Role of Women in Ethno Veterinary Practices
A study was conducted to assess the involvement of women in various components of ethno veterinary practices in Cuddalore and Nagapattinam districts of Tamil Nadu state. It was found that assisting the traditional practitioner was the most preferred activity where women involved with much enthusiasm in both Cuddalore and Nagapattinam Districts
Track/train dynamics test procedure transfer function test
A transfer function vibration test was made on an 80 ton open hopper freight car in an effort to obtain validation data on the car's nonlinear elastic model. Test configuration, handling, test facilities, test operations, and data acquisition/reduction activities necessary to meet the conditions of test requirements are given
Early medieval household archaeology in Northwest Iberia (6th-11th centuries)
The aim of this paper is carrying out a social and economic analysis of household units of the northwest area of the Iberian Peninsula through the domestic architecture. More than sixty sites will be analysed, most of them excavated in the context of commercial archaeology of the last decade. This database allows to study the main constructive typologies in 5th to 10th village contexts as well as to recognize the existence of a remarkable territorial, geographic and diachronic diversity as a reflection of diverse «constructive forms».El objetivo de este trabajo es el de realizar un análisis social y econĂłmico de las unidades domĂ©sticas del cuadrante nordoccidental de la PenĂnsula IbĂ©rica a travĂ©s de la arquitectura domĂ©stica.
Dispersion and lineshape of plasmon satellites in one, two and three dimensions
Using state-of-the-art many-body Green's function calculations based on the
"GW plus cumulant" approach, we analyze the properties of plasmon satellites in
the electron spectral function resulting from electron-plasmon interactions in
one-, two- and three-dimensional systems. Specifically, we show how their
dispersion relation, lineshape and linewidth are related to the properties of
the constituent electrons and plasmons. To gain insight into the many-body
processes giving rise to the formation of plasmon satellites, we connect the
"GW plus cumulant" approach to a many-body wavefunction picture of
electron-plasmon interactions and introduce the coupling-strength weighted
electron-plasmon joint-density states as a powerful concept for understanding
plasmon satellites.Comment: 6 papers, 2 figure
Asian Americans on the Streets: Strategies for Prevention and Intervention
Notably lacking in the literature on Vietnamese and Cambodian youth gangs in the United States and particularly Southern California have been solutions that address the underlying causative factors of gang involvement. Relying on life histories collected over a span of fifteen years, the authors propose a multi-faceted prevention and intervention strategy that includes the community and schools to heighten cultural awareness for children and parents. It is also recommended that policies take into account nuanced differences between Asian communities and bring together multiple stakeholders including officials and hard-core gang members to improve communicative problems that have resulted in gang-policy failures
Stratospheric constituent distributions from balloon-based limb thermal emission measurements
This research task deals with an analysis of infrared thermal emission observations of the Earth's atmosphere for determination of trace constituent distributions. Infrared limb thermal emission spectra in the 700-2000 cm(exp -1) region were obtained with a liquid nitrogen cooled Michelson interferometer-spectrometer (SIRIS) on a balloon flight launched from Palestine, Texas, at nighttime on September 15-16, 1986. An important objective of this work is to obtain simultaneously measured vertical mixing ratio profiles of O3, H2O, N2O, NO2, N2O5, HNO3 and ClONO2 and compare with measurements made with a variety of techniques by other groups as well as with photochemical model calculations. A portion of the observed spectra obtained by SIRIS from the balloon flight on September 15-16, 1986, has been analyzed with a focus on calculation of the total nighttime odd nitrogen budget from the simultaneously measured profiles of important members of the NO(sub x) family. The measurements permit first direct determination of the nighttime total odd nitrogen concentrations NO(sub y) and the partitioning of the important elements of the NO(sub x) family
