA
Word-representability of split graphs
Two letters x and y alternate in a word w if after deleting in w all letters but the copies of x and y we either obtain a word xyxy⋯ (of even or odd length) or a word yxyx⋯ (of even or odd length). A graph G=(V,E) is word-representable if there exists a word w over the alphabet V such that letters x and y alternate in w if and only if xy∈E. It is known that a graph is word-representable if and only if it admits a certain orientation called semi-transitive orientation. Word-representable graphs generalize several important classes of graphs such as 3 -colorable graphs, circle graphs, and comparability graphs. There is a long line of research in the literature dedicated to word-representable graphs. However, almost nothing is known on word-representability of split graphs, that is, graphs in which the vertices can be partitioned into a clique and an independent set. In this paper, we shed a light to this direction. In particular, we characterize in terms of forbidden subgraphs word-representable split graphs in which vertices in the independent set are of degree at most 2, or the size of the clique is 4. Moreover, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for an orientation of a split graph to be semi-transitive
