    Resolution of ibuprofen with primary amine carbamates in supercritical carbon dioxide

    Three new, successful resolving agents, namely (S)-2-phenylglycinol, (R)-1-phenylethanaminium (R)-(1-phenylethyl) carbamate and (S)-2-hydroxy-1-phenylethanaminium (S)-(2-hydroxy-1-phenylethyl) carbamate of ibuprofen are presented. The carbamate salts are stable white crystals, they can be easily stored and handled. All salt forming resolution were performed in supercritical carbon dioxide as the only solvent. The enantioseparations were efficient (approx. 50 % enantiomeric purities, > 90 % yields in the crystalline phase) and robust. Unlike previous experiences with primary amine resolving agents, the diastereomeric salt formations and resolutions were competed in short times, even within one hour suggesting that the carbamates are intermediates of the salt formation reaction

    Pressurized Liquid Extraction of Hemp Residue and Purification of the Extract with Liquid-Liquid Extraction

    The first semi-continuous Pressurized Liquid Extraction (PLE) of hemp threshing residue with ethanol was carried out according to a 32 full factorial experimental design with pressure and temperature as independent variables at 8-10-12 MPa and 323-333-343 K, respectively. The total- and cannabidiol (CBD) yield curves were fitted to the modified two-parameter Brunner equation. Best results, concerning CBD, can be achieved at 12 MPa and 343 K. Solvent mass-consumption and operation time were considerably decreased compared to a previous supercritical fluid extraction study on the same material. Furthermore, the concentration profiles were evaluated to study the mass transfer. The winterized dry extracts were further studied in a methanol-hexane-water ternary system concerning CBD distribution ratio, showing high methanol dependency

    Screening for Mutations of 21-Hydroxylase Gene in Hungarian Patients with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia

    Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of autosomal recessive disorders, causing impaired secretion of cortisol and aldosterone from the adrenal cortex, with subsequent overproduction of adrenal androgens. The most common enzyme defect causing CAH is steroid 21-hydroxylase deficiency. To determine the mutational spectrum in the Hungarian CAH population, the CYP21 active gene was analyzed using PCR. A total of 297 Hungarian patients with 21-hydroxylase deficiency are registered in the 2nd Department of Pediatrics, Budapest, Hungary, and their clinical status was evaluated. Blood samples for CYP21 genotype determination could be obtained from 167 patients (representing 306 unrelated chromosomes and 56.2% of the total group of patients). Eight of the most common mutations were screened [In2 (intron 2 splice mutation), I172N, Del (Del: apparents large gene conversion), Q318X, R356W, 1761Tins, ClusterE6, V281L] using allele-specific amplification. The most frequent mutation in the Hungarian CAH population was found to be In2. Our results have shown a good genotype/phenotype correlation in case of most mutations; the In2 mutation is associated mostly with the severe form of the disease, whereas I172N was expressed in a wide spectrum of phenotypes

    A tudományfilozófiában és a tudománytörténet-írásban azok a törekvések tűnnek ígéreteseknek, amelyek egyrészt szintetizálják a tudomány történeti és filozófiai mozzanatait, másrészt túllépnek a szűkebb tudományfilozófián, amennyiben az interdiszciplinaritás felé mozdulnak el, és/vagy visszahelyezik a tudomány problémáját a filozófia alapvetőbb kontextusába (visszacsatolva a tudományfilozófiát a kontinentális tradícióhoz). Ilyen törekvés a technoscience irányzata, a természettudományok fenomenológiai-hermeneutikai és kultúrtörténeti megközelítése, a matematikafilozófia új, "történeti"-ként jellemezhető irányzatai, továbbá a tudományfilozófiát kiegészítő kommunikációfilozófiai, antropológiai, pedagógiai-lélektani vizsgálódások. Robert Westman-nek a kopernikuszi elmélet recepciójával kapcsolatos korábbi elemzései ugyancsak heurisztikus kiindulópontot nyújtanak Thomas Kuhn tudományfilozófiájának ilyen irányú, kritikai-alkotó továbbfejlesztésére. Álláspontunkat filozófiai elemzésekkel és érvekkel, valamint konkrét esettanulmányokkal támasztottuk alá. Így elemeztük a hiperbolikus geometria Bolyai- és Lobacsevszij-féle verziója közötti viszonyt, a tudományos könyvtár jellegében és szerepében történő változásokat, és hozzájárultunk a kopernikuszi fordulattal és a relativitáselmélettel kapcsolatos történeti és filozófiai kérdések megválaszolásához. | In the history and philosophy of science those trends are promising which synthesize the philosophical and historical aspects of science, on the one hand, and transcend philosophy of science, on the other hand, by applying interdisciplinary methods and/or placing back the problem of science into the fundamental context of classical philosophy (and in this way reconstruct the connection between philosophy of science and continental philosophy). Technoscience, the phenomenology and hermeneutics of science, the 'Kulturhistorie' of science, and new tendencies in the philosophy of mathematics characterized by a historical point of view belong to these trends, as well as the communication-philosophical, anthropological, pedagogical and psychological investigations which can complete the philosophy of science. Robert Westman's analysis of the reception of the Copernican theory also provides a heuristic ground for developing a critical and creative interpretation of Thomas Kuhn?s theory in this direction. We argued for our view by means of philosophical analyses and arguments, as well as special case studies. We scrutinized the relation between the two versions of hyperbolic geometry elaborated by Bolyai and Lobachevskii, and dealt with the transformation of the role and character of scientific libraries. We also contributed to certain philosophical and historical questions concerning the Copernican turn and relativity theory
