    A comparative study of the chewing cycles of dentate and denture-wearing subjects

    Patterns of incisai point nnovements during habitual and unilateral chewing of 35 complete denture wearers and a control group of 35 dentate subjects were analyzed using a Sirognathograph. The graphs of the lengths, angles, and envelopes of niiotion nnade during habitual chewing cycles by complete denture wearers were analyzed and found to be similar to those of dentate subjects. However, when analyzing the graphs of separate chewing cycles at the beginning of unilateral chewing, significant differences in the movement performance were found using the same parameters. The analysis of areas where some tooth contacts occurred defined the differences in performing contact movements during chewing

    Interincisai point movetrtents in 35 healthy, dentate subjects were investigated with an electrognathie apparatus. The main focus of the study was to find the average values of determined point graphic assesst?wnt in fronted and sagittal planes during chewing of hard and soft foods. However, as this was insufficient to obtain information on areas where ocdusal contacts were reached, border movement envelopes were also recorded to obtain indirect information in connection to the previous task. The results showed that the graphic assessment form of mandihular movements was dependent on the consistency of the food that was chewed

    COMPARISON BETWEEN ULTRASONOGRAPHY RESULTS AND RESULTS OF MAGNETIC RESONANCE IN SHOULDER PATHOLOGY – CASE REPORT

    The common pathological condition of the shoulder joint is rotator cuff diseases. Patient, 68 years, had pain in the shoulder with limited joint mobility. After clinical examination, blood tests (SE >100 nmol/L, CSF normal, hypergamma- globulinemia) and radiographic examination (bone dilution with deformities of the humeral head), a solitary plasmocytoma was suspected. This diagnosis was excluded after biopsy. Patient was referred to the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the shoulder, so ultrasonographic (US) examination was performed. Our case study points to comparability between US and MRI results regarding tendinitis of muscles in the rotator cuff. By applying both diagnostic methods, calcifications within muscle tendons were evident. Sonography is faster, cheaper, more accessible and readily available method that certainly is a valuable tool for clinicians when it comes to rotator cuff lesions
