Mapping Bibliographic Records with Bibliographic Hash Keys
This poster presents a set of hash keys for bibliographic records called bibkeys. Unlike other methods of duplicate detection, bibkeys can directly be calculated from a set of basic metadata fields (title, authors/editors, year). It is shown how bibkeys are used to map similar bibliographic records in BibSonomy and among distributed library catalogs and other distributed databases
Cognitive processes in categorical and associative priming: a diffusion model analysis
Cognitive processes and mechanisms underlying different forms of priming were investigated using a diffusion model approach. In a series of 6 experiments, effects of prime-target associations and of a semantic and affective categorical match of prime and target were analyzed for different tasks. Significant associative and categorical priming effects were found in standard analyses of response times (RTs) and error frequencies. Results of diffusion model analyses revealed that priming effects of associated primes were mapped on the drift rate parameter (v), while priming effects of a categorical match on a task-relevant dimension were mapped on the extradecisional parameters (t(0) and d). These results support a spreading activation account of associative priming and an explanation of categorical priming in terms of response competition. Implications for the interpretation of priming effects and the use of priming paradigms in cognitive psychology and social cognition are discussed
On the Simulation of Global Reputation Systems
Reputation systems evolve as a mechanism to build trust in virtual communities. In this paper we evaluate different metrics for computing reputation in multi-agent systems. We present a formal model for describing metrics in reputation systems and show how different well-known global reputation metrics are expressed by it. Based on the model a generic simulation framework for reputation metrics was implemented. We used our simulation framework to compare different global reputation systems to find their strengths and weaknesses. The strength of a metric is measured by its resistance against different threat-models, i.e. different types of hostile agents. Based on our results we propose a new metric for reputation systems.Reputation System, Trust, Formalization, Simulation
Describing Knowledge Organization Systems in BARTOC and JSKOS
This paper introduces a cooperation between the Basel Register of Thesauri, Ontologies & Classifications (BARTOC) and project coli-conc to provide information about Knowledge Organization Systems, which “encompass all types of schemes for organizing information and promoting knowledge management”, in uniform form. The result is a proper metadata scheme, the JSKOS data format, and an API to connect and access connecting terminology registries so terminologies can be discovered and explored at one place.
The paper has been accepted by TKE 2016 - 12th International Conference on Terminology and Knowledge Engineering (see http://sf.cbs.dk/gtw/conferences_terminology_and_knowledge_engineering/tke_2016_copenhagen) and will be published in the conference proceedings
Three-Dimensional Segmented Poincaré Plot Analyses SPPA3 Investigates Cardiovascular and Cardiorespiratory Couplings in Hypertensive Pregnancy Disorders
Hypertensive pregnancy disorders affect 6 to 8% of gestations representing the most common complication of pregnancy for both mother and fetus. The aim of this study was to introduce a new three-dimensional coupling analysis methods – the three-dimensional segmented Poincaré plot analyses (SPPA3) - to establish an effective approach for the detection of hypertensive pregnancy disorders and especially pre-eclampsia (PE). A cubic box model representing the three dimensional phase space is subdivided into 12x12x12 equal predefined cubelets according to the range of the standard deviations of each investigated signal. Additionally, we investigated the influence of rotating the cloud of points and the size of the cubelets (adapted or predefined). All single probabilities of occurring points in a specific cubelet related to the total number of points are calculated. From 10 healthy non-pregnant women, 66 healthy pregnant women and 56 hypertensive pregnant women suffering from chronic hypertension, pregnancy induced hypertension and PE 30 minutes of beat-to-beat intervals (BBI), respiration (RESP), non-invasive systolic (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were continuously recorded and analyzed. Non-rotated adapted SPPA3 seems to be the optimum method to discriminate between hypertensive pregnancy disorders and PE concerning coupling analysis of 2 or 3 different systems (BBI, DBP, RESP and BBI, SBP, DBP) reaching an accuracy of up to 82.9%. This could be increased to an accuracy of up to 91.2% applying multivariate analysis differentiating between all pregnant women and PE. In conclusion, SPPA3 could be a useful method for enhanced risk stratification in pregnant women
