Grenzflaechencharakterisierung und Sensortest an CO_2-Gassensoren Verbundprojekt 1990-1993. Abschlussbericht

The aim of the project was to develop a functioning CO_2 sensor based on solid electrolyte and to produce this by thick film technique. This is the precondition for efficient and cheap mass production. In order to carry out basic investigations on materials active as sensors, in parallel with the development of the thick film structures at Battelle and later at the firm of Roth Technik GmbH, tablet sensors based on sodium carbonate as solid electrolyte were also built. The effect of different electrode materials and investigations of electrode kinetics were carried out on them. To characterise the Na-Co oxide reference system, monolithic structures were developed and tested at MPI in Stuttgart. Further structures for tests of cover layers and of Li"+ ion conducting glasses as solid electrolyte and of gas-tight membranes wer carried out at the Free University of Berlin. (orig./MM)Ziel des Projekts war es, einen funktionierenden CO_2-Sensor auf Festelektrolytbasis zu entwickeln und diesen in Dickschichttechnik zu realisieren. Dies ist die Voraussetzung fuer eine effiziente und billige Massenproduktion. Um grundlegende Untersuchungen zu den sensoraktiven Materialien durchzufuehren, wurden parallel zur Entwicklung der Dickschichtstrukturen bei Battelle und spaeter bei der Fa. Roth Technik GmbH auch Tablettensensoren auf der Basis von Natriumcarbonat als Festelektrolyt aufgebaut. An ihnen wurde der Einfluss unterschiedlicher Elektrodenmaterialien sowie Untersuchungen zur Elektrodenkinetik durchgefuehrt. Ferner wurden zur Charakterisierung des Na-Co-Oxid-Referenzsystems am MPI in Stuttgart monolithische Strukturen entwickelt und getestet. Weitere Strukturen fuer Tests von Abdeckschichten und von Li"+-ionenleitenden Glaesern als Festelektrolyt und gasdichte Membran wurden an der FU Berlin entwickelt. In the frame of the present project simulation models have been developed for a large number of complex analog devices such as comparators, integrated circuit operational amplifiers, function elements etc. These models are supplied to users in form of a model library. Performance parameters of hydraulic and pneumatic drivings could be considerably improved by the application of a microprocessor as signal transmitter unit for the realization of digital predictive controllers adapted to the properties of fluid power systems. As first industrial application cases, controller adaption by fuzzy logic for a pneumatic axis and the adaption of controller structure and controller parameters at a secondary controlled hydraulic motor are described. A further development of fluid power drivings to intelligent subsystems is proposed. Basic research and development work was carried out on assembly technologies of multi chip modules with flexible polymer substrates. As interconnecting technique the tape automated bonding (tap) was chosen, but also the chip-on-board and the flip-chip technique have been applied. In addition the chip-in-board technique - the assembly of a chip into a multilayer pc board or the combination of flexible boards with thick layerhybrids - has been used. As reference of the achieved technological progress demonstrators are presented for different purposes. Optische Mikrosysteme fuer den Umweltschutz Kurzstudie

A considerable market potential is predicted for optical microsystems as analyzing tools in the field of environmental protection. The most promising analysis methods are based on laser-induced fluorescence measurements. Commercially available UV lasers can be applied in multicomponent analysis for prescreening tests. In addition, by time and spectral selection and by comparison of fluorescence spectra a large number of pollutants should be rapidly identified. For rapid analysis of a large amount of sampler a micro titer method is described. The method is based on the miniaturization of sample carrier and signal detection using coherent red light for fluorescence excitement. Prototypenentwicklung in der Mikrosystemtechnik Analyse der indirekt-spezifischen Massnahme

The majority (67 %) of the small and medium-sized enterprises supported in the frame of the BMFT project 'microsystem technology' has successfully finished their prototype development. Only nine percent of the enterprises have interrupted their development activities without any prototypes, and about the fourth part has surpassed the regular project time. Almost all enterprises which have succeeded in the prototype development intend to start production (or selling of the prototype). Developed prototypes cover a broad field of products in the field of signal processing, sensors, layer techniques, semiconductor technique and actors.
