Az angolna (Anguilla anguilla L.) táplálkozása a Balaton parti övében | Feeding of European eel (Anguilla anguilla L.) in the littoral zone of Lake Balaton
Eel, Anguilla anguilla L. that were introduced into Lake Balaton between 1961 and 1991 have a significant
effect on the structure and functioning of the aquatic biota in Lake Balaton. During their accelerating phase,
the eel stock competed with many indigenous fish species (e.g. common bream, Abramis brama (L.)).
However, stocks of most fish species (e.g. zander, Sander lucioperca (L.)) were directly influenced by eels
predating their juveniles. Disappearance of many animal species from Lake Balaton could be caused by eels as
well (e.g. burbot, Lota lota (L.), weatherfish, Misgurnus fossilis (L.), Danube crayfish, Astacus leptodactylus
(Eschscholtz)). From 1991 no more eels were introduced to the lake, and the stock density has been
continuously decreasing. Nowadays, density of the stock is only 8–12% of the maximum that was reached in
1991. In this study, we investigated what changes occurred in the feeding habit of eel compared to
observations of 1970 and 1980. Based on the results of stomach content analysis of eels carried out during
2010, following conclusions were established:
1, Fish, which is one of the main food items of eel, was usually found alone in the alimentary tract. The ratio of
piscivorous eels increased in summer.
2, Mixture of mussels, snails and other benthic organisms were characteristic food of eel along with
Amphipod crustaceans that could however occur as pure prey as well. The ratio of these organisms was the
largest in spring.
3, Eeel is an omnivore species, which can adapt to food sources of various seasons.
ivadékfalásával közvetlenül is befolyásolta egyes halfajok állományát (pl. fogassüllő, Sander lucioperca (L.)),
illetve ragadozásának több állatfaj Balatonból történt eltűnésében is szerepe lehetett (pl. menyhal, Lota lota
A 2010‐ben fogott angolnák (n = 70) gyomortartalmának vizsgálata alapján a
következő főbb megállapításokat tehettük:
A halat fogyasztó
angolnák részaránya a nyári hónapokban megnövekszik.
Ezen szervezetek
részaránya a tavaszi hónapokban a legmagasabb.
3. Az angolna sokféle vízi szervezetet elfogyaszt, s jól alkalmazkodik az egyes időszakokban fellelhető
táplálékkínálathoz
Effect of feeding frequencies on the growth of the European mudminnow larvae (Umbra krameri WALBAUM, 1792) reared in controlled conditions.
Effects of feeding frequency were examined on European mudminnow larval growth (initial average total body length: 7.5 mm) under controlled rearing conditions. Two treatments were set in 3 replicates: „Group A”: fed with Artemia salina nauplii four times day-1 and “Group B”: fed with Artemia nauplii six times -1 day. At the end of the 21-day-long examination period significant differences (p<0.05) were found in the total length between the two groups. Average final total lengths were the followings in the groups: “A” 15.5 mm, „B” 16.6 mm. Average live weights of the fish in experimental groups reached 34.4±2.4g, and 44.4±1.4g at the end of the trial in groups A and B, respectively. At the end of the trial period larvae were suitable for stocking into natural waters
Assessment of ovulation of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) females selected for induced spawning on the basis of external morphological characteristics
Secondary sexual characteristics such as softening and rounding of the abdomen as well as reddening and protrusion of the anal papilla and vent can be of help to breeders in selecting common carp (Cyprinus carpio) females prepared for propagation. To assess the reliability of this method, long-term data obtained on induced spawning of common carp at a large-scale fish hatchery were evaluated. The average spawning ratio of 2,620 females receiving hormonal injections was 79.8%. The average pseudogonadosomatic index (PGSI) calculated from data on the egg production of 2,086 females was 16.3 ± 5.87% (mean ± SD) for the same period. There was a correlation between fish weight and the time of induction determined by the breeder on the basis of external morphological characteristics. The similarity of the responses of females, including both spawning ratio and PGSI, among the different weight categories proved the reliability of this method for identification
