    This disclosure describes a protection layer for a display panel that includes layers that are flush with the display panel and a partially offset metal layer. The partially offset metal layer enables laser cutting of the display panel and protection layer, while the flush layers provide additional protection to the display panel. The protection layer includes a metal layer, a foam layer, and an embo layer that are laminated together. The metal layer includes an offset relative to the display panel while the foam and embo layers do not include the offset. A laser cutting process is used to cut the protection layer and display panel. The foam and embo layers are cut along with display panel during the laser cutting process. The foam and embo layers provide protection for the edge region of the display panel

    QCD corrections to single slepton production at hadron colliders

    We evaluate the cross section for single slepton production at hadron colliders in supersymmetric theories with R-parity violating interactions to the next-to-leading order in QCD. We obtain fully differential cross section by using the phase space slicing method. We also perform soft-gluon resummation to all order in αs\alpha_s of leading logarithm to obtain a complete transverse momentum spectrum of the slepton. We find that the full transverse momentum spectrum is peaked at a few GeV, consistent with the early results for Drell-Yan production of lepton pairs. We also consider the contribution from gluon fusion via quark-triangle loop diagrams dominated by the bb-quark loop. The cross section of this process is significantly smaller than that of the tree-level process induced by the initial bbˉb\bar{b} annihilation.Comment: one new reference is adde

    Nonlocality-controlled interaction of spatial solitons in nematic liquid crystals

    We demonstrate experimentally that the interactions between a pair of nonlocal spatial optical solitons in a nematic liquid crystal (NLC) can be controlled by the degree of nonlocality. For a given beam width, the degree of nonlocality can be modulated by varying the pretilt angle of NLC molecules via the change of the bias. When the pretilt angle is smaller than pi/4, the nonlocality is strong enough to guarantee the independence of the interactions on the phase difference of the solitons. As the pretilt angle increases, the degree of nonlocality decreases. When the degree is below its critical value, the two solitons behavior in the way like their local counterpart: the two in-phase solitons attract and the two out-of-phase solitons repulse.Comment: 3 pages, 4 figure

    Pilot Power Allocation Through User Grouping in Multi-Cell Massive MIMO Systems

    In this paper, we propose a relative channel estimation error (RCEE) metric, and derive closed-form expressions for its expectation Exprcee\rm {Exp}_{rcee} and the achievable uplink rate holding for any number of base station antennas MM, with the least squares (LS) and minimum mean squared error (MMSE) estimation methods. It is found that RCEE and Exprcee\rm {Exp}_{rcee} converge to the same constant value when M→∞M\rightarrow\infty, resulting in the pilot power allocation (PPA) is substantially simplified and a PPA algorithm is proposed to minimize the average Exprcee\rm {Exp}_{rcee} per user with a total pilot power budget PP in multi-cell massive multiple-input multiple-output systems. Numerical results show that the PPA algorithm brings considerable gains for the LS estimation compared with equal PPA (EPPA), while the gains are only significant with large frequency reuse factor (FRF) for the MMSE estimation. Moreover, for large FRF and large PP, the performance of the LS approaches to the performance of the MMSE, which means that simple LS estimation method is a very viable when co-channel interference is small. For the achievable uplink rate, the PPA scheme delivers almost the same average achievable uplink rate and improves the minimum achievable uplink rate compared with the EPPA scheme.Comment: 30 pages, 5 figures, submitted to IEEE Transactions on Communication
