Mobile Interpreting of Heritage Values in Historical Cemeteries
The paper presents a mobile application introducing the heritage values in historical cemeteries. The application is developed for both the experts of the domain and people merely interested in the topic. Guided walks within the GUIDE@HAND audio tourist guide introduce several cemeteries of Europe. In order to support the participants of the international seminar on heritage values in historical cemeteries, the application includes a mobile conference guide, as well
INFO@HAND: Mobile Application for Conference Series
The paper presents an offline mobile application (INFO@HAND) providing in-formation about the DIPP conference series for conference participants and scien-tists interested in the conference scope and topics. In order to support the partici-pants of the international conference, the application contains an event calendar, provides information about the presentations (including the abstracts, as well), the presenters, locations and the organiser(s), presents the call for papers and the im-portant deadlines, a map with the conference locations, etc. The offline application is more than a conference guide because it can also present conference materials (presenters and papers) of the preceding years, thereby representing a scientific knowledge base
Mobile Exploring of Bulgarian Cultural and Scientific Assets
The paper introduces an ecosystem of digital libraries and
mobile applications for presenting Bulgarian cultural and science assets.
The digital libraries concerned constitute valuable sources of cultural
heritage and related scientific results. They include the Bulgarian
Iconographical Digital Library (BIDL), the BellKnow multimedia archive
on bells and the web site of the International Conference on Digital
Presentation and Preservation of Cultural and Scientific Heritage (DIPP).
These digital libraries can be accessed online through a Web interface.
Due to the spread of mobile devices, there is a need to present the
contents through mobile platforms as well. The GUIDE@HAND
application family was integrated with the digital libraries for presenting
the cultural and scientific assets offline in mobile applications. Interactive
multimedia components (e. g., games, panorama pictures, maps etc.)
make the presentation more attractive. The developed mobile applications
facilitate learning, presentation and preservation of cultural and scientific
objects
Interactive Game Development to Assist Cultural Heritage
Serious educational games provide a novel way to transfer knowledge on cultural heritage, which can especially attract young people by using interactive multimedia technology. The paper presents a new flexible tool for developing, managing and presenting games. This server-based solution can facilitate the game development by applying game templates, layout styles and question pools. It also supports the development of game packages for multiple languages and multiple platforms (Web and mobile). The games can easily be customised for various learning domains. Complex games can be composed from several so-called minigames (e.g. puzzle, multiple choice, memory game, crossword etc.) and the tool also supports the evaluation of the user answers and organising competitions. The games were applied to deepen knowledge on various topics related to our cultural heritage. The latest game development is represented by the serious educational game “The Thracians” running in a virtual 360º panorama environment, which presents the life, beliefs and traditions of the ancient tribes
