The study analyses the number of web pages, link pages and calculates the Web Impact Factor i.e., Simple Web Impact Factor, Internal Link Web Impact Factor and External Link Web Impact Factor of National Libraries in South Asian countries and ranks the websites as per the WIF. The study used Open Site Explorer optimization tool and search engine for links. The result visualized that National Library of India leads with highest Domain Authority (15.27%) and Page Authority (14.48%), the National Library of Sri Lanka (88.65%) got the highest Internal Equity-Passing Links, National Library of India (84.96%) has the highest External Equity-Passing Links and Total Equity-Passing Links with 83.69%. The National Library of Sri Lanka has the highest (88.65%) Total Internal Links and National Library, India has the highest Total External Links (84.04%) and Total Links (82.80%). The Web Impact Factor of National Library of India is the highest followed by National Library of Sri Lanka and National Library of Bhutan among the other national libraries websites.

A Wearable Glove for Measuring Fingers Flexion to Identify Specific Hand Gestures Using Flex Sensors

    Get PDF
This paper presents a special method of communication for the speech impaired people and other patients using their hand gestures. A microcontroller based system has been developed for measuring fingers flexion to identify specific hand gestures using flex sensors. The system is made wearable and has been deployed on a glove. To measure the fingers flexion for a specific hand gesture five flex sensors are tailored for each finger on the glove. These flex sensors produce signals corresponding to different hand gestures and finger movements. Flex sensors simply change their resistance values according to the degree of bend angle made. They convert the change in bend to electrical resistance-the more the bend, the more is the resistance value. The system has been built around a widely used eight bit microcontroller ATMega328P that has a built-in 10-bit multiplexed channel Analog-to-Digital Converter for the signal conditioning purpose. The important factors while designing a glove is the calibration, the finger size, height and thickness varies from patient to patient and these inaccurate measurements of parameter leads to overlapping of the sign

KM needs a systematic approach to develop the evolution of knowledge into a key organizational resource. Most importantly, effective KM is now acknowledged as the key driver of new knowledge and ideas. Therefore, KM has become a significant issue in all types of organizations across the world irrespective of profit-making or not-for-profit organizations. An institution’s wide approach to KM can direct enormous improvements in creation and sharing of knowledge within the academic fraternity. In fact, academic institutions are the factory and laboratory of knowledge creation and the academicians are the best knowledge creators. Therefore, the application of KM tools and techniques in the academic sector is as important as it is in the corporate sector. The present study is an attempt to analyze the KM practices in six KM segments (i.e identification, acquisition, creation, sharing, storage and utilization) in four selected IIMs Library which seems to be the best management institutes of India and having the special status - “Institute of National Importance”. A survey method of research was adopted in this study and structured questionnaires are distributed to 504 respondents to collect primary data and resolved that KM practices are still in initial stage and need to do a lot for improvement
