ARRANGEMENT OF PROTECTIVE SHELTERS AND WALKING PLATFORMS IN ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES

Arkeolojik alanlarda kazılar sırasında ortaya çıkarılan kültürel değerlerimiz, taşınabilir ölçeklioldukları taktirde (heykeller, vs. gibi) ilgili müzelerde onarıldıktan sonra sergilenerek koruma altınaalınabilirler. Fakat mimari kalıntılar yerinde korunmayı zorunlu kılan değerlerimizdir. Çalışmakapsamında; Arkeolojik Alanlarda ortaya çıkarılan kültürel mirasımızın yerinde korunmasına yönelikçalışmalar kapsamında üretilen “Koruma Çatıları†nın düzenlenme kriterleri ve yerinde koruma altınaalınan bu değerlerimizin sergilenmesine olanak sağlayacak gezi platformları tasarımları, korunankültürel değerlerimize verdiği koruyuculuk bağlamındaki katkıları açısından incelenmektedir. In the case when the cultural and historical values that are founded by the excavations aremovable cultural assests like sculptures, they are carried to the museums to be exhibited after aserious conservation process. But in the contrary situation, the inmovable cultural assests have to bepreserved within the site. The context of this study is to discuss the principles, needs, design andapplication process of the “Preservation Roofs-Shelters†and “Walking Platforms†which areproduced for obtaining the purpose of protecting the cultural assets, and exhibiting them in situ, onsite

IMPORTANCE AND DETERIORATION PROBLEMS OF WOODEN SUPPORTING ELEMENTS WITHIN THE MASONRY SYSTEM OF TRADITIONAL TURKISH HOUSES

Geleneksel Türk konutu, zemin katını çevreleyen taş duvarları, bir anlamda iç mekanı dışarıyataşıyan ahşap çıkmaları ve kiremit örtülü kırma çatısıyla neredeyse tüm dünyaca tanınan bir ikonhaline gelmiş ve pek çok araştırmanın da konusu olmuştur. Ahşap ise bu konutlarda kullanılan temelyapı malzemelerinden birisidir. Ahşap bulmanın zorlaştığı bölgeler dışındaki hemen her bölgede,genellikle taş olan giriş katı duvarlarının üzerinde yükselen ahşap iskelet sistem geleneksel Türkkonutunun birinci katını ve çoğunlukla da ana yaşama mekanlarını oluşturmaktadır. Ancak, buçalışma kapsamında odaklanmak istenilen nokta ise kargir yapılarda ya da yapıların kargir sistemiiçerisinde kullanılan ve özellikle de depreme karşı çok önemli görevler üstlenen ahşap yapıelemanlarının önemine vurgu yapmak ve zarar görme nedenlerini tariflemek olarak belirlenmiştir. Sözkonusu çalışma Batı Anadolu'da konumlanan geleneksel dokularda TÜBİTAK tarafından desteklenen“Geleneksel Türk Evlerinde Kullanılan Ahşap Yapısal Ve Mimari Elemanlarının KonservasyonYöntemleri†başlıklı araştırma projesi kapsamında yapılan alan çalışmalarından üretilmiştir. Traditional Turkish House has become an icon with its masonry walls that surrounds the groundfloor, projections and tiled roof In addition to timber framed buildings, strengthening the structuralsystem of masonry buildings by using timber elements is very common in Traditional Turkish Houses,since the earthquake is one of the most important design criteria. The use of the horizontal timberjoists (beams) which are embedded within the masonry load bearing walls give the building the abilityof resist the horizontal forces that occur during the earthquakes. This beams called as “hatil†intraditional houses. With this idea, in addition to timber floor and roof constructions, it is aimed to lookat the conservation issues of timber supporting elements in masonry structures, by examining someexamples from Western Anatolia, and to emphasize the importance of them to make the buildingstanding still. The study is produced from the field researches that have been carried out for theresearch project, which is titled as “Conservation Methods of Wooden Architectural Elements of theTraditional Turkish Houses†and supported by TUBİTAK

Considering the future, the most important problems of our day is how to protect the Historical Heritage, and how to benefit from it. And as an answer to this question, by benefiting from our cultural background, it is necessary to provide the contemporary requirements and to transfer this attitude to the future generations. Throughout the time functions may change but, old buildings may stay. This situation requires that the old buildings are open to a new contemporary uses.
