A Novel Quartet-Based Method for Inferring Evolutionary Trees from Molecular Data
Molecular Evolution is the key to explain the divergence of species and the origin of life on earth. The main task in the study of molecular evolution is the reconstruction of evolutionary trees from sequences data of the current species. This thesis introduces a novel algorithm for inferring evolutionary trees from genetic data using quartet-based approach. The new method recursively merges sub-trees based on a global statistical provided by the global quartet weight matrix. The quarte weights can be computed using several methods. Since the quartet weights computation is the most expensive procedure in this approach, the new method enables the parallel inference of large evolutionary trees. Several techniques developed to deal with quartets inaccuracies. In addition, the new method we developed is flexible in such a way that can combine morphological and molecular phylogenetic analyses to yield more accurate trees. Also, we introduce the concept of critical point where more than one possible merges are possible for the same sub-tree. The critical point concept can provide information about the relationships between species in more details and show how close they are. This enables us to detect other reasonable trees. We evaluated the algorithm on both synthetic and real data sets. Experimental results showed that the new method achieved significantly better accuracy in comparison with existing methods
The Effect of Computer Crimes on the Application of Information System in Banks in Jordanian Firms
This study aims to identify the effect of computer crimes on the application of information system in bank sector in Jordan. The study relied on both data resources; the primary and the secondary data were collected from a previous studies related to the subject matter, where as the primary data attained through distributing the questionnaire on the study sample. The researchers conducted a statistical analysis for approximately 300 questionnaires , which were distributed on a sample of Jordan commercial banks, then the responses of the study sample were emptied into the computer, the data analysis was conducted by using statistical analysis system(SPSS), the result showed: There is a relation that has a moral effect between the dangers of viruses and efficiency of the information systems. There is a relation that has a moral effect between the dangers of penetration/violation and the efficiency of information systems. There is a relation that has a moral effect between losing and smuggling of information and the efficiency of information systems. In light of the previous results, the researchers suggest a group of recommendations: The researchers recommend the increase of research related to computer crimes, since it is clear from this study that there is a big gap in studies related to this approach. To publish statistics linked to the internet crimes and its misuse by concerned parties to identify the size of the problem. To form specialized committees of experienced figures to set special laws regarding the computer and the internet crimes in a detailed fashion of laws and regulations in an efficient way in Jordanian judicial authorities. Topics on financial crises in emerging countries case of Jordan
This thesis investigates the effect of monetary policy on financial stability and part of the real side of the Jordanian economy over the time period 1976-2009. It uses a number of empirical methodologies including: a Vector Autoregressive (VAR) to investigate the relationship between monetary policy and financial stability in Jordan; A Logit model and Markov switching model to study the currency crisis in Jordan; and an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) to estimate an investment function for the Jordanian economy. Findings of the VAR models confirmed the relationship between monetary policy and financial stability in Jordan. However, a number of indictors were found to have a significant effect on the currency crisis in Jordan. These indictors included the real exchange rate, money supply-reserves ratio, and growth rate of domestic credit. On the other hand, a stable long-run investment function exists. Real income and real credit were found to have a positive impact on real investment. However, the user cost of capital has had a negative impact on real investment
Combating the Misrepresentation of Women in Quran Translations: Translational Interventions
The discourse concerning Islam, and in particular the translation of the Quran, has had a profound impact on Western views of Muslim women. Most Quran translations are stained with mistranslations, resulting from translators adopting the literal approach for religious reasons that we will explore. This has an impact on many aspects of meaning, but especially the representation of women. It should be noted that this article is not influenced by the views of feminist groups who focus on seeking new interpretations of the Quran. Instead, it pinpoints the genuine interpretation lost in translation. This article endeavors to identify the translational mistakes, and their influence on the image of women, through a comparison with the original text in terms of linguistic and paralinguistic features found in the Quran. The article adopts the interpretive approach in the form of a multiple-case study to clarify the mistranslated cases and to provide genuine interpretation as understood within the original context, without either addition or omission. The article concludes that many Quran translations instantiate a fertile ground, contributing to the creation of a negative image of Muslim women in the eyes of the West. This is attributed to the translator’s lack of knowledge of Quranic scholarship, i.e., the paralinguistic issues and the excessive use of the literal approach that fails to capture the intended meaning of the original text
Marketing for Service Quality - Contractors' Perception: UAE Case Study
This paper is based on the findings of in-depth face-to-face semi-structured interviews with owners, directors and senior managers of twenty contractors' organisation in the United Arab Emirates construction industry. Then the research findings were reported and sent back to those who participated in the interviews in a form of a validation report for their review and comments. The objective of this paper is to explore the marketing concept, cost and activities within the contractors’ organisation in the United Arab Emirates construction industry. The results indicated that marketing function has been slightly accepted as legitimate management activities in the UAE construction organisations (15% of respondents). Furthermore, the majority of companies (80% of respondents) consider marketing cost as a wasting of money since most projects were awarded to the lowest price offer. More than 85% of the interviewed contractors indicated that they do not have marketing departments or divisions in their companies; instead they have a public relationship department with the focus on the documentation of current project and the internal magazine of the company. Only 15% of contracting companies have a separate marketing division with a few staff and little budget. The result also indicated that there is much confusion among contractors on the definition of the marketing concepts and its purpose and activities. This study aimed to reveal the extent to which social studies teachers basic upper stage in Aqaba Governorate of my skills to make decisions and solve classroom problems in Jordan, the study population consisted of all social studies teachers basic upper phase in the province of Aqaba in Jordan; where formed the sample of 49 teachers of the study population, of whom 18 teachers and 31 teacher, spread over the sample schools were distributed a questionnaire designed for this purpose in advance after the arbitration process of conducting a tribal them, where the collected data were statistically analyzed where they were entered into a computer and used a researcher at the process analysis Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and software (Excel) .quart researcher extracted the arithmetic means, and standard deviations for each paragraph and each area of study, as well as the researcher used t-test. Results of averages, standard deviations, and showed that skill for decision-making at the highest arithmetic averages and standard deviations in favor of females to males. The study concluded with recommendations in their entirety focus attention on the need for the development of teachers' ability to deal with classroom problems and taking into account the situation of students as well as giving Thinking greater share of decision-making in the field of teacher preparation
Cultural factors: The Key Factors in software Development
This paper examines the role of cultural factors in software development, such as management of communications, distribution of project information, behaviors and attitudes. The study population consists of all Jordanian institutions (n = 96) operating in the field of software development. From previous studies that have been reviewed and applied study conducted by researchers at the Jordanian companies show us the importance of cultural factors. It is therefore important for the project team to deal with these factors in a serious and careful. Should the project manager and his team they have a good knowledge in how to deal with these factors. It should be the project manager and his team have their efficiency in the process of comparison between the benefits of the proposed system do not exist in the old system for each of the groups and individuals in the organization, and convince them of the benefits gained from the proposed system better and more for individuals and groups in the organization of the current system the old one.
